Congrats Jennifer, 7lbs is SUPER!!!!

I have skipped the gym yesterday and today so far, but I am going to get in an hour later today..I was just toooooo tired this morning. So I will go tonight when I get off work, plus I plan on walking home for lunch and getting in a little movement then...so that will help.

I have a question for you ladies that have been taking ALLI for a while. I have not had "treatment effects" yet, because I have limited every single meal to 15 grams or less of fat. However, my huband and I have a usualy Friday night ritual of going to the Japanese Steakhouse (where they cook at your table). The shrimp and veggies are fine, but the Fried Rice will get me. My question is.....if we go there a couple Fridays a month, how do I do the ALLI to keep from having treatment effects if I go over 15 FG. Do I just not take that nights pill, or do I need to not take any at all that day? I guess what I am having a hard time clarifying is: Does just skipping that pill protect me, or will the pill from that days breakfast and lunch still get me? Also, when I take the pill the next morning with breakfast, will it kick in and cause TE from the night befores meal? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Jenifer

Hi Everyone,
I had started another ali forum, but it seems like they are not really Ali supporters. Hope you have room for one more. I had heard about Ali a while ago, and just recently decided to give it a try. I am very pleased with my results so far. Just started last Sunday and I've already noticed a big difference. Just today, I was able to wear a pair of my skinny jeans (we all have those, right?) We keep them in the back of the closet just in case we lose weight. I think the inches are coming off more than the actual pounds so far. I am walking on my treadmill every evening and lifting free weights every other. I am not following a meal plan. Instead, I am planning all my meals based on the recommended percentages of fat calories. I have a chart that is so easy to use when buying groceries. So far, I am not having any stomach problems. I am really excited that I am finally losing weight after so many failed attempts. My goal is to lose 17 pounds.

Elvis
I think Alli is great as long as people understand when they quit taking it they are going to have to reduce the amount of fat they are taking in by 15%. It is just another tool. For some people it works great. For others it doesn't work. I see nothing wrong with people using tools to help them along the journey we are all on as long as those tools are healthy tools. A food scale, measuring cups/spoons and exercise videos are other tools people use. Some people want to use one kind of tool, some people want to use other kind of tool.

Jenifer, from what I"ve read, the Alli that you took the day before would still be in your system when you eat the higher fat meal. I wouldn't take one when I ate that meal, so maybe that would help things even out a bit. I have gone over on the fat grams, taken an alli, and I still haven't had any nasty TE's. BUT there are many people who have not been as lucky.

Elvislvr, good luck with the 17 pounds!! It isn't great when your clothing starts fitting better? I know that journaling the foods that I eat has helped me be more accountable to myself. I have also started getting in more exercise.

My mini-goal right now is to lose 15 pounds by the end of June. I'm taking a step aerobics class 3 mornings a week and a water aerobics class 2 nights a week. I need to just get out and walk also.

Hi Everyone,
I hope you're all having a great weekend. Where is everyone from? I am in Virginia. Its a beautiful day! I plan to get all my summer clothes out today. I'm anxious to see if anything fits better now than it did last summer. As I said, I'm mainly losing inches right now. Which, seems to make the biggest difference. How is everyone doing with their calories? I am used to sticking to around 1600 a day, however according to Ali we can have up to 1800? That seems like too much to me. About how much are you all eating a day? I have a desk job, and I pack my breakfast, snacks and lunch every day. I find that I am hungry pretty much all the time...Which is typical of a low fat diet. So, I do spread out all my food throughout the day. I eat around every 2 hours or so...not much, just something small...it seems to help. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I'm from the western side of Ohio. It was a nice day!! My clothes seem to be fitting better also. I recently started a program at the Y, and the instructor gave us fitness evaluations, etc. She has my daily calorie intake between 1800-2000. I've been sticking closer to the 1800. I'm 5'8", and I am heavy. I never type my weight. lol I am retired, so I can eat whenever I want during the day. We are trying to get my hubby's sugar levels under control, so we are eating/snacking every few hours. I do think that helps sometimes. Tonight we did sit down and have a nice dinner though, but we only ate half of our chopped steaks. We'll have that tomorrow. I haven't done much walking today, and I know that I should. Maybe I will before it gets dark.

Thanks Tammy. I think you are correct. I didn't take any pills on Friday or Saturday just to be sure. I started the pills back this morning. I was terrified LOL, but made it through unscathed.

Jenifer, glad you didn't have any problems!!!!
As for the goal lines, go to User CP, then click on Edit Signature. Then just follow the directions.

I am slowly making progress convincing my hubby that sugar-free things aren't awful! He is diabetic, and he is just now realizing that he needs to watch what he's eating. This past week I made a sugar-free lemon pie. We had sugar-free cool whip on it. Today I made a strawberry pie and used sugar-free glaze. He was impressed. Every little bit helps I guess.

We've been missing several people for a while from the Alli thread. Where did you go people????

Tammy
We had the sugar free debate today at our house. NO aspartame was the verdict. We decided to do with less. Since they don't want artificial sweeteners of any kind.

Well I am still doing the "no or very little" sugar thing also. That really helped me during LENT, so I am trying to stick with it a while.

I have been getting lots more exercise in lately! That has to help!

Thanks so much Tammy. Apparently because I am a new user, I can't edit my signature for 30 days. That is why I couldn't find it. I appreciate the help and will check back on it. I am still stuck on 7 lbs. I expected it to drop this morning. I am so impatient. I did so well over the week-end and usually dont even get 15 FG per meal. Maybe I am going too high on the calories or something is why I am still at 7 lbs. I have not really been counting calories, just FG. P.S. I am not having much sugar but I am drinking Diet Coke.

Shy, we do use splenda, but not in everything.

Still, good for you for getting in more exercise! I feel like I've been stepping it up on the exercise also.

Jenifer, I didn't think about you not posting enough to be able to do the signature thing. As for the calories, don't go too low, because that will slow down your metabolism.

I'm hoping for a loss sometime soon. I have been doing great with the food and water, and I'm definitely getting in the exercise.
