Thank you for the information. I have pretty much decided to give it a try. I even thought about asking/telling friends who might have tried it and stopped (great minds think alike? lol).

I am thinking I will get the 2 month supply and then figure it out from there. I would think that after the two months I would have much better habits, and so I'll have to decide then if I continue with the pills or just the meal plans.

Again, thank you for the input - much appreciated!

I'm so glad I found this thread. I am planning to start Alli tomorrow (I know, it's cliche, but it is what it is). My MIL tried it and didn't think it helped (her metabolism is shot from years of ephedria), so she gave me hers and also picked up the book at the Dollar Store for me. Anyway, the book says to start with 15% of calories from fat and work up to 30%. Does anyone eat that much fat? I've been on Weight Watchers before, so when I "go on a diet" (I hate to think about it that way), I eat low fat, and found it tough today (while trying to do 15%) to eat enough fat. Is it important to eat more fat? Does that help? Thanks for all your input. It's so hard to find people who don't just say "Yuck! Alli is gross."

Nova,

I have taken Alli in the past and only suffered the side effects when I went over 20-25% fat.

Alli will increase your success and your results IF you are moving more and eating less calories. If you change nothing, it will help 0.

By the way, great deal on ALLI this week at WALGREEEN'S. It is in the paper for 180 pills for 60 dollars.

Nova, I'm sort of like you. Many of my meals are not that high in fat, so I just skip the Alli for that. Why waste a pill? But I'm not sure it's intended for such casual use.

From my research and what I have read Alli stays in your system a few days. So if you skip a pill and then eat high fat you may still find yourself in the bathroom a lot the next day.

It basically says this in the little books that come with it. If you eat extremely low fat and don't exercise Alli won't do you much good BUT... if you eat a well balanced meal (protein, carbs and a little fat) and you exercise moderately you will lose 50% more weight than if you didn't take Alli.

So if you lose 10 pounds with Alli you will lose 15lbs.

Thanks for the advice! I actually did go to Walgreens today - with the coupon in their ad this week, you can get 180 pills for $50! Great deal! So I'm set for a while.

I've been looking over the materials and am actually kind of excited. I mentioned before that I eat really low fat when I'm dieting, but looking at the menus, I realized that I also eat too little in general. I'm not sure why this has never occured to me before, as I know eating too little can really hinder your weight loss efforts. I guess I always thought that was a problem OTHER people had, not me. So, after I get my little ones to bed, I'm planning my meals for tomorrow.

Happy New Year everyone!

Default Alli

I bought some Alli a few months back, however, I never started using it. I was always afraid of the "treatment effects". Since, that time I talked with my doctor about the possibility of having WLS. However, it has taken time for me to get scheduled for the "Pathway" classes that are required prior to surgery. I will pull out the starter pack of "Alli" tomorrow and start using it until I can start the "Pathway" classes for the WLS.

I started alli about a week ago and I love it so far. I know that my mom got treatment effects but she did not diet or exercise when she was taking alli. Its definitely doing its job of boosting my weight loss.

If you're going to take it for the first time make sure you do not eat more than 15 grams of fat on meals that you take the pill on. You can take the pill up to an hour before or after and even during the meal to have it work effectively.

I bought an alli set a few months ago but stopped taking it because I figured if I wasn't excersing or eating right then what was the point?

But since I am making the effort I plan on going back on the diet,

and F.Y.I wal-mart is having a sale. 180 pack for on 50 bucks!

Flatiron: The story about your sister made me LOL.

I'm thinking of trying this. I may go for a couple of weeks without it and see how I do and then add it. My sister used it successfully after her weight loss had stalled at about 165. She eventually got down to about 135. Her highest was 240. Previous to Alli it was diet and exericise alone. She is religious about her exercise. She never misses a day. I'm trying to follow her example!

Hi everyone, I've been a member of 3FC for a while I just haven't been posting and I thought now's a good time to start lol. I tried Alli like 6 months ago but only for a couple days and never really gave it a chance to work. Now I'm back on it and willing to give it another shot. Today is only day 2 for me but I'm feeling pretty good so far.

For my food plan I'm just aiming to get close to my fat/calorie goal for each meal which is 19/1800. I'm not force feeding myself diet foods that I hate because I know I'll never stick with it. Instead I'm eating somewhat normal but I'm making healthier choices that I like when the opportunity presents itself.

Fitness wise I'm going to try and work out 5 days a week with 25 minutes of cardio just to start with since at the moment I can't do to much. When it get's easier I plan to add more.

I also have to work on drinking more water, I can go all day on only 1 cup of water and 5 cups of coffee which I know is soooooo bad! I'm trying to switch to green tea instead and I'm adding those crystal light packets to my water bottles to help me drink up.

My weight goals are in my signature and since I can get obsessed with the scale I'm only going to weigh in every 2 weeks. Thanks for reading everyone! I hope this thread stays alive!

Good luck GypsyLove! I've been taking alli for over a year (a prescription form before it became over the counter).

The side effects are predictable. Eat badly and expect some side effects, for me usually the following day. Try to stay away from fatty foods and you will do fine!
