Very seldom, as sweets don't tempt me nearly as much as salty or savory foods. I will often have a cup of hot tea and one cinnamon graham cracker for a treat in the evening. My DH on the other hand has a serious sweet habit - and he's super skinny - so there's often ice cream, cookies, etc. in the house. Good thing I don't care much for them.
Since I had a switch in medicine a year and a half ago, sweets haven't tasted good to me. But, now that it's near summer, we've been having chocolate coated frozen bananas. The total chocolate on them is less then a 1/4 of a bar, so they make a great treat.
Yes, I am a dessert fiend. Usually I do one of two things. Either I only eat dessert Saturday night when we are out to dinner at our "cheat" meal (and I split it with my fiance), or I buy low-cal single-serving desserts to eat at home during the week, usually pudding cups or Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches or something like that, sometimes fresh berries with Cool Whip Lite. More often I just wait for Saturday night.
However, I have to admit that I ate way too much dessert this weekend. Saturday I went to a bridal shower and had a tiny piece of each of the desserts - key lime pie, a chocolate torte, and a berry tart, plus a whole pile of chocolate-covered mints. Then Sunday I made a banana bread (a healthy one, whole wheat flour and nonfat yogurt instead of oil, but still), ate a couple slices of it, then went to a party where I got convinced that I absolutely had to have ice cream, and on the way home we bought a Ben & Jerry's small tub of ice cream at the supermarket (I had one serving).
Also I don't know if you count it but sometimes I have sugar-free hot chocolate at work. Plus I get my sweet craving somewhat taken care of with chocolate-flavored Viactiv multi-vitamin chews.
This is going to sound strange, maybe...
But one of my very favorite things for dessert is a small portion of hot cereal (multigrain, oat bran etc.) w/sweetener, cinnamon, a little salt and about 1/2 T of almond butter mixed in topped with about 1/4 cup of light vanilla ice cream and more cinnamon on top. It's SO GOOD! It's nutritious and only about 170 calories the way I do it. I eat this combo almost every day! I also love a piece of light bread, with a square of excellent dark chocolate and a small amount of pb in the toaster and spread all around. Again, also nutritious and yummy!
Light cream cheese and strawberry jam mini sandwich also makes a good dessert. I like to think "outside the box"
I think it's better for the health anyway than those "100 calorie packs"...
My desserts now are pretty healthy as well. I usually get a sugar free angel food cake from wal-mart and put ff cool whip on it{only 60 cals per serving} I also like fudge bars{only 80 cals}. Sorbets are really good as well. I had some Ben and Jerry's mango sorbet over the weekend, very good!! Only 100 cals for 1/2 cup. I think a dessert would be okay as long as it fits in with your calorie plan. I don't see a problem with something really naughty every once in a while.
First and foremost I get plenty of fruit in my diet. So therefore, my sweet cravings don't seem to be much of a problem. Well at least 3 weeks out of the month! But I do eat a small piece of dark chocolate daily. And occasionally a good naturally made cookie or a few bites of a desert or a 1/4 cup of ice cream. Those things I usually limit to 1 - 2 times a month. I never eat large portions of empty calories. It goes against my grain now.
I usually munch on carrots or an orange after dinner. I bought some small cans of pineapple to freeze and eat with a spoon, but I was waiting for a warm day to savor them, and now that it's warm out, I have a cold and don't feel like eating a frozen treat!
I'm completely addicted to pineapple at the moment. They're selling them for $1 each at my grocery store these days. Bargain! And sooooo sweet and delicious. I've been having a slice for 'dessert' after lunch, or as a mid-afternoon snack. They're so sweet and lovely that they curb my sweet tooth admirably (at least during the day). And only 54 calories for 4oz.

Pineapple rules!!! sadly its v. expensive over here. I'm a blueberry kick at the moment - only 39 cals for 50 sweet yummy berries! lol I sound like I work for a blueberry company..
We like frozen blueberries and will have a cup as a treat.
Also, we'll sometimes split a Dagoba chocolate bar with a very high % of cocoa and very little sugar. We like the kind with the nibs and chile peppers in them! Only about 110 calories for half a bar (if you pick the right one. They vary quite a bit). That's just for a special treat maybe when we're travelling. They're a bit pricey. But we only have one maybe twice a month.
