It's that time of year again! Robin pulled up last year's thread, which reminds me that it's time to start thinking about 2009.
Even if you're not a resolutioner, what would you like to achieve or avoid in 2009? What needs work, what's working great, what would you really like to change? When it's December 31, 2009, where would you like to be as you reflect on the past year?
My goals for 2009:
1) Get back to goal weight and stay there.
2) Complete the sprint triathlon I signed up for.
3) Get my thyroid levels stabilized.
4) Work out at least three days a week, EVERY week.
My dreams for 2009:
1) Run a mile in 10 minutes.
2) Get strong enough to do a full push-up.
Those "dreams" have been my dreams for years now, but health issues have kept getting in the way. I'm confident now that my thyroid is being treated that they can become a reality though!
-To maintain my 50 pounds lost for ANOTHER year !
-To become Ms. Gainesville 2009 (For those who don't know, it's an open bodybuilding contest)
-To REALLY develop and advertise my personal training business (right now, I have a few clients and do it as a part time thing, but I'd like to make it more than that), especially now that I will have my own place which I can turn into a pseudo gym
-To be healthier than I was in 2008 and get my blood sugars back under control - all the stress and unnecessary things I've taken on, along with all the B.S. from other people that I've internalized, has caused some internal chaos and wreaked a little bit of havoc on my health.
-Aaaand... to live life to its fullest, make the best decisions for myself, follow my heart, and live with courage and conviction every day.
Dreams (these are less achievable than goals, but it's ok to dream, right?):
-To be able to peacefully QUIT my dayjob at the end of 2009 because my fitness career has taken off enough to do so (and trust me, I won't quit my day job unless I am making twice as much doing personal training and other fitness-related things as I am per week at the regular job)
-To start pursuing fitness modeling
-To win MORE than one local bodybuilding contest
-Aaaaaand maaaaaybe to start a band again... one that actually gets further than my porch
-AND AND AND... while this is not under MY control, I sure HOPE the economy improves in 2009. I am not directly effected by it, but I know most people are.
Oh oh, and I am not sure if this is a dream or a goal, but I am planning to stay single all year long

Oh, I checked the 2008 thread to see what my goals were. They were only to be more successful (I was sort of broke at the beginning of 2008!) and to keep my weight off. It's safe to say I have accomplished both - I am more successful than I have ever been and I am still 50 pounds lighter.
YAY! My first post in the maintaining section! Woo! Fitting, as this is where I'll fit in in 2009.
I'm a realist - so goals only for me -
~ To reach my goal weight (only 6 pounds to go!).
~ To maintain my loss.
~ To continue strength training hardcore and train for a figure contest with my trainer.
~ Do a 100 mile bike ride.
~ To learn to save money, not be so impulsive with it.
~ Time management - learn about it. Work less hours. WAAAAY less hours!
~ Make an honest attempt at being tidy - home, car, office.
I have a lot of goals and dreams for the next year.
1. Career change - which I am making working on now.
2. Do a sprint distance triathlon - something I never, ever thought I could do (let alone want to do).
3. Sell my investment property.
4. To weigh no more than 140 at any given time during the year. That's my redline.
5. To get my hubby to lose weight and get more fit by leading by example. It's sort of working, but hope he really catches the 'spark'.
6. Continue learning Spanish.
7. Do serious volunteer work, like teaching adults to read or with the Red Cross (other than donating blood )

Height: 5 ft 8.5" athlete who can give a punch & certainly take one too! :)
2009 Hopes...
*I hope my successful business continues to flourish, despite the economy heading down the crapper!
*I hope to continue to maintain my weightloss throughout the year!
*I hope to continue living life to the fullest, by working hard as a successful entreprenuer, so I can continue to play equally hard on my 8 weeks vacation yearly!
My goals for 2009 are similar to many posters' lists.
goal:
1. maintain weight loss.
2. practice better control so maintenance is not a roller coaster, spinning out of wack and reigned back in.
3. move forward in career advancement, more local to my family.
4. practice better control in paperwork maintenance and organizing systems.
5. run 1000 miles in 2009! (including at least a half marathon)
6. successfully add regular weight training (2x/week min) to fitness plan
dream:
make the 100 billion lottery!!

Reason: grammar/spelling
I don't know why I never do these...maybe many years of failed plans before now? I don't have any 2008 goals to look back on, so I'll just make some new ones.
Continue maintaining weight.
Work toward improving body composition/bf% further
Work toward being more active in my daily life and looking for opportunities to move.
Keep cholesterol and glucose levels ideal, despite the PCOS and the drama
Continue keeping my stress levels low and my anxiety under control.
Well, my long-time buds out there know I almost always put flossing on my list. I now appear to be a flosser thanks to, oddly, Beck Diet Solution, so this year I'm going to work on not hunching over, and to quit sighing like I'm oppressed all the time.
Sit up straight most of the time
Stop sighing
Get to 180 pounds by June 6 (DS's first birthday)
Get to 160 pounds by year's end (new low for me)
Run a half marathon
Do an "active" activity with DD at least once a week
Spend about 10 minutes per day breathing deeply
Stretch 4 days a week
Prioritize more instead of trying to do it all and running myself into the ground
Continue exploring alternative food sources and getting more local foods, and in Spring, finally FINALLY finally plant my organic veggie garden so I can harvest my own healthy stuff next year.
My goals and hopes are very similar to what's been mentioned already.
1. First and foremost - to maintain my weight loss.
2. I'd like to get back down and STAY in the low 120's, instead of the high 120's. I feel and look much better on the lower end and I am not satisfied constantly getting down there and then leaving there so shortly after getting there once again. And again. And again.
3. Learn how to entertain without overeating.
4. To learn how to successfully add in a single, solitary LONE treat. This is a BIGGIE for me. I believe conquering this one will help me greatly with #2. And with #3. And hello, #1 as well. So yes, this one is HUGE for me. HUGE. Must work on this. Must work on this. MUST work on this.
5. Cut down on my use of Splenda
6. Remain at or increase my fitness level.
7. Money. Save some big money. Spend more wisely. Cut down on my shopping. Make some big money to save (increase my business). I will most likely be making a couple of weddings in 2010. So yes, saving/making money is a big priority for 09'.
8. When the summer rolls around, to cut back on my newly discovered (since I lost the weight) love of sun-tanning.
9. Be more organized, with my work, paper work & the bills, and with the house.
10. Time to forgive. Or at least move on. Really, really work on improving my relationship with my immediate family - my dad, my sister - and my mom.
11. Write more. Maybe do something with it - eventually?
12. Read more.
13. Learn more.

Reason: added a couple more things
~ Make an honest attempt at being tidy - home, car, office.
Hey welcome!!!
I made this same resolution about 5 years ago and I started doing 2 things that really made a difference. I made a pact with myself to always fold the clean laundry that day (never go to bed with clean laundry in the basket) and to always do the dishes before I go to bed.
Just those 2 little things made a HUGE difference in the state of my house! No more pulling cold, wrinkled clothes out of the laundry basket on Wednesday or fighting to find 2 socks that match. No more facing a full sink of dishes and just giving up and putting the new dirty dishes on the counter. I love a clean kitchen and I love waking up and walking into the kitchen when it's all sparkly every morning.
Good luck!
(I have broken the dishes one very very rarely, but I have never gone to bed with clean laundry in the basket!)
