Good Morning - just spent 20 mins chasing Miss Lucy in the meadow. I guess that is my day's exercise. Lovely sunny day coming up.

We are off to Ottawa to that creep of a lawyer - need to hand over the condo keys and sign off stuff. Then I wait for the cheque for what remains after I pay the mortgage balance. DH wants to do the Chinese Buffet for lunch. I'm going to have to be very careful. The "girls" will be on their own from 11 until about 4 - sure hope the house is still standing when we get back!

Just got caught up on last night's posts. What a diverse, supportive and caring group we are. I wish we could all gather around my kitchen table for coffee and do in person hugs.

See you later.

Morning ladies,

Quiet Thursday for me. I think that I will begin making some Shamrock brownies for my boys' classrooms. I am bringing them in on Monday, but I have to make 50 and they are made in individual pans and I only have 4! So that means at least 13 batches.

Anyone making corned beef and cabbage this weekend. I have a great recipe that I need to dig out that uses an orange and beer in the cooking process. Hope I can find it, the whole family loves it. I love being Irish at least one day a year.

Scooby, I know how exciting new equipment can be at the gym.

Ruth, wish Kudo could give me a workout, now as it is, I think he wears himself out just walking across the street. He has this tree he could sniff for hours if I let him.

Sherrie, I vote for changing your dear daughter's last name. It will only cause confusion and questions as she grows. A divorsed friend of mine, who has remarried, is always referred to as Mrs "x-husbands last name" because her son has his name. She cannot change his name because the x is still in the picture, but she would change it in a heartbeat if he was not around.

Hugs to all, stay op!

Good Morning!

My aching back! I am going to go buy a new mattress and boxspring today! Ours is 6 years old and is saging in all the worst spots. It was a fairly cheap set and after two pregnancies and me at over 250 lbs, I'm sure it's ready to retire. I want a very nice, super firm, very TALL set! Now just to decide on what brand!

Oh Sherrie, I just caught up on yesterday's posts and my heart hurts for you. I am no expert, but if it were me I would definitely change your daughter's last name. It is reassuring to know that you and she are safe. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like you're quite done with this lunatic!

My girls and I have been heading to the Y in the mornings to swim together. DD#2 (26 months) is not liking the water too much. But, if I stop moving she will let go of me with one hand and actually swish it around a little.

Ruth, are you hanging in there? I hope the pain is not too unbearable.

That's about it here in rainy Olympia - although, it is quite possible that I see some sunshine poking through! Maybe Spring is coming!!!

Have a great day Chicks! See you later!

Hi Cluckers,
Okay Ms. Peach, today will not be Chickadee free as per your request! I've been a busy, busy person these last few days, although I can't for the life of me figure out what I've gotten done.

Sherrie I wish I had a really great solution for you, but the best I can offer is hugs and promise to listen whenever you need to vent! That sounds like a horrible situation. I agree with whoever it was who said that it sounds like he's the one choosing not to see your child, not the other way around.

Jenny (You got green because of all those darn brownies!) Are you nuts? 13 batches? You are a much better mom than me. I'd probably put some green decoration on the top of regular square brownies and be done with it. I remember one Christmas when I spent hours making cookies that looked like lights. I strung them on red licorice strings, frosted them all kinds of colors, and sprinkled them with colored sugars for that twinkly effect, only to be upstaged by some marshmallowy, snowman thingies! (See Sooner, this is where my dislike of the lights started!) I've never been the same since!

Ruth Sorry, I'm busy on the day we're all sitting around your kitchen table! I know with my luck I'd get stuck smack in the middle of Peach and Janice blowing egg guts at each other! I hope you're feeling a bit better today!

I am proud of me because for the last two days (two whole days!) I've managed to fit exercise into times I normally wouldn't have. During my daughter's soccer practice last night I walked bunches of laps instead of yakking it up and the day before, I made my DH go for a walk with me. I always feel like a shih-tzu next to him - me with my stump-like legs taking four steps to his one. Today will have to be an exercise tape because it is snowing again. I'm ready for spring!

Have a good one Chickie-poos!

Default Dear Sherrie

I've given your post about the "anonymous sperm donor" -father of your child a lot of thought. (That's what we used to call my granddaughters biological father. )

Obviously, he is trying to play some kind of game. Perhaps he thinks that if he plays at being an interested father, the law will go easier on him. NOT! Perhaps, he is between needy woman and mistakenly thinks you would want him in your life. NOT! He might just need someone to bother since he has a lot of time on his hands! Who know...who cares!

I don't know if you can change a childs name without both parents written approval That's something to research. Please be advised that the fool will probably not give his consent just to be a pain in the you-know-where!

One thing he doesn't realize is that you're not the same person he knew back then. You're a strong woman and you can handle whatever that idiot tries.

Be careful about security. If he is on the street, he might try something stupid. If he is blaming you for all his problems as this type does, he might try to bother you. Be street-smart, both with your child and by yourself.

Default Frustrated

Hey chickies...this is the fourth post I've attempted to put up on the board. Cyberspace seems to want very much to eat my words... bad, bad Cyberspace! Doesn't it know my words are totally OP?

Sher - you are in my thoughts and prayers. As you know, only you can make the decisions that you are now making... no one else can do it for you. That said, remember that you are NEVER alone. K? ((((())))))

Ruth, how did lunch at the Chinese buffet go? I dined at an AWESOME Thai place. Yum. Chicken Satay...

Signed up at the Y - will swim tomorrow! YAYAYAY! Love to all of you!

Quickly scribbling down the directions for how to make the colored light cookies....why am I beginning to twitch?

I was going to write about my weigh in today...but I think I will make a seperate post about it so as not to muck up the daily.

Quiet day today, although the little guy was home. I woke him up this morning and he went right back to sleep....so, of course I thought he MUST be sick RIGHT? Well, he IS sniffling but I feel like a dope, but no dopier than the time when the big kid was just a babe in his car carrier and I put him on the kitchen table and HE fell asleep. I called the doctors office, and said, "My baby just fell asleep!" and they said......

"Maybe he is tired!"

What a dopey mom I was (am?)

Talking Hello, all!

Friday is so close I can almost see it. You know what that means! Yep, Saturday, which is sleep in day and almost as good as payday!

First of all, let me say that you guys really came through for me, just like I knew you would. It helps to have another perspective or 2 to see things from. Now I have a big decision to make and a lot of pros and cons to go through. Thank you for your kind thoughts and hugs, all of you!

I had a nice relaxing day at the cemetery, NOT! You would think things would be calm and peaceful around there, wouldn't you? Anyway, the SH boss is at it again. My stock reply to his shenanigans is, "Bill, have you taken your medication today?" He hates that! I try to be nice, but SOME PEOPLE!!!!!!!

Have a wonderful day, everyone! I'm trying to stay OP but failing miserably! Back to the salt mines for me, I'm afraid.

Hello ladies,

Had a heck of a time with the computer today. I don’t know what is going on but I find it very frustrating. First there was no connection then it took forever to have things downloaded.

Nice day today, following much excitement yesterday, due to DH receiving promotion to Full Professor. YAY!!! He works extremely hard and I was so happy for him.

Eating is fine too, even with last night's celebratory dinner. Tomorrow I'll get my hip x-rayed to see why it is hurting. If I am to grow ANOTHER one, I am not going to stop walking!

Sherrie, I hope you do not mind a newcomer offering her 2cents' worth but if your daughter is having nightmares, do you think it would be possible for you to find a therapist who specializes in play therapy? Your fury is absolutely understandable and I applaud you for the effort you made to keep the father of your child in her life as long as it was possible, for her sake. It seems that a good child therapist ought to be able to help you with your decision regarding the name change and everything else that pertains to your thoughtful decision regarding your daughter.

Peach, an Asperger's kid? I ADORE THEM!!! Well, actually all the PDD spectrum kids . If the "covering doc" thinks this is just a behavior problem he must be quite high functioning. Do you happen to know what symptoms they are addressing with the psychostimulant? If it is effective, I wonder why they want to try Risperdal? In any event, if his MIA doc is prescribing anything for ongoing treatment, I can't imagine why the covering MD can decide to withhold it. Hope you can resolve this in a satisfactory manner for the sake of your little boy, for yours and for that of the teacher .

Sue, thank you for your understanding regarding my inability to address everyone, at least most days. I am a terrible writer (very slow) and when I do it and then I fail at getting it posted I just want to sniff, sniff WAAAAAHHHHHHHH

Have a good rest of the day all,

ST

Hey Twitchy,
To make the lights use a strawberry shaped cookie cutter and attach a little square at the not-pointy end, make a hole in it for the licorice string, and, voila!, lights! But, it's not worth it - I repeat it's not worth it, unless you've checked out the competition first for snowman thingies!

Chickadee, who is still anti-Christmas lights

p.s. Did I read you right? Dopey is the father of your children? Do they have big floppy ears? And how did you, well you know - never mind. That leaves Sleepy, Bashful, Doc, Sneezy, and Happy for you all. Grumpy's already taken - I married him!

OK, I would just like to say that Ineed to vent!!! So read no furhter if you don't want to hear it, OK?

I was in the senior room class today and the ECE teacher in there was someoen who is usually on the toddler room side. She hasn't been in the room all week and I have but she comes in there and starts treating me like I'm some stupid flunkie!! I was incredibly angry--I mean, the last straw was when she told me I couldn't put a daycare blanket on a child because the child didn't bring it from home and if he used it he would get it dirty and we would have to wash it! I decided right then and there I was NOT going to work with her again tomorrow so I marched myself right into the interim manager's office (we're hiring a new one) and told her that I would not work with this woman again and that she'd better find someone else to take the shift because I am staying home! She apologized to me--twice--agreed to give the hours to someone else, and told me that a teacher in the junior room is sick and I could be called in there. So...tomorrow, provided I'm not called in to work in the junior room, is a mommy and me day with me and Miree. Snow White video and playdough--the makings of a perfect day. And my question for the day is--who the H _ _ _ died and made HER God?? Grrrr.........

OK, vent done and now I'm tired and I'm ready to go to sleep away this day. Hoping for a better tomorrow!
