Jessica - sorry DH has so much stress at work....

Lily - good to see you! Glad your weight is doing fine, and that DD is trying to eat better!

I have a serious headache tonight... I came home and did 100 minutes of swiss ball, strength training and kickboxing. I'm trying to figure out if I have a normal hormone headache, if I'm hungry, or if it is some sinus gunk. I feel it behind my eyes, in the right side of my head behind my ear and at the top of my neck. Yuck. May be time for some Tylenol & bed when the laundry I'm waiting on finishes up.

Yes, Lily-- what do you think motivated Lacy? Can you send some motivation to my dd? Actually, my poor dd seems extremely motivated-- working out and eating so much better but I don't think she is losing any weight (yet). I sure hope she sees some results before she gets frustrated and gives up.

Thanks Allison - I just ordered a copy of the book.
Geez we get fleeced here in Canada, it was almost 2x the price.
Oh well it will be worth it.

Did a 10k run after work - it was slow and arduous, but I did it!

There are several thousand reasons why we pay so much more for books in Canada. The term "free trade" is quite a silly misnaming. I took some book pulishing courses about a million years ago and it's pretty complex with some really weird provisions for trade with the U.S. and protectionism of our own publishing industry.

And I myself keep forgetting that the prices I'm looking at on Amazon are USD.

Dagmar - I went to Amazon.ca. Shipping from the US site is atrocious.
Living in Canada is just expensive - period.
Wouldn't trade it for anything though - were else can you run by the ocean after work one day and climb a mountain (which I am doing tomorrow after work) the next.

Good morning everyone!

I am still really tired this morning. I had a bad sleep night - woke up every thirty minutes or so, the longest uninterrupted sleep was from a little after two to just after four. Hard to get up this morning...

DSS has a cavity that needs filling - had his first cleaning last month and they found it. His mom took him to her dentist, a family dentist who doesn't do young children often, and the filling scheduled for Tuesday crashed and burned. The dentist tried a couple of times to get in there with the shot to numb his gums and then just gave up, referred them to a pediatric dentist. DH has him there now for a consultation. So how do you get a four year old to sit still for a filling? I know the drilling makes me feel wiggly, and I'm old enough to know what is going on.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Lily~send some motivation to my DD, please! She said she wanted to do the treadmill each day while she's home. She's been home since Friday and hasn't laid a finger (or foot) on it. At least she's eating okay. My diet dinners help a lot and she's agreed to some of the diet frozen entrees for lunch. As long as I can keep her away from the chips and salsa (and too many burgers out with friends) I think she'll lose some weight. She does take a tennis class starting in a couple of weeks--perhaps that will spur her onto working out more.

Sznn~sorry the book cost more for you, but it is worth it (IMO). I actually picked mine up at Costco and probably only paid $12 for it. Tonight we'll have salsa meatloaves with roasted green beans.

LOL Bargoo, I was going to say the same thing! And in Oregon and Washington. And Japan, and other mountainous islands. I would still love to go to Canada someday though!

carol, I think it was a combination of things. She got a new boyfriend, she saw the number 200 lbs. very close in her future and the other girls she works with were all gonna lose weight together. This time she is doing excellent. Heck, she's even helping keep me and Shelbey on track! Shelbey is trying to lose 30 lbs. so she can meet the Navy's weight requirement. Some of my own motivation was that my 3 year anniversary since losing the weight was coming up on July 5th. (that and the fact that some of my summer clothes were a bit tight).

Allison, I wish I knew how to send motivation to your DD. With my DD, it had to come from within. She just had to be ready! When she did decide to lose the weight, all I could do was be supportive by being willing to keep all healthy food at home for the whole family to eat and be willing to go for long walks with her. We've also been going bowling often at Lacy's request. Just seeing her wanting to be more active feels great to me.

We are taking a family vacation to Pensacola Florida next month. It should be lots of fun and hopefully we'll all have lost a little weight and look better in a swimsuit.

My sad news is that my daughters have lost another classmate. A 16 year old boy that died in a car wreck last night. He pulled out onto the interstate without looking after having a fight with his girlfriend. His truck was hit on the passenger side and flipped into an embankment. His funeral will be this Saturday at the high school. So tragic!

Obviously I'm living in the wrong part of Canada. But Toronto is about the only place I can make real money at commercial dogwalking. B.C. is too rainy!

Dagmar - but it is nice and mild here - just have to wear a lot of gortex.
(+ There are tons of pooches if you ever decide to move west.)

It has been beautiful and sunny all week and is going to last for the w/e.
I think I will go skating in the forest today instead of climbing the mountain.

Allison - I should have asked you sooner where you bought the book. Lo and behold there is was at costco for $6 less (cost of shipping) sigh.
Oh well, cest la vie, looks like a fantastic book and I am looking forward to trying some recipes.

Have a great Friday everyone.

Hello,

Just wanted to say thanks for all the kind thoughts. Khaile's funeral is tomorrow, with visitation tonight. It's difficult with divorced parents, although they are amicable, but the Mom has a big, noisy family and we don't. I had to google visitation to see what that's all about. Not really sure how it's going to go--kind of nervous about it.

I'd been having trouble losing weight, but have lost 4 lbs. in less than a week. I don't recommend this kind of diet, though. My big, goofy youngest son came a couple of days ago, and his presence has helped his brother so much. We spend the evenings laughing at stupid stories of when they were growing up and playing Wii video games. It's good to hear my older son laugh. He and his ex dressed their daughter yesterday afternoon and that really seemed to make him feel better. He still hasn't been able to stay at his house, though.

Hoping everyone has a good weekend.

Just popping in to say hi. More busy-ness at work, and it's getting pretty hot at this point. I'm wearing lots of sunblock, hats etc! My sister, brother-in-law, and his mom are coming Saturday for 2 nights. They are driving my BIL's brother's car from Florida to Texas, b/c his brother is returning June 4 from deployment in Iraq and will be stationed in TX. We are all breathing a big sigh of relief that he's coming home safe. I had a mini-meltdown about getting ready for the visit last night so I skipped the gym and furiously tried to clean my house (the 30-minute high intensity shower scrubbing workout - haven't you see it on FitTV?) Tonight will be more cleaning, but feel more confident that it can be done before they arrive. Since I've been so busy on the weekends my household chores have fallen by the wayside.

Lily, glad to hear that weight management is going well on all fronts in your house! Too bad Pensacola is several hours from me, otherwise we could meet IRL on your vacation next month. Florida is heating up but the water is still a very nice temperature.

Sheila, at my grandmother's visitation, some people came who wanted to pay their respects but wouldn't be coming to the funeral. e.g. My aunt lived with my grandparents to help care for them in their later years. Her coworkers came to pay their respects as her friend but they hadn't really met my grandparents. Some of the neighbors came, who again weren't close to my grandparents, wanted to pay respects, but didn't attend the funeral. At other funerals I've been to lots of people came to both the visitation and the funeral. Also if there is an open casket you can actually physically "visit" with the person, walk up to them, hold their hand or kiss them, where there is not much opportunity to do this during a funeral service. I'm glad that having your family together is helping you. My thoughts are with you.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
