Alright, I pulled the trigger yesterday and got one of the Smoky Mountain Mineral kits yesterday. Hopefully it'll get here next week. I will note my shipping wasn't free (admittedly I didn't look very long/hard for a promo code) but it was extremely reasonable at around $2 or $3. But there are a lot of products, including brushes, for $50.
I'm very picky about my makeup because I'm extremely self conscious about my face so I'll be sure to report back.

SMM offers 3 types of shipping. First Class Shipping is Free. SMM is located in North Carolina, I live in NJ and usually receive my order in 4 or 5 days. They also offer Free First Class Shipping With Insurance for $2.95 and US Priority shipping for $6.95.
If you sign up for their email newsletter, they will send you discount codes pretty much every week.
As I said previously, I have been using SMM for 6+ years and LOVE it. I wouldn't use any other foundation (and I've tried MANY, including BE). I also LOVE their new cream concealer, their bright eyes pink concealer, their soft pink blush, their dark mauve blush, their bronzer for light skin, their Be Flawless Veil. I guess I'm an SMM addict!

I haven't used liquid foundation in probably 10 years.
FYI, I apply my moisturizer and allow it to sink in (while I'm doing my hair or eating breakfast), I then apply primer (usually Rimmel Fix & Perfect), then I apply my SMM mineral foundation. I use the EcoTools retractable kabuki brush. I shake the foundation to get some on the lid of the jar (you don't need very much and if you want more coverage you can always add more), I swirl my brush into the foundation so that it disappears into the bristles. I then tap the brush on the side of the jar to remove any excess. Then I begin buffing (small circular motions) into the skin. It may sound confusing but, you will get the hang of it.
I'm anxious to know how you like it!
OK. I got it in yesterday and tried it out this morning. I'm still experimenting so I'm sure I can make it look more "natural" but so far I like it. When I had just put on concealer and foundation, I thought "Oh my god.. this is not looking good." However, once I got past blush, veils and into the bronzer it looked much better. I feel its necessary to use the whole system for it to look best (on me).
It does feel very light which I like. I asked my husband what he thought and after mumbling a while about how he doesn't know anything about that stuff he gave me a general answer that it looks less like a mask or cakey. I'll keep using it for a few weeks and see if I can't perfect my technique.
I do like the price too. I got the $50 kit which came with two veils, two blushes, concealer, four color correctors, bronzer, foundation, brushes and... I feel like I'm forgetting something. Anyway, good prices.

Glad to hear your kit arrived and you are enjoying it so far
If you've never used mineral makeup it does take some practice. I think the most common thing is that people tend to use too much. A little goes a long way and if you feel you need more coverage you can always add more.
There are lots of video's on YouTube showing application of mineral makeup you can watch to help you with technique that may be helpful to you.
Did you sign up for the email newsletter? They offer specials every week. I ordered a refill of the finishing veil & the shine reduction powder this past weekend that would ordinarily cost $33.90....I got it for $22 and change!
I figured I could Google but between getting myself and the kids' harcuts, my daughter busting her nose and gushing blood (total freakout moment), homework, etc, etc. I haven't had time. I'll make do until this weekend with my somewhat limited skills and the how-to insert received from SMM taped on my bathroom mirror!
I do have SMM "Liked" on FB where the post some specials. I'm afraid everything gets buried in my email and I haven't been keeping up very well.
I use Maybelline *Fit Me* liquid foundation. I love the fact that it doesn't turn powdery after application, but stays nice end dewy. It also blends well, so I only use it on areas I need, not all over.
I have two different shades, one for summer, one for winter and I can blend them for in-between colors.

I find liquid foundations (especially the kind with the pump) last longer and go a little further if you don't mind that they're a little messier. However, foundations are tricky what with finding one that matches, covers enough, sits well on your skin and doesn't break you out, so really if you have something you like already, it might not be a bad idea to suck it up and resign yourself to buying it every few months. I had the Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage compact Foundation which was perfect for me even though being a compact, it lasts for like three seconds. I would happily re-purchase it over and over again if I could find it easily.
Right now, I'm using Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24h foundation for long wear. I've never actually worn it for 24 hrs but after 14 or so hours, it hadn't oxidized that much so it's pretty good and it didn't require any touch ups so you wear it and you're done for the day. Now admittedly, it's not cheap, but a little goes a long way so it lasts quite a while. I've used it everyday for like 5 months and I'm not even close to halfway through the bottle yet. So I could easily see this lasting a year.
