March 7: 95 minutes Bikram Yoga-- fantastic class! The owner of the studio asked me when I got there if he could try something with me. Ummm....ok? He then had me do a couple of poses before class and then did some weird stretching thing to me. It really did seem to open me up with my back and I had a great class!

I was at my conference and used their extremely nice fitness room. It was my first time using an elliptical and I had a really hard time with it. The movement felt very unnatural - wonder if I was doing something wrong?
  • Saturday, March 9th:

60 minute spin class with weight intervals and also resistance bands, as this instructor seems to have been attending Soul Cycle classes
    60 minute Pilates mat class

Jen, I'm thinking way back to when I first got on an elliptical. As I recall, my feet used to get numb till I figured out how to keep my weight in my heels consistently. Also I switch the motion between peddling backward and forward. Ellipticals vary so much by model, make & manufacturer that I find it hard to compare my workouts on them unless I'm on an identical model. The elliptical is my friend. I've got various wear & tear issues with legs and feet, due simply to aging and the way carrying weight for years affected my joints before I lost the weight, so my running days are pretty much over. I'm dependent on machines for cardio unless I want to cope with spending half my time recovering from constant injuries.
  • Mar. 9: 23 min walk to/from gym, spin class, 40 min dog walk
  • March 9: 60 minutes weight lifting
    6 mile walk (1:45:02)

My feet didn't get numb, but I definitely found myself leaning forward on the balls of my feet. Also my legs didn't straighten all the way - which I think it is how it is supposed to work?? Just very weird for me, maybe because I am so used to running and lifting my feet up....?

The yoga teacher had a photographer that was taking photos and videos for her "resume". She asked our permission of course. She said she'll tell us her website when it's up and running. I always wonder what I look like in yoga so I'm eager to see the video and pics. If I don't look like too much of a fool, I'll post the website here....

Dh gave me a HRM for my birthday and I'm going to try it out for the first time this morning in Yoga....
