S/C/G: Maintaining 142-148

Height: 5 ft 8.5" athlete who can give a punch & certainly take one too! :)

Default Do I get a High Five for 5 years of Maintenance?

Hot Damn, I have 5 years of maintenance experience under my belt now, which means ONLY 35 more years of maintenance YET to go! Yup, once I'm an 80 year old lady, I'm eating 100% of whatever I want!

Things are pretty much the same ole, same ole for me in maintenanceland 5 years after the fact. I'm happy, healthy & fit and pushing 45! Although, I still feel like a teenager. I'm still dealing with double whammy injuries (both tennis & golfers elbow) which has my weightlifting regime idle. However, I get to do wrist curls with 20lb dumbells 3 times a day, so atleast that is something strength wise. I'm hopeful both injuries finally heal completely by years end, so I can resume my favorite hobby, (pumping iron) instead of just being a cardio queen! Improvements are happening, but soft tissue injuries take such a looooooooooooooong friggen time to heal. Thank goodness patience is my middle name!

In summary, I continue to eat healthy 80% of the time & 20% of the time not so much, plus I exercise daily, get my sleep on & I water myself often!

Yup, life is good & sweet for me in this spot called maintenance, 5 years later. I'm just hopeful for an injury free year 6, bring it! ~Wendalyn

Woohoo to five years! And cheers to 35 more!

You know, I've said that after I get to a certain age, I would do whatever the heck I want too, but I wonder if I'll really feel that why when I get there? Especially if I (and you) stay fit and healthy the entire time. Like maybe we'll be feeling so good we'll want to live to 100 in a healthy way? (not sitting in a home wasting away the last ten years).

You sure do!! High Five!!

I'm the same age as you (just turned 45) and have been maintaining for four years. When we are BOTH 80, we will get together and eat whatever we want to! I'm with you on that goal!

It's success stories like yours that give me hope that indeed this whole maintenance thing really CAN be done! Congratulations and I sincerely hope to be saying the same thing 4 years from now!

Two high fives and a couple of fist pumps for good measure, Wendalyn! You're rockin' it girl! Especially considering your injuries. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't do weight training--probably cry...

I'm willing to bet that at age 80 you will be feeling so good that you won't want to stop by eating whatever you want. That and being one of the few 80 year old hotties might be some motivation too.
