Meg, you are my hero! Recover well, do what they say, and don't try to tough out the pain. There is a reason we have pain meds! You'll be better in no time, you'll see...
Best wishes Meg!!! Absolutely use the little pain medicine button while you can. You'll be using those brand new knees in no time! (DH had knee replacement surgery a week and a half ago - and I suspect you'll be out and around before he is!!)
Meg, I've been thinking about you all day and wondering when exactly you were scheduled for surgery. Decide to come to the Maintainers forum to check and I guess I was thinking about you for good reason. I was talking to my sister about knees (I've finally scheduled an appoint to go talk to my Dr. again about mine, my last visit was 2005) and she said her father-in-law is so very glad he had his done.
Wishing you the very best, take care and best of luck on a speedy recovery.
I just talked to Meg. She's in good spirits, but drugged to the gills. Both knees were worse than they initially thought, and she now has no ACLs or PCLs. Right now, her nerves aren't firing her quads (not uncommon) and she's doing limited physiotherapy and passive therapy to get it all connected again.
She says the food is terrible- more dessert choices than entrees
Meg I know the next few days are not going to be easy for you but thankfully you are now on the "recovery side" of this experience. I'm so sorry to know that your knees were in worse shape than your physicians realized. I think that you already knew how bad it was pre-op though.
Might be a good time for you to write your book. Uhm, maybe after you are off your pain meds, well, maybe during could be amusing too.
Take gentle care of yourself and give yourself all the time that is needed to heal
