Default Weekend - January 12 and 13

Hey! I must be getting better to be up this early!

Last evening was interesting to say the least! A friend gave me a 75gram box of Hershey's chocolates. I put it in the middle of my kitchen table and went to vacuum some carpet. By 5:30 the dogs had demolished it! Hershey was the ringleader (she's tall) and probably ate most of them but little Lucy had choclate breath too. Hershey is smart enough to read her name maybe?

So, on the vet's orders, we administered the right stuff (ipecac)and waited for the throwing up to start! And it certainly did! We had a late and small dinner with very little appetite. The mutts were very subdued for the rest of the evening.

So....shall I mention this when I thank my friend? Guess not as she is the type who feels guilty if YOU bump into HER!

This morning I have a Wardens' meeting here at 8:30 so need to go get stuff organized. Have a great Saturday,

Angry g'mornin'

happy saturday! I am up early to get my "to do" list going and get some coffee into me. DH and the cat are curled up in bed- as cozy as that looks, I need the time to myself more!

Hi Ruth, wow, that sounds like a rough morning, go back to bed and start again!

I was not OP the past 2 days, it all just fell apart. But I am feeling better today, and always do best on the weekend. I might take a walk (see, McMom, you helped someone already!)

Not much happening here, I'll check back later.

Morning Ruth! Morning Dottie!

Ruth....YUCK! Glad Hershey and Lucy are doing ok now! They would be safe in my house...I think I have eaten all the chocolate around here...took me long enough. Sure do have a bunch of cheerios for them tho!

Dottie, I hope that you have a really nice weekend and grab as much of that time for your self as you can.

Ti-county wrestling this morning and weigh ins tonight for tomorrow's tournament for the big kid today. I hope to squeeze in his book report project in between. I think we will do a radio commercial for this one. Shoot! These things get complicated! I hear that in May we have to make them period costumes so that they can be in a wax museum. They stand around with their reports and you press a button and they stand up on a box, in costume and read their report. I hope I pass second grade!!!!

Which reminds me....AdoAnnie...what are my chances for passing 3rd grade??? slim to none? Hope that you are taking meds for that sinus infection...they are NO fun!!! Finally the doc put me on claritin and nasal sprays...not pretty but since I have been doing it regularly I have not had an infection. (knocking on my own head now!!!) Feel better soon ok?

Have a good one, sanity and balance...kind of like walking the high wire lately!!!

peach
ps...Sooner...my hair is brown...sort of streaked with gold and gray...time for a touch up and I never did turn red...to my disappointment

Default Hi

Good morning all!! Back from our conference on Thursday night. It was at a beautiful INN in the Great Smoky Mountain Park. IT was very nice, great food, great accomodations, tons of work. The Jacuzzi tub helped tho!!!!

Ran around at work yesterday like a chicken with no head...or a puppy who had eaten a box of chocolate.!!!! (sounds horrific Ruth)

The good news was I passed my certification test!!! I got my notice on Thursday...This is quite a big deal in the Human Resources world, my boss sent me flowers, the VP of our department called me, it was all quite nice. I guess I underestimated the punch this would have. Pretty cool!

Not much planned for the weekend the kids missed me and were cranky so I guess I will hang out with them, I need to hit the grocery store and the Y for some exercise. I have committed to myself to go 4 mornings this week and work out. A lofty goal but I am up for it.!!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend...I hafta go catch up on all the posts!!!!!

Morning!

Dogs are pottied, cat box is tended, dh is out of town, my one last young 'un at home is still snoozing away, and COFFEE'S ON!

Oh my gosh, Ruth...yucky doggies! Your story reminds me of one Tom tells about a Lab they had when he was a boy who got into a 5# box of chocolates that was under the Christmas tree while the family was gone for the evening. He ate the WHOLE THING (Labs are notorious gluttons -- I've always felt I have a kind of psycho/gastro connection w/them) and then proceeded to barf it all over the house. My MIL is a saint...but I imagine this is just the kind of testing that made her one!

Rachel -- CONTGRATULATIONS on the certification! Your conference sounds wonderful -- I LOVE the Smoky Mountains!

Peach -- SEWING?!! That is my worst nightmare. I mean it. I am digitally disordered when it comes to anything that even hints of needle and thread (7th grade home ec tramatized me forever)... But, I feel confident that you will rise to the occasion (or find a good, inexpensive seamstress like I have!). Also, I just got a new hair color I'm going to try -- Wally World was out of my Preference Light Reddish Blonde -- called Copper Penny. I was w/ds when I bought it and he said, "You know, Mom, just 'cause you buy that color, you're not going to look like that girl on the box." No kidding! I thought if I slapped this color on my head I would suddenly lose 50 pounds and 25 years...that's why Loreal got my $8!

Nice to see you, Dottie. I always enjoy your posts. Have a great weekend. I'm determined to get back on track this weekend, too. And w/kids getting back to school and dh on the road, it's feeling very do-able.

Have a great one. It's a gift.

Sooner (who looks enchanting by Christmas light)

Morning Everyone!! Well, as I continue to whine..... Yesterday continued to go downhill. After having the chills all day long I ended up getting a laryngitis by bedtime--absolutely NO voice. If you knew how much I loved to talk you would realize how PAINFUL this is for me. Couldn't even cheer at my DS's game last night-- a real barn burner. What an emotional game that was---he made a great shot to send his team into overtime and then in the overtime he missed one of two free throws that would have put them into a second overtime. He was crushed--even more so when he overheard his coach complaining to someone about freethrow shooting. Anyway, the story picks up with me noticing that my eyes are pretty bloodshot before I go to bed, I of course think it is because I am totally exhausted--foolish me---I wake up in the middle of the night with both of them firmly stuck shut---yes you guessed it pink eye or eye infection, which is going around at our school. Since I am literally falling apart at the seams I guess that I will break down and drive down to the "Big City" and go to Prompt Care today. On the diet front the scale remains down the 3 lbs.

Ruth, sorry to hear about the chocolate fiasco---glad your babies are alright though!

Peach, thanks for your kind words. Your son's teacher seems to be very creative but WOW!!! She sure expects a lot. You can come be in 3rd grade where I teach--I will make sure you pass---I have connections!

Sooner, Your story about your DS cracked me up!! "Gee honey, you don't think so?" Bet the color will go great with your Valentine tree lights! By the way--I live about 40 miles south of the QC--

Dottie, enjoy your quiet time before the day's frenzy begins.

Hello to all who follow---I will probably be back later--since I can't talk to anyone at home--I will have to come here so I don't go any crazier than I already am!! Take care!

Hi all,

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I had a very nice day. Was tempted to have a free eating day but realized that with my history one day would turn into a week. Besides, there really wasn't anything I was dying for (even passed up my German chocolate b-day cake), so I would have been eating just because it was my birthday. Also, I'm feeling so much better physically and emotionally since I've been back OP. I'm glad I was able to not fool myself that I could pig out for one day or one meal or one piece of cake and get right back OP. Can't happen for me right now.

Ruth - Of course Hershey thought the chocolates were for her. Her name was on the box right?

Rachel - Congratulations!

Annie - Hope you feel better.

Think I'm going to have an at home day today and join the de-clutter brigade.

Hi dottie, Peach, Sooner and all to come.

Have a good one!

Jennifer

Hi all... I'm late posting this I know cathy... sorry...

the 3hr fasting glucose went ok... I had horrific indigestion and felt like crud throughout it... and four pokes later both elbows are sore (even this morning). I should have the results Monday or Tuesday, but people are telling me it's a good sign that I didn't pass out or anything.

Ado Annie: I'm sorry to hear you are feeling so bad... I hate getting laryngitis too... although those around me look at it as a break I'm sure....

Sooner: I hope you had a nice bit of time to yourself to enjoy your coffee before your youngest got up and the animals started hounding you for something.

Scooby: Congrats on the certification... I missed what it was for, but it sounds like a really big deal! Stand proud... you did it.

Peach: I hope you pull off the costume... I can sew (just barely) and am hoping that sewing is one of the things that just sort of comes naturally once you become a mom - sort of like hearing the baby cry in the night?

Dottie: I hope you enjoyed your walk and that your todo list wasn't too long.

Ruth: I'm glad both of your babies seem to have come through the chocolate episode unharmed. It sounds horrific. The dog we had growing up loved chocolate and luckily lived through every encounter... I don't even recall him getting sick from it, but I'm sure we were just lucky.

Have a good day everyone.

Hi!

It's late in the day I know but I have been up to my armpits in stripping OOOGLY wallpaper from my kitchen walls and analyzing my paint choices for the kitchen. Let's say 2 out of 3 ain't bad. The blue I chose was what you would call a little loud?

I am ready to finish up to get the kitchen prepared for painting. I like the yellow paint I chose, kind of a canary yellow colour. We'll see how far I get. All I know is that once again I over estimated just how much work would be involved--sheesh!

Have a good one!

Default Sunday morning

Morning Rachel and all to come- I'm up and have done a ton already too, and it's only 7:30. Put the last load of wash into the dryer, put away the dishes, sorted the mail. For today, I want to pay bills, go to Staples and Home Depot, and then maybe go look for shoes.(Is shopping on the exercise list, Pooky?)

Had the sweet neice for a while yesterday, helping me cook, then a piano lesson- she is so smart and fun, and she loves to come to our house. Our cat, however, heads for the hills when DN hits the living room! And DN is so dissapointed, I can't get the cat out from under the bed- she wants to hold the cat, but the cat won't cooperate. It's so cute and funny, neice on her knees trying to get this huge, fat cat from under the big bed! Well, we put on Cartoon Channel and just watched a little PowerPuff Girls til it was time to go. I am up to book 2 in the Harry Potter series, she is starting book 4! She is a great reader, takes after her aunt!

What else? Nothing, I guess. Think I'll go get another cup of coffee, and then take a shower.
See ya later,
dottie

Good Morning Rachel and Dottie and allthose to come!

It's my turn today to get up with the wee one who loves to get up at around 6am every day. My dh is sleeping like a log and is slow to rise.

Snowing like crazy here, heard the plow go by this morning so that's a good sign. Looks like I have to go and get some more yellow today so a trip to Home Depot is in order.

Thanks for allthe kudos on my decorating efforts, but if you saw this house, you would desperately want to change it too!

Have a good one!

Default Good Sunday, everyone

Had the decadent sleep-in this morning, didn't let my feet hit the floor until 9:30, which is very hard to do with a 4 year old in the house. Bless my mama.

Yesterday I cleaned this house within an inch of its life. And this morning, as you probably know, you can't even tell! Ugh! So it's off to the salt mines again shortly. Also, saw my darling little nephew yesterday, what a CUTIE! So glad he's not mine, though, I remember fondly those hours of crying and walking and singing and patting....glad they're over!

Hope you all have a wonderful last day of the weekend!
