Morning Chatty Girls....

:coffee:

Welcome  to Aim and Pink.....you'll love this board, these women are so much fun and we love to post and :gossip: that's chat NOT gossip....
Pink, don't worry, you won't be the biggest person at LA and pretty soon you will be among the smallest....Think positive - like what a good thing your doing for yourself and your baby.....
Aim, you need to share all your secrets with me, you are doing awesome :cp:
Kristi, Well gf, I think you hit the nail on the head and we should start the first chapter of "scaleaholics" right here. You and June will run for president and the rest of us will follow :goodscale My good friend (and I won't mention names here ;) ) was considering carrying her scale to her LA Center becuz they don't have a digital scale......June what did you call that?obsessive compulsive :?: It's funny I use to never weigh, unless I went to the doctor. Well that got me in trouble, becuz I couldn't actually see how much I was gaining in the mirror. Now, I love my scale and find it much easier to control my eating if I know what I weigh. Okay so when's our first meeting?
Sy, an Avatar is that Chick with the pounds lost next to my post. To get your own avatar chick, which you have earned ;) go to User CP click there and then go to Edit Profile and I think it is there that you can pick the correct avatar.
Karen, Glad your back and that you had such a great weekend at the races. I know you are really in mourning becuz of Rusty Wallaces announcement of his retirement :sorry: If you need grief support, know we are here for you....
About your gain, well we know that is the only downfall of the "Rainbow" plan..it will come off quickly :tread: Get on that ultratrack.....
Fiona, my sons love Mountain Dew. The dentist told them that is the worst thing they could ever drink....you must be addicted huh :?: I think Mountain Dew drinkers are in some kind of trace induced state and there's no stopping you
Hey Sammy and everyone else out there.........

vibrantecho 08-31-2004 09:28 AM

Star: LOL!!!!! about the Mt. Dew. Yeah, I won't even go into the lecture I got from my hygenist at my last cleaning...!

kay, that was dumb I hit Reply instead of Go Advanced...anyway, continuing...!

Good morning, BTW everyone! I did not go to the center last night but I did go buy a new scale! :hyper: I want nothing to do with your Scaleaholics meetings, I love my scale, I neeeeed my scale! I'm not yet to the point where I can see weight loss in the way my clothes fit, so the scale helps me stay on track (someone else said that...?) And my new scale is so cool! Someone must have decided that only people who are trying to lose weight buy scales anymore, cause all of the digital models at Target had this feature where it will save your weight and then calculate your gain/loss the next time you step on. I'm going to try and control myself and only save once a day.....

Anyway I am going to go weigh in today - my scale this morning said 209.2 and on my OLD scale there was usually about a two pound discrepancy, so I won't be surprised if there's no change from Saturday.

Gotta go do work now...I'll probly check back in after I weigh.

Fiona

Good Morning Everyone,

Okay, I'm a scalaholic, I admit it!!! I weighed in again today because I saw another dip in my scale and wanted to see if it was real and it was :)) I'm down .8 since yesterday!!! So, that brings me to 3 pounds lost since last Thursday!!! So, I now have 2.4 pounds before getting to the 20 pound (halfway point)!!! I think I'm going to cash in on my 15 pound goal treat on Thursday and get tha pedicure!!!! I'd love to hit that next minigoal by the start of classes on September 9th, but I think that may be over ambitious.

SY: If you feel lighter you are lighter - that's how I felt when I did the Take-Off you're doing. I knew it was working and didn't really need the scale to tell me that!! I'm so happy for you. I know you are going to see good results at your next weekend. Technically you don't get any free foods on that Take-Off, but since you worked out, I think it was a good choice on your part and the free foods aren't going to make a hill of beans of difference.

Karen: Welcome back!!! I agree, don't beat yourself up about the gain. It's all water. Chinese food has so much salt and MSG, it can't be helped. But the good thing is that it will come off right away. (Ever wonder why those people in China are all thin???)

Star: As usual your post gave me a chuckle this morning. Your lightheartened nature is making this "adventure in weight loss" a "real trip!!!" I look forward to your posts each day.

Fiona: Sounds like you got a great scale there!!!! We may need to detox you from it when you get to goal!!! Good luck with your weigh-in. Let us know how it goes.

Kristi, beachlover, Sammy, Aim, and Pink: How are things going today for you? We had some sever rain here earlier in the morning, but it is supposed to clear later. I see another storm is inching its way to the East Coast :(((

Has anyone heard from Diane or Meltin?

Gosh, I hope I didn't leave anyone out. It's wonderful to see so many people on this board!!!

Have a great morning everyone.

Hugs,
June

June,

Thanks for the correction as to calling this an "Adventure in Weight loss." I have been referring to it as my "Trip of Torture"......tee-hee

vibrantecho 08-31-2004 01:38 PM

kristi: The scale is a "Health O Meter (seriously) Weight Monitoring Scale." The also have a slightly fancier version that will also analyze your body fat percentage, to which I said, "eh."

As for my weigh in, I was right - no change from Saturday. I realized this morning that I haven't done my diary since my weigh in on Saturday, which probably didn't help matters...I was making my best guesses about which foods I ate which days. I definitely have to get back on track with eating ALL my servings - seems I have better losses then than if I skip things - even with all the cheating, lol!

Have a GREAT, POP afternoon!

Fiona

Kristi - yeah they are kinda straight laced about their "no shirt-no pants-no weigh" policy at LA........ Your scale is so close to LA's, I personally would not waste the money on a new one.......
Fiona - Congrats on hanging in there - meaning no gain! You bought the same scale I have, I've only had mine like a month or so, but I absolutely love & hate it at the same time.......lol Oh, and Karen has the same one.

aimtastic 08-31-2004 02:35 PM

Good afternoon everyone, and thanks for the welcome!

Busy day today - I sell stuff on ebay for a living and they'er having a listing sale today, so I want to take advantage and get a bunch of stuff up cheap. BTW, I did a search for "LA Weight Loss" on ebay the other day and found that you can find the Lites bars, supplements, and some of the snacks on there a lot cheaper than at the centers. I think I may try to get some of the biscotti on there.

Anyway, I was planing on locking myself in the house all day to get this work done, including skipping the gym (Bad Amy!), but I just got a call from my BF's roommate who needs a ride to work in about an hour, so since I'm heading out anyway, I'm gonna go to the gym after I drop him off.

I joined the gym the same day I joined LAWL and I think that's definitely helping take the weight off faster. I do 40 minutes of cardio on the elliptical machine four days a week, and 50 minutes of weight training with a personal trainer three days a week. I never thought I'd say this, but I love going to the gym - I feel great after a workout and it doesn't hurt that my personal trainer is mighty easy on the eyes!

Definitely another scaleaholic here! That's part of the reason I chose LA with three weigh-ins a week, instead of WW with one a week. I know that if I had meetings on a Wednesday, I'd decide to slack off on Thurs, Fri and Sat, thinking I could make up for it on Sun, Mon and Tues. Weighing in every other day has definitely helped keep me on track. My home scale has been so erratic in comparison to LA's. Some days I weigh three pounds less at home than I do there, and some days it's only a half a pound less. I have yet to have that glorious day that I weigh less at LA than I do at home. But I have learned that first thing I should do after I sign in at the center and before I get on the scale each time is make a bee line for the bathroom - I swear I took a three pound pee the other day!

vibrantecho 08-31-2004 02:52 PM

Star - lol - guess I picked a good one, then! :)

Aim - I've often thought about getting into the whole ebay thing on a higher level...I'd love to learn more about how you got started and how you do it now. PM me, please? :)

aimtastic 08-31-2004 03:06 PM

Fiona - PM on the way! :)

june620 08-31-2004 03:57 PM

Hi Everyone,

Kristi: Thanks for the congrats - but"you" are my hero! Look how close to goal you are!!! I can't wait to get there!!!! You're gonna make it any day now!!!

Star: Glad you like my referring to this journey as an "Adventure in Weight Loss" - it certainly is a learning experience!!! Not a day has passed since joining LAWL that I haven't learned something.

Fiona: I'm with Kristi - you did just fine maintaining - I know you want to see a drop every time you weigh in - (I'm that way too) - but no gain is definitely a good thing too! I think once you start journaling and not skipping any foods you're going to see really good losses. I know for myself that if I don't write it down immediately I tend to forget, and that goees not only for journaling but for everything else. I have a "fuzz brain!!!" Sometimes I feel like it's really foggy up there - especially when it's warm out. It's also very important to get all your servings in - I think it helps to maintain a good metabolic rate.

Aim: Sounds like you get a good amount of excercise. That's wonderful!!! The most exciting part of that is all the inch loss you will see. They'll take your measurements once a month at LAWL (I lost 10 1/4 inches the first month). It's a wonderful feeling.

Well, I have to run some errands. Will look for more posts later. I really am addicted to this board - I'm so glad I found it because I know I wouldn't be able to do this on my own!!!

Hugs,
June

Afternoon all!

June-way to go on your loss! It must feel soooo good!
Kristi-That is a plus that you had to go back for a smaller size! Rock on!!! Good luck on the juice it is probably exactly what you need to throw you right into your goal! I drove by our Krispy Kreme yesterday and I could smell them cooking and well I think I was drooling in the mirror!

Karen-I can only imagine how that chinese food must have tasted!!! In fact the other night my husband said I guess no more lunches at Jade's for a while huh???

I purchased a scale yesterday and was so disapointed I gained three pounds in one afternoon.... I am quite sure I have bought a bad one so I am going to take it back and get the one that has been mentioned on the posts..

I go weighin at the center tomorrow so I am anxious to see that I am going the right way instead of the wrong way!

Well I am crazy with homework and trying to watch my sisters 2 year old along with my 4 yr.old so I better get!

Good losses to all! I know I am missing someone and I am sorry but I know you are all doing well! Good job Fiona of staying constant! Not as fun as loosing but much better than the alternative!
Sammy

vibrantecho 08-31-2004 04:08 PM

Sammy - never, never never weigh yourself twice in one day - LOL! And never after lunch, either. ;) Down that road leads depression and cheating! I weighed myself on the new scale last night to get it set up, then had "magically" lost four pounds by the next morning! :goodscale: I wish....:^:

Oh, funny thing, I'm REALLY glad after all that I didn't win that elliptical on e-bay! I went to Sears last night to try out their floor model of the one I was bidding on, and it was pretty crappy (not AWFUL, but not nearly as nice as I expected. Apparently the Nordic Track brand was bought out and their machines are way poor quality now). I've now fallen in love with a much nicer model thanks to the guy at 2nd Wind Exercise - now it's all about saving up my pennies - lots and lots of pennies! :D

June - Unfortunately, I don't have starting measurements to go by because the spacey girl who signed me up forgot to take them. One of the other counselors just noticed yesterday that I hadn't had any taken, so I have no idea how many inches I may have lost in the first three weeks.

Kristi - No dorkiness - I always plan what I'll eat for the day every morning and then cross stuff off as I eat it. At the end of the day I transfer that list into my diary. I find its a lot easier that way, knowing what you've got coming up, to avoid being tempted by something that pops up.

beachlover 08-31-2004 08:12 PM

Kristi re: Sara lee diet bread - it is just like regular bread. My daughter couldn't tell the difference. I'm getting a chuckle out of all the "scales" talk. I used to be obsessed too. But I literally threw out my scales when I started LAWL. Believe me, I can tell the difference without a scale! Hello to Pink and Aim. I have been reading the posts to get up to speed. If I don't mention names it is not because I'm ignoring you. I'm just trying to get everyone straight. There are a lot of new people here but I wonder about some of the older ones. Where are you ladies?
Beachlover
P.S. It was a great day here weather-wise. Probably for Sy and Diane too. Where are you Diane?
