Default YOAD August Exercise Challenge!

Any chance YOAD people would want to revive the exercise challenge thread? I see it's been idle awhile.

Sounds like a good idea! Count me in and what do we want to set as a challenge?

I don't know, I've never done this before. Any ideas would be welcome.

How about minutes or miles of some sort of activity? You set a goal for the week, or month, and then report in on your progress?

Also, I was thinking we should start a new thread for this - January to August is a bit of a gap - I'll take care of merging these posts into it.

Okay, well....I am going to set my goal for at least 30 mins of walking everyday without fail. That is what the docs are suggesting in the book. Of course I will still do my weight training and some other classes through the week but will not go to bed until I have walked at least 30 mins a day. I believe it is do able.

I am going to go with both goals, walking 30 minutes a day, strength training 3 times a week.

August 1: since I didn't get up at 4 in the morning (about the only time to walk during this incredible heat), I did the 2 mile Walk Away the Pounds video, which takes 30 minutes.

Well, 3 days are gone but I'll still join in. I would also like to shoot for 30 minutes of walking a day.

How does this work? Do we report weekly or just keep checking in each day? TIA

Ok, today I did my planned workout - my BFL upper body workout. Boy am I going to be sore tomorrow! I was at the gym for an hour. I think what I'll do is add up what my total minutes at the gym this month should be, and then compare my running total against that.

60 minutes in today!

Missed walking yesterday....too hot. Definitely on for tonight though. My oldest DS is in the process of moving out so I should be free for the treadmill tonight because of the heat outside....already seeing the weight move today...down 3 pounds since Saturday morning.
