Paperclippy...beet bread? Details please!

I am having a weird issue currently...running out of time and skipping snacks. What the result has been, lately, is me skipping during the day, and then saying "Well, I have the extra calories" and having a second ice cream bar or a glass of wine at night. Which, while fine on calories, isn't really the best nutrition-wise. I'm going to try to put a stop to it but without my schedule lightening up a bit, I'm not sure how that'll work...

I'm just not used to this crazy running around and not having time to eat business! Usually I at least have time for snacks...

Rockinrobin- You hit it on the head for me!! BLTs are my demon recently too! Just a few minutes ago, at the costco store, I was thinking about how a few weeks (ok almost months at this point) I had no trouble keeping my hands to myself and not nibbling on baby's bagel, muffin or costco snacks. And now, I find myself taking some regularly. Well, today I at least threw the food out mid-bite. But I've been aware that altho something's changed, I have loosened up a bit... it needs to change back!!

I think I started rationizing BLTs when I was doing some major running mileage. Now, it's a struggle to squeeze any miles in. Oh-- self--no more BLTs. And here's a toast (figurative, of course) to this thread!!

Am I weird that I think BLT's are okay (at least in my book?) I never use anything but fat free mayo (and only 1 T at that as I don't like mayo that much). Lettuce and tomato are good...bacon, I use really thin sliced stuff and limit myself to 2-3 strips and I use 90 calorie whole wheat bread. I figure each sandwich is around 300 calories. I have one at dinner when we have them. That doesn't seem so bad to me?

B~quesadilla on ww tortilla
S~2 clementines
L~Lean Cuisine
S~Activia yogurt
D~bunless burger, baked beans salad
gym~45 minutes

I believe BLTs= bites, licks, & tastes....I like how your BLT sandwich sounds, Allison!

Darlin', let me clear this up for ya. My mistake, for sure. I should have been clearer. Meg used the phrase quite some time ago and I picked up on it. It's not bacon, lettuce & tomato sandwiches that are doing me in. It's Bites, Licks & Tastes that have been getting the better of me.

And kittycat, I actually allot some calories for the little demons, but just lately, I don't like the "feeling" of it and some of those BLT's aren't ones I should be B'ing, L'ing, T'ing. I've had to rearrange my menu to compensate for OVERdoing them.

I also wondered about the beet bread, Jessica! Details please.

Amanda, maybe instead of that second serving of ice cream etc., if you're still hungry at night, you could instead eat whatever you would have had as a snack that you missed earlier that day? Or if you know you'll be busy add a few extra calories to your meals? "Extras" on dessert or wine would be setting off alarm bells in my head, but judging from your menus you're infinitely better at moderation than me (e.g. more than a single serving of ice cream just cannot come into my house).

It's been BLT's (stress BLT's?) doing me in this week too. Of course, lately I just seem to have a new/different problem each week.

Last night I made "Pasta rollups with turkey and spinach" from Clean Eating's summer magazine. They were really tasty, and BF loved them too. I had a few BLTs, particularly some crackers, and was at 2000 cals for the day. sigh.

Today:
B - 1 slice whole wheat bread w/ 1 1/2 T. pb, 1 c. sk milk, coffee
S - sm banana
L - ww tortilla, bs chicken breast, black beans, salsa, peach
S - 6 oz. light yogurt, 1 c. carrots & 1 c. celery w/ 1/4 c. garlicky spinach & ricotta dip, 1 oz. raw almonds
gym - cardio, legs heavy
D - leftovers - pasta rollups w/ turkey & spinach, salad, lt. dressing
Packing and lifting boxes does not justify late night snacks b/c I "deserve" them. Repeat.

Argh I just wrote a reply and then stupidly refreshed *bangs head on desk*

Day 3 of being POP; pretty much the same food as the past couple of days I tend to eat a lot of the same stuff as it suits me that way. Gym was this morning - managed to increase my weights a bit (only lifting light at around 20-25kg but slow and steady will get me there) and upped the level of my treadmill intervals

What are black beans - are they like kidney beans? I like reading this thread for all the recipes problem being I either read it late at night when I've already eaten or at lunch and forget to take note of things!

Glad someone cleared up the BLT thing... I was also sat there confused by all the talk of sandwiches!

21:33hrs here which isn't so late but I'm tired and have the gym early again tomorrow so hot drink and bed is calling!

Also just ordered New Rules of Lifting for Women from amazon seeing as you all give it such positive responses

Ok, that's too funny!!! BLT's! I never even thought that! Anyway, as long as the cheese isn't too close while I'm cooking, I'm pretty good about any BLT's!!! (Just keep me away from the nut jar in the pantry, though!)

Speaking of BLTs (I guess I was just craving a sandwich??), I did really good at Trader Joe's yesterday. Lately, I've ALWAYS been tasting whatever the daily free sample is. If it's REALLY good, I get two tastes! Sometimes, the tasting is useful (I've found some great new products that way), but I've really been taking advantage of it. Yesterday - no taste! I didn't even go see what it was!

I only skipped one snack today, and if I am hungry to add a snack after dinner, I'm going to eat what THAT was (cantaloupe), not another ice cream, darn it!

Well, they're a little bit smaller then a kidney bean and very black (hence the name) and not quite as meaty as a kidney. It's a very mild bean. I find people that are not really bean lovers, enjoy them. They go very well in salads, salsas and yup, in chili.

Good morning everyone.

Wednesday was POP for me. And I was rewarded this morning by my putting on a pair of pants I haven't worn in a bit (too afraid to even try them on) - and they are fitting mighty perfectly!!!! I am strutting around this morning feeling fabulous. And once again I am reminded that nothing, absolutely NOTHING tastes quite as good as being thin feels.

Let's make it a great, on plan day folks.

I love black beans!

Clearly I need to be on this thread. What happens when I am not? Chinese food. I was so dehydrated last night between Chinese food and a cold that I woke up twice and had to go get water. I did not get on the scale this morning. It would be depressing and inaccurate.

I did, however, complete a killer arm weight-lifting session last night. And my trainer asked me to be in before/after pix on her website. So that was very flattering. And then I indulge in Chinese food. Alas.

Today:
1/2 bagel, protein shake
cottage cheese, blueberries
tuna salad sandwich, pluot
hard-boiled eggs, more fruit
tilapia, veggies
protein shake

Exercise: if I can breathe tonight I will run sprint intervals.

Hmmm I may have to give black beans a go!

Day Four of being POP... hurrah getting back into the swing of things! B weetabix and yoghurt, L chicken and yoghurt, D will be egg white omlette, mushrooms and a salad.

Tired today... staying up until midnight talking to the boy on the phone before he gets deployed... totally worth it in one sense but at 5.30am this morning? SO TIRED

I agree. As a kid I wouldn't go near a bean but will eat them occasionally now, at least in things (e.g. in chili). Black beans are the only ones I will eat alone. And they're soooo good for you!

midwife, what a great complement from your trainer! Eh, we all eat Chinese once in a while.

Glory, wtg staying away from that taste test!

Lol, I'm still laughing at the thought of everyone being confused about why we talk about BLT sandwiches so much. I can just imagine the thoughts going through my head if I didn't know what BLT stood for here: "Why do all these people want BLTs? When I want something 'bad', I want chocolate!"

Yesterday was, well, mostly good, again. A few squares of dark chocolate left over and a high fiber pita with hummus were my "hey I just packed a bunch of boxes and my RMs are annoying me so I deserve this" snack last night. I think I'm just going to try to maintain, not gain!, for the rest of this move through the weekend. I did get to the gym yesterday and got in a good workout. And my gym is staying open, someone bought it, hoorah!

Today's plan:
B - 1 slice whole wheat bread w/ 2 T. pb, 1 c. sk milk, coffee
S - sm banana
L - ww tortilla, bs chicken breast, black beans, salsa, 1 c. carrots & 1 c. celery
S - 6 oz. light yogurt, 1 oz. raw almonds, fruit if I can get to the store
gym - cardio, shoulders
D - leftovers - pasta rollups w/ turkey & spinach, salad, lt. dressing
More packing. Less "packing snacks?"
