Default Newbie...

Well, I have finally hit bottom. I took pictures tonight for Christmas and I am a TANK. Here's my story...

I have battled my weight for as long as I can remember... It has always been an issue. I graduated right around 145 (in 1990) and I have always been an athlete. I went to college and gained the Freshman 20.... I know, it's the freshman 15, but not for me... My second year there I was at my highest at that point, I think about 165. I began to work out and watch my food intake and I lost about 30 pounds... I was (at my lowest) 138 and I was thinking about competing in a bodybuilding competition. I started dating a man and that was really the end of my "gym" days. I didn't want him to feel insecure because I was spending a lot of time at the gym (between that and school, there wasn't a lot of time left over)... my heart won me over...

After that relationship was treading in shallow water... I began to work out again and was back down to 155. I found my way back into my 6th grade sweetheart's arms and a year and a half later I was married. I continually worked out and things were going well (in that area, not the marriage). My husband and I decided to try and have a baby. I got on this kicvk of, no exercise (because you can't raise your bp THAT high while trying, you can't limit your eating because you want to be FULLY nourished, and basically, I BLEW UP. I wasn't successful at getting pregnant, but people were asking me if I was... I was huge. I had gone up to my highest 197.

Well, at the end of my marriage (it lasted 6 years) I decided that it was my husband's insecurity that was making me fat. He hated the fact that I had friends at my job, he hated the people at the gym, he hated my friends, etc. Well, I started working out and attending TOPS and lost 35 pounds... He liked me better fat and lazy...

I separated and divorced my weight was 153. I was fit, trim, and feeling great. After months of finding myself, I met my current husband (who is a WONDERFUL man). I was about 160 when we first started dating. After 3 months, I had back surgery... WOW, what an exercise program killer... I wasn't allowed to do anything for 9 months... I put on a bunch of weight... I was about 185 3 months before my wedding. I lost 16 pounds and got into my dress... after that... I was still using the "back surgery" excuse...

Well, it has been a year since my wedding and 2 years since my back surgery. I am now 187 pounds and I feel bigger than I did at 197.

I am starting back with Tae Bo tomorrow and I am moving the treadmill back into the livingroom (it is way too cold for me to walk outside).

I just need a buddy for a little encouragement. My husband has great encouragement for me but not a real motivator, he loves me as I am, but has no idea how unhappy I am.

I am a Phys Ed and Health Teacher and have been involved in athletics all my life and I coach 2 sports. I just need someone to hopefully, share experiences with and help motivate me along. I know we are all here for the same goal and hopefully someone will be willing to help me out here.

I am looking to lose at least 30 pounds, I know it won't be easy, but I have done it before, it is totally up to me.

My details: I am female (I am sure you guessed that already) 5' 8.5", 33 years old, married, school teacher, coach, and need your help!!!

Any takers???

Thanks... Deanna

Deanna! We would love it if you would join us on the 30 Something to Lose 30 Something thread! The "something" is very liberal. What grade(s) do you teach? I work in a middle school, I'm a parapro and have a 1:1 with an autistic student who I accompany to his regular ed. classes.

Thank you for the welcome... I started to read into the 30 something posts last night, that's why I jumped to the buddy up thread.

I teach 6th and 9th grade Phys Ed and 9th/10th grade Health. I work at the middle school in the morning and late morning I go to the high school.
