Enjoy your break Indy Robin. I did have a chance to look at Zen of EAting. It was not to my liking. It is very eastern. I really like western eastern books, if you get my drift -- Like Fit from Within. And Geneen Roth's books. But not really hardcore Buddhist books. That said, you might see if your library has it. I would recommend one of G.Roth's later books for you. The title is something like 'If you stand at the Refrigerator, pull up a Chair.' It is very much like Fit from Within - very short pearls of wisdom chapters.
Except for the holidays themselves, party season is pretty much over for me. And a mighty nice one it was. The gathering last night turned out to be a surprise early 60th bd party for me. I was totally surprised to say the least, And very pleased of course. A very pleasant evening indeed. Food-wise I said 'what the heck' and ate and drank pretty much what I wanted. But then that is what I mostly do anyway with moderation at gatherings. In retrospect it wasnt all that much, and the scale rewarded me this morning with a pound and a half birthday present loss.
Alas today was cookie exchange day....
And, I pretty much only have eaten cookies today and not much else. I suspect I have exceeded my daily caloric allotment, but probably not by much-- it was not a cookie binge, I just chose to eat my own cookies in lieu of other food. The cookies I received at the exhange for Christmas Eve are now duct-taped in a box in a metal filing cabinet in the garage - most are not very appealing, and frankly I feel pretty sugared out. The scale will probably reflect a gain compared to this mornings good number, but then it can be vindictive at times. The coming week is going to be pretty quiet celebration-wise, and I am really looking forward to that. I plan to spend much of the free time peacefully weeding in the garden, communing with nature.
