Default The Daily Cluck – Tuesday – December 4th

Good Morning Everyone!

Thanks for the warm welcome back! You guys are the BEST FRIENDS anyone can hope for.

Got up early this morning, it’s my mother in-law’s birthday. We waked her by playing a song about how much we lover her and what a great mom she is. We all pitched in and bought her a new video camera. Her old one was giving some problems. She was so overwhelmed she started crying.

I want to ask the people that is following the CAD program (Hellerman) if I understand the rules correct. I want to make sure before I change over from Atkins to the new plan that I am on the right track.

- No eating in between meals, accept drinking water, and black coffee or tea.
- 2 complimentary meals per day which should consist of a protein with some veggies or salad.
- The reward meal should not last longer than 60 minutes, in that time I can have a piece of cake or some fruit.
- The 2 complimentary meals should be at the same time every day like breakfast and lunch and then dinner is your reward meal.

Can I have some of the high protein bread with the 2 complimentary meals (the recipe is at the back of the book) for example 2 baked eggs with some of the bread and black coffee for breakfast, and a tuna salad with a slice or two of the protein bread for lunch?

Should I pay more attention to the fat persentage of some foods, with the Atkins plan it did not matter?

Am I allowed tea with milk only when I am having my reward meal, or should I continue to use cream and not milk like on the Atkins plan?

If I am allowed to use milk should it be fat free or regular?

How frequently do you change between the different plans?

Which plan does you guys find works the best?

Sorry for all the questions, I think I better start working now, have allot of work waiting.

Enjoy your day!

Remember to drink that water!!

Good Morning Hensa and all those to come!

Just flying in and out to say hi and how are you and Hensa welcome back and Merry Christmas! Have a TON of stuff to do today and very little time to do it in (isn't that always the way?)

Drink your water!

Good morning all!

The whirlwinds in Ontario are from Pooky and me as we get into the Christmas frenzy. I did the big domestic yesterday but did not get as much done as expected as I felt crappy (literally!) in the afternoon. However, thinkgs are well underway this morning as DH has even done the dump run!

Hensa - I am not familiar with CAD, just with CALP. Looks like you have it understood. Basically it's no or low carbs two meals and the third meal is a "reward" meal. I think CAD lets you eat as much as you want in that one hour with no carb or fat restrictions whereas CALP wants you to balance your meal with equal amounts of carbs, protein and veggies. I'm not sure about the carb count in the protein bread - it might put you too high carb for the two complementary meals.

I'm sure some of the other Chicks will have stuff to say too.

Hi Everyone!
Hensa, since I'm a true-blue CAD girl, I'll try to answer your questions.
1. Yep, I don't eat between meals. Actually, I very rarely eat breakfast, usually just brunch. I'm just not too hungry during the day. If I am really hungry for some odd reason, I have a small protein snack and that takes care of it.
2. It's very, very important that you don't exceed the one hour limit on reward meals. When I'm cooking, I don't even taste anything until I'm sure my whole planned meal will fit into the hour. When I was on this before, extending the hour was my downfall. I watch the clock like a hawk. (Hey, I'm a poet!)
3. During the Reward Meal, I literally have whatever I want. I almost always have a glass of wine and plan for some wonderful dessert. I do find that I eat less of the sweet stuff as times goes on. Less satisfies more quickly now. I'm not very good about balancing my Reward Meal, but I do eat veggies everyday.
4. You can make the high protein bread that's in the recipe at the back of the book, but I think it's horrible! I've tried a lot of those recipes and now if I want bread, I just wait til my RM and have the real thing. I really don't miss it during the day.
5. I do not worry about the fat percentage in foods either. Low fat foods tend to be higher in carbs, so I go for the real thing. Generally, it doesn't take that much of the real thing anyway. Use milk or cream during your RM. During that hour, you can do whatever you want.
6. I've gotten much better at listening to my body. So, as I said, I usually only have one really good complementary meal and the reward meal, so I'm not sure which plan that is. Some people can't do the Reward Meal like I do so I guess I'm lucky. I usually don't even feel like I'm on a diet!
7. I lose the best when I drink lots and lots of water. When I get stuck, I've learned that the first thing to do is look at water intake.
Sorry this is so long, but I hope it helped!

Hi,
Had a great time in the Big Apple. Ate waaaaay too much but walked a lot. Went to Ground Zero which was very moving and saw Beauty And The Beast and The Lion King which were fantastic. Can't wait to go back.

My brother, Tim, is a member of the Louisiana National Guard & left for Turkey this morning for 90 days-1 year. Please keep him and his company in your prayers.

Hensa - Welcome back!

I'm going on a 3 day fat fast starting tomorrow to try to undo some of the damage I did in New York.

Have a great day!
Jennifer

Hi Ladies,

Went clothes shopping at lunch, how depressing. I went to the Goodwill for some pants. I refuse to spend a lot on clothes that are for my temporary state of weight, although this temporary weight has been here way to long I purchased some very nice black dress pants and a brand new top, all for just over $6.00!

Planning on grocery shopping and going to the craft store, Michaels after work, with the boys in tow

Have a great op day!

Default Afternoon Lovely Chickies!!!

Just a few quick minutes to say hello to everyone!

Very busy day in the office and DH has been in here most of the day which often takes me much longer to get things done. He's one of those that jumps from project to project and then wants to know what takes me so long to finish something! Duh! It's called LET ME STAY FOCUSED !

Jennifer-glad you had a great vacation! Prayers going up for your brother!

Jenny-I'm with you on spending too much $ on clothes-but-also still not letting go of this extra weight! I have to break down and buy some soon!!

Ruth & Pooky - I wish you'd send some of your Christmas energy AND accomplishments! Still not one present bought !

Chickadee--WTG on your weight loss !!

Leens-Now girlfriend!!!!! I've seen a picture of you and I do not believe you need Omar to make you a tent! LOL You'll be gorgeous mom even if you did wear a tent!

Hensa-Welcome "home" ! Nice to have our African Violet back! We've missed you!

Hi to all lurking and those to come! Sure wish some of our missing in action people could stop in. HINT-HINT

Have a great one!

J

PS-Hensa-I'm a CAD girl, too. I follow very close with Chickadee's eating. I do have to remind myself of balance and portion control for my RM. But am not bothered by cravings.

Red face

UHG! Who the heck would think that I need help with my second grader's math homework. How many faces how many edges how many corners to spheres, cylinders, cubes and pyramids! The engineer says one thing, the bio-chemist (jiff) says another, the accountant another and of course old mom here and the second grader have another answer. sheeesh I guess we will let the high school math teacher in the family settle this little dispute...most likely we will all be in need of a lawyer before this crap is done!

I am pleased to announce that my crafting is just about over! I have had it! so I am tying up lose ends, bits of paint and packing it in for the holiday season HO HO HO HO AND hitting the malls. Unfortunately I went with dh today..what a mistake that was...I feel it is my patriotic duty to shop and HE is convinced that having an Uncle Sam wall paper border in the kitchen is patriotic enough! hmmmmm hope that lawyer gets here soon!!!!

on that lovely note!!!!

fa la la la la...and all that good stuff!

Have a good one chickies, and Hensa, I am glad you are back

peach
wonder if the santa avatar worked? I love santa!!! Santa? Uncle Sam? hmmmmm maybe I DO need therapy!!!!! Gosh where is that Dottie when ya need her!!!!!
