So we went to see Submarine Friday night. It was, um, different. Not at all what I expected from the trailers. I really expected something a bit more along the lines of Harold & Maud (a favorite of mine). I can't really pin down just what it was about except a boy, a girl and the boy's parents. I'm thinking Beginners would have been a much better movie, but alas, it was no longer playing here.

And then we went to see Green Lantern today. Cute movie. Entertaining.

I'm now half way to meeting my goal again! Three more weeks full time on Medifast and then we'll transition back to real food with my keeping it at full diet and increasing DH to maintenance.

Meanwhile, DH has requested lobster tail for dinner for Father's Day. I had to watch videos on You Tube this morning to understand how to do it! I fashion myself as a beginner foodie and I love to cook, but lobster has never been in my repertoire.

And my work clothes consist of jeans and shorts. Once I wore a skirt and everyone asked if I was going out for lunch or dinner with someone. Everyone. Well, the three people who were in the office at that time! But dressing up doesn't work well when one has to check in shipments. UPS? Their trucks are really dirty inside and all that dirt gets all over the packages.

These (in colour) are excerpts from today's headline story in the Toronto Star:

"This is releasing tension, man,” said a man in his twenties who set a garbage can on fire. “What else are you going to do when you lose the Stanley Cup? You riot.”

“It’s tough being a Canucks fan right now,” said a dejected Curtis Dick, during the game. “Only thing to do is go find something to eat."

I'm firmly in the second guy's camp. Sometimes it's embarassing to be a Canadian. I cna't believe they burned a car because they lost the damn hockey final. I am a hockey fan. I watched part of the game, ate a cheese sandwich, and then went to bed. Lke a normal person.

Here in Vancouver - 99.9% of us are devastated by what happened here on Wednesday.
100 or so mental midgets decided it would be fun to destroy our city for some reason?
The riot was preplanned by a small group - regardless of the outcome of the game.
Hockey really had nothing to do with it.
There were just perpetuating the bad behaviour of 1994.

Most of there people were between 19-22, not sure who raised these kids - but they did a lousy job.

Good thing Vancouver is better than the actions of a few of idiotic thugs - people are working hard to raise the city's spirits. http://thisisourvancouver.com/

sznn I certainly didn't mean to lump all hockey fans in with these people. As my post meant to say, most of us are normal people. And we can see that by the apologies and by the way people are informing the authorities about the identities of those who did the damage.

DH had an interesting theory. He suggested that the anarchist movement was to blame, as they were to blame for the G20 problems. Apparently they use situations like these to incite mostly young, mostly drunk males to do some regrettable things. Their members come prepared to events like these with facial coverings, incendiary devices, etc. Sounds like something from a movie, yes?

The Toronto Star printed a lovely photo of two people kissing amidst all the mayhem. The guy was comforting his girlfriend apparently, after she had been knocked down in the melee.

Let's hope we can all move past this and Vancouver can go back to it's laid-back, friendly normal self.

I never understand situations like that, bargoo. I suppose there are a few bad apples and they incite it and mob behavior takes over. Here they tend to riot with wins rather than losses, but it still makes no sense at all.
