My hubby is a big hunter, too. We have a freezer full of game. I don't care much for the venison myself, but I do like the elk. He got lucky and got a draw hunt for elk in an area that should be really good. And the game is better for us than beef. Wild game and a big garden -- really keep our grocery bills down.

Meowee, I hope everything is ok your way.

Hey, everyone. I am back from my wonderful trip to Italy. Immediately after that we rushed to my DH's 50th class reunion.

I haven't weighed myself yet. I am afraid to. I didn't make a pig of myself, but I just haven't been eating right for a while now. We made a stop at Costco and Trader Joe's on the way home from the reunion, and I am well stocked with good things.

Back later.

Wow Gail- Italy, that's wonderful :)

I'm looking forward to my trip to Disney World in 2 weeks. School is crazy this year.

Have a great night!

Glad you had such a great trip, GAIL . . .

Nothing exciting around here -- the sun is starting to shine and the temperatures are definitely falling -- at least there is no snow in the forecast, yet.

Later everybody . . . :carrot:

... just poppin' in & read your post! It's always nice to receive a compliment - I agree with you, someone acknowleging your weight loss is motivation to keep you trying!

(and the opposite can happen too, I had lost 36lbs, no one said anything to me - it got me depressed & I gained back 30!)

such is life eh!

I have been a bit bummed the last few weeks. I've lost 50 pounds over the course of the past 2 years, but have recently gained about 15 of it back. I need to "get my mojo" back and get back on track. It is probably time for a lot of self pep talks.

ArtCat 10-30-2008 08:35 AM

Sorry to hear that, purple- maybe read the Volumetrics or some other inspiring book again? That always helps me. I also realized that I'm about 10lbs away from going from the obese category to the overweight one. I've decided that that's my new goal- to get off the obese list. I think I have to start by seeing myself differently. Maybe pull out on old picture of you 50 lbs heavier and appreciate what you've done so far, and then try to figure out where you let your guard down. I know with me I always intuitively know, I just don't like to face it and give up that pleasure.

Welcome back Gail- we missed your gourmet food diaries!

Cher- how do your clothes goals work? do you already have those items and are trying to fit back into them, or are they things you want to get as rewards for yourself?

purplefingers 10-30-2008 01:51 PM

Thank you Liz, that is a good idea. I can generally find something that I have forgotten when I reread.

I am curious, too, about the clothes incentive.

Happy Halloween, everybody.

Happy Spooky Day . . . :witch:

ArtCat 11-01-2008 10:26 AM

Wow, we didn't have many trick-or-treaters last night! As a result, we have some candy left but luckily I didn't buy much in the first place.

In the olden days I used to run out the day after Halloween to get good deals on bags of candy, but not anymore. I guess I have made some progress!
Hope everyone has a nice weekend- the weather here is just beautiful!

meowee 11-01-2008 10:36 AM

Good Morning . . .

It was a pretty quiet Halloween around here too and I get so few kids that I stopped giving candy years ago and just give them a bit of money instead. Saves wear and tear on my waistline and my good resolve.

Beautiful and sunny today, but the temperatures are 'seasonal' and for the first of November in Atlantic Canada -- that means it's pretty darn cold.

Have a great day, see you all later . . . :grouphug:

meowee 11-02-2008 03:35 PM

Really cold and windy today and the snow has finally decided to put in an appearance; but it really isn't sticking around.

ArtCat 11-03-2008 08:42 AM

Hope everyone had a good weekend- mine was fairly temptation-filled, but I think I did OK. I can see why they recommend writing stuff down- when you're really busy it all becomes a blur, and it's hard to remember correctly how much of what you've had. I just tried to make good choices all day long, and hopefully that was good enough!
