I enabled the pop up blocker in my browser but that didn't do anything. Is "Ad Blocker" a piece of software that I have to get from somewhere?

Thanks!

Googled Ad Blocker and installed it in IE and the ads are still there.

I'd like to formally complain about the ads in the posts. I don't mind them around the perimeter like they were but in the posts is too distracting.

Could you please forward my complaint to the proper people Bill?

Thanks!

I don't use IE (hate that browser). I use Chrome and just installed the AdBlock extension and no ads at all.
I'll have to check Safari at home. If I can't get rid of the ads there, I'll switch to Chrome on my Mac.

I'm getting the same ads; I've asked Internet Brands what's up.

At the bottom of the page you can change the style back from
Mobile One
to
3Fc ...
That helps a bit.

Ad Blocker works like a charm for me (I use Chrome as my browser) - there is not a SINGLE ad on this - or any other- page of 3FC, and like Allison, its icon says it blocked 11 ads on this page alone (yikes).

I have been battling some kind of gastritis, or possibly an ulcer, for the last few weeks. I had to go to urgent care Saturday before last because the pain was so bad I couldn't stand up straight. Of course, they couldn't do the test (endoscopy) that I actually needed for a diagnosis, but they ruled out other things like pancreatitis and hepatitis, and also gave me a prescription for omeprazole (Nexium), which I'm now taking twice a day. Still getting some pain on and off, but after 10 days on the drug, it is down to an occasional twinge. I will get the endoscopy next week (the soonest it could be scheduled) by which time I suspect that whatever I had will be gone as long as I keep taking the pills. This means I now take 4 meds a day, which I think is ridiculous for a supposedly healthy 50 year old <curmudgeonly grumble>.

The Quick Reply box is wider now but still has little depth. The Go Advanced box is still small. No ads here but I use Ad Blocker on Firefox.

Andrea, I'm joining up the dots between your post here and your post on the Losing a Little Bit More thread. Perhaps there could be a link between 'pain in your tummy' (I don't even want to try to be more technical with you as I know it would not be correct) and the few pounds which are creeping on? I don't know much about ulcers except that I believe they're associated with stress.

'Supposedly healthy' also leapt out at me in Andrea's post - about all of us. I'm so analytical that I wondered what 'supposedly healthy' actually means.

* Is it a private thing, just for ourselves? We are OK re most of the things on our own private list of healthy things? We can do almost everything we want? We can actually do some quite amazing things so feel protected from other illness which would be a big surprise?

* Does it mean not involving outside intervention (medics)? No life-threatening illness? Don't need to see a doctor? Not on medication?

Not sure where I'm going with this other than as a quick warm-up before I start editing a white paper about a type of cancer. Any comments welcome. Thanks for bearing with me.

Frost here this morning but the wind has dropped.

I've shut down and restarted my computer and now the ads are all GONE! Amazing how much more pleasant looking at the screen is now. I have to use IE because I print out things for business and Chrome was deleting lines of text for no apparent reason. They were there on screen but not on my piece of paper print out.

Birchie I feel like I am a physically healthy person. I'm almost 60 and I can do all of the things I need to do in life without (much) pain and effort. I take no meds for illness, get sick maybe once a year with a cold, have no chronic conditions, etc.

Emotionally I'm very lonely but I understand why and I'm planning a big change in 2-3 years. Mentally I feel like I'm pretty clued in to reality and stable. Slightly depressed but again that's a situational thing that can be changed.

The only really unhealthy thing with me is sleep. Again it involves lifestyle changes that I can't fully make until I stop making a living as a commercial dogwalker.

I would say I'm relatively quite healthy, even though I am technically "obese" at the moment.

I am 68. I take no prescription meds. I do take OTC allergy meds, vitamins, and sometimes antacids. BP 110/70, cholesterol under 200, triglycerides normal. Blood glucose in the 80s first thing, A1C normal. Vitamin D is low, so I'm taking more.

It used to be that we didn't hear the term "healthy weight." People weighed what they weighed, and health was possible at any size--except for the extremes. Now the range has narrowed to the artificial BMI chart.

My desire to lose weight is not motivated by health or vanity or guilt. Weighing less would just make my life easier. That's what it comes down to.

I've also got the annoying ads and everything looking wonky...

Not sure what I'm allowed to add at work so for now I will ignore....

Andrea-- hope you feel better quickly. Sounds very painful!

My dh was very subdued yesterday when he learned his coworker was just diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He is in his 50s (as is my dh). Dh had reflux badly for years and the doctors warned him this type of cancer could occur. Dh changed his eating habits (and drinking habits somewhat) and hasn't had issues for years, thank God.

Looks like we have gophers in the yard. Ugh.... wonder why they suddenly appeared. El Nino perhaps??

I thought I'd chime in on "healthy" because despite my cancer Dx I still feel very healthy. I have a few joint aches, pains, and stiffness, but exercise keeps them at bay. At present I take no meds, but I will begin taking an aromatase inhibitor (Arimidex) after my course of radiation. It blocks production of estrogen. There are no guarantees that cancer will never return, but until such time or until some other health issue crops up, I intend to enjoy my good health and fitness every day.

My recent experience has pointed out to me that our view of ourselves as healthy can change with a phone call. Some things can be avoided by doing all the correct "healthy" things, but some can't. Life is a death sentence, and we need to figure out how to discard the small stuff and enjoy the big stuff before the end comes.

Alice "life is a death sentence". I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that. Maybe a bit of both?

Thanks for chiming in, Alice. Glad to hear you're feeling healthy.

My joints are a little stiff this morning so I'll be moving away from the computer NOW to do a few moves.

Sorry Dagmar, I somehow completely missed that there were new posts in this thread. I'm glad restarting fixed it. I use Chrome but had to restart it for it go be effective after install, too.

Alice - glad you are doing well.

I am trying still to figure out what my healthy is. I finished day 15 of my 30 day meditation study, which makes 18 days in a row now with 10-15 minutes of meditation. My exercise has been pretty good, trying not to overdo and kill myself. My food has been alright. I am really enjoying the meditation, and I think I am responding to things from a more centered place lately. I feel calmer. Is that an illusion? Don't know. Only time will tell I guess. That calmer feeling is more important than the rest of the stuff to me right now, and I'm okay with that.

Silverbirch, I wish I could blame my weight gain on the gastritis (or whatever), but I've only had the stomach pain for 3 weeks, and the weight has come on slowly over 18 months. No, the sad reality is that I only need ~1600 cal/day to maintain, even if I exercise religiously 5x/week, and there are far more days that I'm over by 300 cals than under by 300. And definitely weeks that I don't get in 5 workouts because - life.

I said supposedly healthy because I take 4 meds a day now, which feels excessive. Both my physician self and my layperson self feel that healthy people shouldn't need to take 4 meds a day.
