The sun is shining today . . . :yay: . . . but it is definitely not very warm out there.

Had a great day of shopping yesterday, but a disaster on the eating level -- carrot cake and garlic breadsticks were included -- :o

I sure do like the blueberry/feta/romaine salad. I had it again tonight. We eat so many tomatoes, that I am sort of burnt out on them. The blueberries are such a nice change.

I made a pannini for lunch. I used a box of salt to weigh it down. Two small pieces of garlic french bread, one slice of procciutto, and some low fat cheese. I sprayed the bread with olive oil before putting it in the pan. It was pretty tiny, but very yummy.

Happy to report that I definitely had a clean eating day yesterday . . . here's hoping for two in a row.

Another beautiful sunny morning; so guess I'll have to get myself out there. Won't be long before I'll be complaining about the snow.

Have a great Saturday gang. . . grouphug:

mmmm- house smells good

Busy Saturday for me. Lots of cooking, cleaning, canning. Youngest son went out to our apple trees, and brought me in 20+ pounds, so I'll be making and putting up apple sauce today. I have a pot in the oven full of onions, slowly roasting for onion soup and/or dip - the house smells great.

And, since we had changed the dog's diet to a raw-type diet, I also sent young son out to pick some kale and collards, and I'll mix them with sweet potato and other veggies for the dog's "veggie burgers" (the 'taters get cooked til soft, then toss it all in the food processor- then make 2/3 cup patties, to put in the freezer). She (the pooch) gets one per day, along with other doggie-type yummies (raw chicken backs, yogurt, cottage cheese, other supplemental-type stuff). I know it's more work, but she had started having terrible reactions to her kibble food - since switching, she stopped chewing herself to shreds.

Hey - did I just start my dog on Labrador-Volumetrics???

Another sunny and cool day for the east coast of Canada . . . I just love it.

judi- wow what a lucky dog. my puppy has to settle for Iams puppy food.

Everyone have a great Sunday.

judipurple 10-05-2008 12:49 PM

Lucky? no, just spoiled!;) But, she's 10 years old, and, like her mother did, has cancer. We can't do much about it, and since she is in no discomfort, we feel that spending the time to make her happy & well fed will be worth it while we still have her.

This is just one of those hectic days when time seems to move at about twice the normal rate of speed -- no idea what I've been so busy with, but it's 2 pm already. :dizzy:

meowee 10-07-2008 11:24 AM

It is cold and raining today . . . and I slept in again . . . guess I'd better start setting the alarm for a couple of days since daylight is not arriving in time to wake me up.

hi all- the puppy has a strain in his left shoulder so it was a visit to the vet today. he has to take a few days off from doggie day care. ah, my poor little furkid.

ArtCat 10-08-2008 03:17 PM

Well, I'm finally back after almost a month with an unreliable computer, or no computer at all! It's surprising how dependent you get on your computer.

I've been kind of staying OP and keeping up with exercising, so hopefully my numbers will be good the next time I weigh in. Maybe I'll do it this week.

Teacher- how did your puppy strain his shoulder? That sounds like a difficult injury to get, although from what I've been hearing from my daughter, those boxers sure like to ram around a lot! She takes hers to puppy class, and he wears out all the other dogs in the class.

Diet Newbie

Hi all!

My name is Lauren. I've never dieted before. Everything I'd heard of always seemed too complicated or unrealistic. I've spent the past week getting up to speed by reading the Eating Plan book and sifting through months and months of this message board... I've started cardio workouts almost every day and the goal is to lose 50 lbs in a year. (I have nooo idea how realistic that is, we'll see.) :running:

I'm really excited about volumetrics because, well, it just seems to make sense, but after only a few days, I'm already really missing cheese, crackers, potato chips, etc. I know I could eat them, but it doesn't seem worth it right now. At least my sweet tooth at least is getting taken care of. I'm loving eating more fruit. :hun:

Three questions (for now)
Should I buy the weight control plan book?
How do I get a neat progress tracker on my posts?
What do you folks snack on that's savory and low ED? (suggestions especially appreciated for bringing food to snack on in a cubical farm with very, very limited refrigerator space)
