Default Happy New Year!!!

Good morning everyone! I am an "oldtimer" who is trying to find her way back to healthy living. 2005 was a really bad year for me and I am looking forward to 2006 being MUCH better!!! In that regard, I am trying to shed some pounds so that I can feel better about myself. My daughter will graduate from elementary school this year (it is a preschool thru 8th grade) and I want to look good at the graduation dance in June!

My goal is to shed 15 lbs by then. I plan to do this through eating right (right things, right time), drinking more water and exercise. I have fallen off the wagon with my water intake and food choices, so I want to get back on track. Exercise has always been a huge obstacle for me, but I have several ideas on how to overcome it this time. My husband begins outpatient therapy on Wed and I am going to inquire about using the treadmill or other cardio device while he is there. I have to drive him, so I would be sitting around doing nothing otherwise. I have my fingers crssed that they will allow this. My other idea is there is a gym near where my daughter goes to dance. If I can go work out for an hour or so a few times a week while she is at dance, that would be a big bonus. I will wait until Wed when we talk to the outpatient therapy to see what they will allow before I decide.

My husband fell off a ladder on Nov 20 and broke both his legs, which is why he has to go to therapy. It has been a very rough 7 weeks so far. Our patience is beginning to wear out and emotions are starting to take over. He had surgery on both legs, 3 plates inserted in one leg, 1 plate in the other. We have rented a hospital bed, wheelchair. He uses crutches now a little bit to get around. He is allowed to walk on 1 leg, but the other leg can't touch the ground for at least 3 more weeks. I have to do everything for him and the kids and the household. The added activity and stress has me down 9 lbs, so I want to keep the momentum going in the right direction.

I feel like 15 lbs in 5 months is a very realistic goal for me. Here's to achieving my goals!

Good luck to everyone else in their new years resolutions. I know we can all do it if we stick together and support each other!

TTFN- Sharon
