I've got the coffee! Who's got the time to "chat"?
Good thing I was restarting today and not last night?!? (I'd forgotten how good frozen Suzy Qs tasted! )
Back OP this morning. Allowing myself my 2 cups of coffee (no sugar). Will scramble some eggs with cheese later. I'll be on the run today so I'm bringing with me one of those High-protein/Low-carb shakes (2 gr carbs). It tasts OK. Nothing to write home about but it does seem to hold off the munchies. Figured I fill out the meal with a salad (taking my stepson to the mall at noon and he wants Burger King). Dinner tonight is spaghetti & meatballs with a tossed salad (no spaghetti for Mom). And, of course, lots and lots of WATER!
I kinda solved my Easter candy problem (actually DH solved it for me). I'm only filling plastic eggs for the kids with candy for the egg hunt. No extra candy in the baskets. Whatever won't fit in their eggs will be bagged and sent to DH's new job for the staff there (let them worry about excess weight -- all are skinny). The kids will devour the candy they get on Sunday so there won't be any left lying around to tempt Mom on Monday.
Well, that's the plan. How are the rest of you handling this weekend?
Morning Jo! Glad to see you back and glad to see your enthusiasm for getting back to op living. Between your enthusiasm and Susan's thread I am back in the groove after eating my face off yesterday. (can you see how my eyelashes look a little sparse today? )
I will say this...Trader Joe's chocolate cat cookies are EVIL. Today I dump them. But! I refuse to be like Dimsdale (not sure if that is the right name) the minister in the Scarlet Letter who flogged himself repeatedly for his sins. I HAVE to go to the Library today to get that darn book because it is taking up WAY to much space in my head. I don't have much space there to begin with!
Hard boiling eggs today is definately a priority! That and keeping the boys from getting into trouble.
I am pmsing and I am so cranky I can hardly stand myself...my poor family they deserve better so midol might be in order today!
Good Early Morning Everyone!! It is still dark out here, but yesterday after I posted our server was so busy I could never get back to this website! Nothing like throwing a monkey wrench into my "I want to stay in touch vow" I did get my exercise in yesterday and got the laundry and house cleaned, but the carpets will have to be tomorrow. My MIL called DH yesterday at work and said that the only time that she could "fit in" a visit to us while she is in IL is this afternoon. My son has a track practice and is having a friend over and my DH will be at work and she was told this but.....anyway DH is coming home from work to enjoy the visit too. Did so well with the eating yesterday until about 9:00 and then I joined my family in a bowl of ice cream should have just gone to bed!
Jo, Nice to meet you--hope we both get the chance to come here often--the support is so important.
Hey Peach, I am joining you on the PMS--I'm not sure that Midol is going to be enough!!
MamaJ,Since I have been away I have missed what is going on with you and yours--looks like maybe you have been having some tough times? Hoping that things are on the right track for you! Take care!
Jen, I have a big class this year because of the money situation at our school. Ordinarily we split the grade when it is 25 or more. This year because of our school's financial problems I got all 31 3rd graders. I always say that I am "efficient" but really hope that I am "effective" at the same time. I love the sound of that PJ party. My co-teacher and I are in charge of Read Across America activities every year--I might have to "steal" that one for next year. Are you sure you and your family don't want to finish off the year with me?????? You guys are terrific!
To everyone else to follow--hope you have a "Good Friday" I will try to check back in today if the server isn't so busy--take care all!!!!
Last night, I was hoping for a romantic evening with my dh, the boys are spending the night at grandma's so they could be with her today, while I am at work. But darn, it became his turn to get sick. We did get to watch a couple movies together, without interuption. We watched Training Day which Denzel won his Oscar, it was ok, but he has done so many better movies than that one. Even though the night was not so romantic, it was nice sleeping next to dh without a couple little boys joining us.
Jo, nice to see you back.
Sue, keep posting!
Peachie, Trader Joe's chocolate cat cookies, never heard of them, but I guess that is a good thing.
Adoannie, nice to see you posting so early. This is a great time to jump on and post.
MamaJ, I do hope you continue to post more often, miss you.
Pooky, hope you are not too busy, hope to see you drop in for a minute or two. I bet that Miree is excited about Easter coming.
Good morning Early Cchicks and chicks to come in later.
Nice to see you back, Jo. We all need another dose of enthusiasm and determination in here - at least I do.
Peachie, why are you thinking about The Scarlet Letter? Anything to do with the full moon? By the way, we never used to have PMS when I was your age - just a really *****y day before our periods. Must be new-fangled.
Adoannie - 25 and the class got split! I did not realize that kids classes are so small nowadays. The first year I taught I had 39 in my Grade 5 class! Of course, kids were different then. We could hug them - maybe that's the difference.
I went to a Fair Board meeting last night, gave my financial report, made my excuses and came home! I think I am smartening up! Maybe I'll just hang onto this sling when my arm heals and use it for meetings. You just need to hold your arm and look pained and mutter "need drugs" and you can get away with anything.
Hershey took off on one of her foraging trips this morning and brought back half a roast chicken to share with the puppy. She was not pleased when I took it away from her! (I have a neighbour who throws out her leftovers - wish she'd pop them in my fridge instead of into her open garbage can. Her mother and sisters take plastic containers when they go to Sue's for dinner - she has this no-leftover obsession.)
Not much planned for today. We just might go out for lunch.
Ruth, I remember too when I was in grade school we had big classes of over 30 kids and the teacher was always so cool, calm and collected. I wonder how you and she did that--I don't know maybe I look that way on the outside, but I always feel frazzled on the inside. I just want to make sure that I am doing everything I can for every kid I have. Our school tried to keep the K-3 classes small so that the kids could get extra attention and help. It was really nice for them and us, but maybe that's why we are having money problems?? Anyway, I am really lucky because the 31 kids that I have are real sweethearts and that makes the job LOTS easier.
Morning Chickadees,
It is very nice to meet you Jo. I look forward to getting to know you. I am a fairly new poster to this board and think these chicks are pretty cool.
I have a secret... yesterday was my birthday. I had a nice day. DH worked from home and little sick boy was under his wing. I have not had a day with out at least one in tow for about a month and I really needed to get a few things done with out being called MOMMY all day. I too must be PMSing because being called all the time by the kids is on my very last nerve.
I had a lovely facial in the morning and then finished all the purchasing for the master bath. I took myself for a cup of coffee and a magazine and enjoyed the solitude. DH sent me red roses and my friend that owns the bagel shop in town sent me a lovely yellow tulip arrangement. The flowers smell so nice in the house and it makes me glad that spring is getting closer.
I have to say I am lucky. My son's second grade class is 20 children and 2 teachers. Lots of attention for the kids. Today he has a presentation as Thomas Edison. He looked kind of cute dressed as him today.
I am off to take the 3 four legged girls to the vet this am.
Good Friday to all, and a wonderful day,
-L
Happy Belated Birthday L!!!! Sounds like you had a well-deserved "me-time" day! Hope your little Thomas Edison's presentation goes well. Sounds like a neat idea. Hope today goes just as well for you!!
I had to chuckle at the amount of children in class rooms now. My granddaughter and grandson go to a school that has 52 children total. There are three classrooms with multiple grades in them. The teachers are wonderful and the education is excellent. Happy Easter everyone.
Was hoping to sneak in some posting time but dh just phoned. The son of close friends of ours was just killed. We were all together just last Friday. Only 21 with a 3 month old baby. My heart is just breaking for them right now.
I'll try to check back in later. Still in shock and upset right now.
I am stopping in to say hi after a VERY intense week at the daycare--the little ones were so riled up for Easter coming we had our hands full just getting them settled most days. I have yet another week ahead of me in the same room so I am taking this much needed rest day (read: NO housework, NO cooking) and just relaxing and doing what I like to do. Easter Sunday we are going to my grandma's and spending time with my family and then. Until then we're telling bunny stories and colouring eggs with Miree. She's already asked me if the Easter bunny is coming soon--she's so excited! I may take her to grandma's house early so she can go to church with her. She was there last week and enjoyed palm Sunday with her so I imagine that she will get some very nice eggs this tie around. I love Easter with little ones, just puts a big sileon my face!
Oh Janice, I just read your post and you have my prayers and sympathy ...
