I just read this thread about
A funny confession I made at work, and it reminded me of something that happened to me the other day.
It was the day after Halloween, and a coworker emailed me to ask if he could take me out to lunch. This coworker is a trim male who I used to work more closely with a few months back, and our usual choice of restaurants at the time were the all-you-can-eat pizza buffet, or the all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet. I cheerily accepted his offer to buy me a farewell lunch, but then said I couldn't do one of the usual buffets.
"Why?"
"Because I ate too much Halloween candy yesterday."
"Well, I did, too ...?"
"Yeah, but you aren't trying to lose over a hundred pounds!"
Oops! It doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but I carry my weight very well and it looks like I'm only about 50 pounds overweight. I usually don't have a problem telling people I'm overweight and trying to do something about it, but I never *never* throw a number out there. I don't tell people what I weigh, and I don't tell people how much I'm trying to lose. It was a big stretch for me to even post my weight on 3FC, or to have to weigh in at TOPS with anyone other than my own doctor.
I suppose, a little humility is necessary in this situation.
And have I mentioned how much I love 3FC, and how wonderfully effective it is to have you people here? I believe this is a very effective weight-loss tool.
Thanks to everybody!
