Default Microdermabrasion

I was at a spa today to get my eyebrows done and the esthetician who did them mentioned while looking at my skin under a magnifying glass type thing that I might want to consider a microdermabrasion treatment, as it would clear out my skin, etc.

Now knowing that she was obviously trying to upsell me, my skin could do with some refreshing and cleansing. I'm just wondering if this is the way to go and if it's worth the cost ($115 for a one-time treatment at this particular spa).

Does anyone have any opinions they'd like to share?

Thanks!

They sell at home microdermabrasion kits. While it's not as great as you'll get in a doctor's office or spa, it's worth it imo. I've had it done in a spa, and done it at home. I actually use the at-home thing weekly, and my skin is super smooth, for a fraction of the price.

Microdermabrasion is great for skin, but to get the best results you'd want to do it in a series of 6 or 8. That way you would see a difference in fine lines and wrinkles and hyperpigmentation from sun damage. It's also great as a deeper exfoliation than you would get from anything you'd use at home. It would remove dead skin cells and also helps if you have mild acne or blackheads. I have some scarring from bad acne as a teenager and it makes a definite difference when I get it done.

One microderm treatment would freshen your skin, but you wouldn't get the long term benefits from it.

Like bacilli said, the home treatments are decent. Your skin will feel smooth and clean and it's a lot cheaper than going to the spa. I think the Neutrogena microderm system was about $30. The pads cost about $10 for a months supply.

My friend just had her first microdermabrasion treatment and I knew before she even told me that she'd had something done. Her skin just looked amazing. We've comiserated in the past about having large-ish pores and I could tell that hers looked smaller (yes, I know, nothing makes your pores actually smaller but getting the gunk out sure makes a huge difference in how they looked). I can not wait to go.

Nicole I got this stuff from sephora made by philosopy called never let them see you shine, I got it to reduce shine but it made my pores non existant! I use the whole line from philosopy now. Im a big fan of facials/microderm I look brand new for about 2 weeks after microderm I go once every 3-4 weeks. Chemical peels are even better!

I used to get a facial w/ microdermabrasion once a month and loved how beautiful my skin looked!

I have the Microdelivery Peel which I use once a week along w/ their Oxygen Peel. I have to say, it is the best money spent!

If the monthly micro/facial is too much for you (try to get a deal by purchasing a seriers or ask for a special since it would be your first time) then I suggest Philosophy. Both kits would run you $105 (Microdelivery Peel is $65 and Oxygen Peel kit is $50 and both last a little over 6 weeks for me). hth!

I also use the philosophy microdelivery peel and it's amazing. I use it in conjunction with their microdelivery exfoliating face wash and my skin looks so good. I highly recommend them both!
