Hi Joy! And welcome (back)! I'm new to the board and LAWL - well relatively - two weeks and counting, although I seem to be sliding right into the routine of it all. :) I look forward to sharing your journey with you - I don't know if anyone on here now was around two years ago, but they are all great. :)
BTW, my center's base fee is currently $9 per week (times the number of weeks for your program, you know that). We just had a REALLY short promotion for $6 weeks, though, so I'd check around, if you are fortunate to have multiple centers in your area, and see if anyone's running a special. Good luck! Fiona |
Hi Joy and Welcome Back!!!
I joined LAWL on July 15 while they were running a $5 per week special. My center's regular base fee is $7 per week. Keep checking the LAWL web site - if you type in your zip code it will give you a list of centers in your area, as well as internet promotional specials. That site was running the $5 per week special up until recently. I think they have switched over to a free cookbook right now - but I'm not sure if that's zip code dependent. Good luck and welcome back - I look forward to sharing the journey with you as well!!! June |
Hi Everyone and Welcome Joy:
I've been reading, but haven't had time to post. I've been very busy at work, and my husband has been taking some online tests for is appraisal license renewal and working in between - so little time to actually post. I went to the center on Friday and stayed that same. I asked for the 2-day take off menu, but I didn't buy the juice. I'm going to try something else for a replacement. I know that someone here used cantelope so it's not the juice that does the majic - it's the lack of food for 2 days. I think I'm going to start it tomorrow. The woman at the center tried everything she had to sell me stuff on Friday. She tried selling me 3 bottles of juice for something like $64, then she tried to sell me a case of it (12 bottles) because if I purchased the case I could get 30% off and it would only be $16 and some change for a single bottle (but the case was only $201.00). I swear if they heard themselves - they wouldn't be able to live with themselves. She looked at my chart, and smiled and said - oh, you only have 10 lbs to get to your goal, never mind she said. Then she started on the bars, said I should be very low (I'm not) by now. Told her I had plently at home. She went on and on. Told me I could purchased whatever she was selling on a 3 month same as cash card, told her no. She finally said, I'm not going to sell you anything today am I, and I said - No, not today. Held my ground and came out with nothing more than the menu I wanted in the first place. Joy, just remember when they try to sell you something that you can't afford, there are all kinds of things they can do to reduce the cost and make a sale. Since you have been on LA before, you know all about the LA Lites. They will always bring the price down if you haggle a little with them. I only purchase in the 20 box bulk size, which is really only 10 boxes. Since it's been a few years since you were on program, the only thing they sell in the single box size anymore is the Fruit and Oat bars. Take care everyone. ~Sy~ P.S. It's the end of the summer, but the past 2 days it has been above 85 degrees - I'm enjoying the last of the summer. |
Hi SY!!!
Glad to hear from you!!! And personally I think you did great staying the same, especially since you were travelling!!! I don't like to be nickle and dimed either - that's why I was so glad when they let that one counselor go who was more interested in selling products and keeping track of inventory than actual progress on the program. The three counselors that are at my center now are all wonderful - so I am very happy and never get haggled anymore. Good for you standing your ground!!! I'm the one that did the Two Day Take Off Menu they just gave you replacing each serving of juice with 1/8 canteloupe. I was also told to add one egg because I excercise so much. I lost 3 pounds doing the following menu for two days, and surprisingly I wasn't hungry. (Remember, I'm the one that gained 3 pounds drinking that juice the first two days due to the grapefruit content which I can't have.) Here's what I had for those two days: Breakfast: 1 scrambled egg (I just beat the egg in a small bowl, added a little water and put it in the mircrowave for 2 minutes - then stirred.) 1/4 tsp Morton Lite Salt sprinkled on egg. 1/8 canteloupe 16 ounces water Mid-Morning Snack 1 LA Lite Bar 8 ounces water Lunch 3 ounces Bumble Bee Very Low Sodium Tuna 1 cup lettuce 1/8 canteloupe 16 ounces water Afternoon Snack 1 LA Lite 1/8 canteloupe 8 ounces water Dinner 3 ounces Bumble Bee Very Low Sodium Tuna 1 cup lettuce 1/8 canteloupe 16 ounces water 7:30 PM 4oz Nature's Reply Tea 8 oz Hot Lemon Water My excericise was 3 1 mile walks and one workout with the Easy Steps tape each day. It really wasn't bad at all and it worked for me. Good luck with it!!!! Glad to see you back!!! June |
Thanks everyone...
Thanks to you all for the information and encouragement. I will be checking around for the best rates. Personally, I made some substitutions for the LA Lites in the past, and plan to do the same to save some money. I still have an entire pantry full, and I can occasionally find great deals on eBay.
I'll let you all know what I come up with. With my weight goals, I'll need to pay for 30 weeks along with additional expenses. Yikes! I'm not looking forward to parting with that money, but I am certainly looking forward to a NEW ME! Have a great week, and I'll be in touch! Good luck to you all with this week's goals and milestones. |
Hi to Sy, Diane, June,Meltin (where are you?) and all the newer people and a special hi to Joy. I just returned yesterday from my dd's in Raleigh so I know a bit about your city. I went to LAWL twice while I was there. I ended up half a pound up from when I went on vacation. However New YOrk state might have done me in. We left Raleigh yesterday at 5 a.m. and arrived home at 11:00 p.m. Thought of you Sy - we ate dinner at the Cracker Barrel in Cicero. I actually ate breakfast - boy those biscuits are TOO good. MY dh and I shared the driving and it really wasn't too bad. We spent a few days at Carolina Beach too. Re:LAWL in Raleigh - I thought they were really nice and very welcoming. I would definitely go there and recommend them if I lived in Raleigh. The day of reckoning will be tomorrow when I weigh in here. Wish me luck and I promise to figure out everybody's names.

Beach: It's good to hear from you again, and I know exact where you ate breakfast. I live about 15 minutes from the Cracker Barrel in Cicero. I was over that way on Saturday and it would have been fun to meet you in person. Maybe sometime in the future. You did a great job for being away for 2 weeks and only being up a 1/2 lb - I'm proud of you! I have no idea what happened to Meltin, but I know that she was not feeling like things were working out for her as far as LA at the time. I hope she stops back and visits here - just so we know what happened of her. Her area has been getting slammed this year with the hurricanes, and from the sounds of the weather channel last night - you got out of Raleigh, NC just in time as they are expecting great amounts of rain from the "H" hurricane that is moving up the coast. Yikes!
I have to go back and read what has been posted since Saturday, glad your back. This board is really active, sometimes it takes me a while to read everything before posting. Today, I just posted without reading. |
June: Thanks for the info and I have started my 2-Day Take-Off today. Sorry for being lazy and not want to reseach who did the fruit (and also had the gain on the LA Juice). They broke up my menu a little differently that yours (I'll post below what they suggested).
I purchased a 1/2 gallon of Tropicana Orange Pineapple juice to replace the LA Lite juice. I can't see spending $20 on a bottle of juice, and if they didn't include that in the initial cost of the program - I doubt I would have purchased it at the start of LA. Breakfast: 1/2 LA Lite bar Juice Mid Morning: 1/2 LA Lite bar Juice Lunch: 1/2 LA Lite Bar Juice 3 oz cooked meat Mid Afternoon: 1/2 LA Lite Bar Juice Dinner: 1/2 LA Lite Bar Juice 3 oz cooked meat Follow with 3 days of NO beef, pork or tuna. |
Good Morning Chicks.....
Sammy...
You said "Gosh all you biker babes are going to look so HOT next summer in your new sizes!" That is a concern, usually I look HOT becuz of the weather and the fact that you have to wear blue jeans, boots and possibly leater. Then let's see, oh yeah, there is always helmet hair to contend with - yuck  About my butt getting sore, that's where the extra weight can be to your advantage (possibly the only time). I have a really nice Mustang seat on my bike so it's very chick rider friendly ;) The best seat is on the back of my hubby's bike, it's like a big ole cushee deluxe bar stool with a view :) :dancer: Fiona, I'm doing the happy dance with you...Congrats on your 5 pounds! Where's you 5 lb chick avatar? Hi Joy and welcome. I'm fairly new too and I love this group. It is alot of good support and information here. My LA center had an all time low of $3 per week, so be sure to check around before you resign. Oh I would also be very interested in what you used in place of the LA Lites. I'm all out of those and don't want to buy anymore at LA. They are too pricey for me at this time, I have some other obligations with my money coming up..... :?: Congrats on your marriage and babies.....all worth the weight! Sy - wow that 2 Day Take-Off you used is really very little food. BUT thanks for the idea, becuz I don't plan on paying the money for more juice either. I'm gonna make note of that plan, I'm sure I'll need it sooner or later.... :thanks: June, Kristi, Karen...Okay girls, I bought the Bun & Thigh Roller Saturday. Saved money by picking it up at the "As Seen On TV" store. So hubby put it together for me Sunday morning. He was glad he did too when I put in the tape and this girl on the tape, Tatianna her shorts were so small that her "private parts" were showing and her top was so low that even I couldn't get past her body, to watch the demostration.... :o Then I thought, if there are women like this, why am I even trying :?: Actually, I could see how the roller would work if used on a regular basis and it really only takes 5 minutes. On the other hand, Tatianna's look took alot more than you'd ever get from any kind of exercise equipment. Also, they send the beginner tape, I'll have to order the intermediate and advanced tapes. I'm just hoping there is a male instructor on those two. :) Beachlover, sounds like you did great on plan while on vacation. Welcome back. One question, why does it seem that during the week, there is enough food on this plan, but on the weekend it's never enough :?: |
Good Morning Everyone!!!
Check out my new avitar!!! I weighed in this morning and was down 2.2 lb. from my last weigh-in on Thursday. So.... Total Net LAWL loss is now 16.8 lbs in just over 6 weeks, so my average weekly weight loss is now 2.8 lb per week!!! And... total weight loss since I started dieting this summer is now 18 lbs!!!! I'm looking forward to getting my pedicure and will probably call Mom to see if she wants to make a morning of it one day this week - I think I might also deserve a manicure as well!!! Star: Why is it that even excercise tapes meant for women have instructors that are so attractive to men!!!! I'm with you - I certainly hope they put some males on the Intermediate and Advanced tapes!!! Does the machine fold up enough to store under the bed???? Let me know how you like it because I may invest in one once the weather gets too cold to walk. Beachlover: I think you did great only gaining .5 pounds after being on vacation for two weeks!!!! You should be very proud of yourself!!!! SY: I noticed that there weren't any veggies on your Take-Off plan. Two servings of green veggies was on the printed plan they gave me. The only adjustment I had to make was to replace each juice serving with 1/8 canteloupe. I'm wondering if this is a totally different plan they gave you. Let me know if you get a chance. Good luck - I know you'll do great with it. Joy: I asked at my center if there were any promotions coming up and there should be something during Labor Day Week - but they think it's the Lite Bars. Kristi, Sammy, and Fiona: How did your weekends go??? Looking forward to hearing from you. Diane: Are you back yet. Missing reading your posts. Have a great day - I'll be back later. Hugs, June |
P.S.
Karen: How are things going? Did you have a good weekend. There are so many names now on this board, it's wonderful, but I knew I had missed someone!!! Sorry about that!!! BTW Whatever happened to Berkley98 and Meltin? June |
Hello
June - :bravo:
Way To Go, you are my new Idol (unless you look like Tatianna) Your weekly average was really high. You must be an over achiever, right :?: The roller will not store under the bed, it will store in the closet. I plan on calling to see how much the other tapes are in a minute. Plus there is an arm attachement to work the upper body also.... Talk to ya'll later.... |
Good morning everyone. It's going to take me a while to get everyone straight. I went to LAWL this morning (first time here since vacation 2 weeks ago) and they told me I'm the only one who kept a food journal during vacation. I've now lost 35.2 pounds since April 15th. I'm very happy about that and will continue on this plan. I have 18 pounds to go to get to goal. This is the closest I have been to goal in years. Thanks to all of you for your continued support. It really is comforting to know others are in the same boat as you.

Good morning everyone!!
Sy, Beach and Star: can I just ditto what June said? June: way to lose!! :D My average after two weeks is 2.4, I'd love to be able to sustain that (and shave two whole months off my program!). Well, my weekend went okay. Good even, but probably not *great.* I didn't measure each and every serving of fruits and veggies I ate, so I probably came up a little short even though it felt like I was munching constantly. And I overdid it a leeeetle bit on the starches yesterday, but at dinner I did choose a grilled chicken sandwich (no mayo, forgetting that I hadn't gotten my fat for the day yet  ) and a salad rather than the burger and fries I normally would have gotten. And I kept my nose out of the dessert for DD's birthday party yesterday. :smug: I wasn't going to weigh in today - give myself a day to take care of those extra carbs - but I realized I won't have time tomorrow so I guess I'm going to have to face the music. Even if there's no loss, I'm still a little ahead, so that's okay. Oh, and I finally have a "mini" goal! I want to be at my halfway point - 175 - by the new year. I just can't think as far ahead as the third week in June, I'm finding, but thinking in any smaller number ("I want to break the 200's by XXX") is still kind of depressing because it only makes me think of HOW FAR I have yet to go. (BTW, to be at 175 by the end of the year will mean averaging 2.3 pounds lost per week. Yes, before you even ask, I AM the overachieving type. :D ) Have a great day everyone! :) :) :) Fiona |
Hi all: Well, as I was working I thought about what I posted and I made more than that 1 error that you caught June, here is the new/correct version:
************************************************** ******** Breakfast: 1/2 LA Lite, 8oz of Juice Mid Morning: 1/2 LA Lite, 8oz of Juice Lunch: 3 oz cooked protein, 1 serving of green veggie, 8oz Juice Mid Afternoon: 1/2 LA Lite, 8oz of Juice Dinner: 1/2 LA Lite, 3 oz cooked protein, 1 serving of green veggie NO beef, port or tuna for 3 days following Take-Off. ************************************************** ******** I only brought to work enough Juice for 2 servings, so I wll add the Juice I missed to my dinner or later this evening (depends on how I feel). So far, so good - hope I feel the same way this evening after going to the gym. If I'm really hungry, I will add an egg white like you suggested June. I don't think that the 17 calories for a egg white will effect the 2 Day Take-Off. I may need it after 40 minutes on the elliptical and the 90 crunches. :cheer: :cheer: June, your doing so good I don't know what to say, other than - YOU GO GIRL!!! :bravo: Beach - ditto on my commets to June! ~sy~ |
