22 y/o looking to lose ~30 pounds...
So I found a great guy with whom I'd like to spend the rest of my life... and with our increasingly comfortable lifestyle came an increasingly UNcomfortable waistband!! I've put on 30 pounds in the last two years and lost all of my muscle tone... now I'm a squishy rectangular pillow-person. Oh yes, and apparently I'm very prone to stretch marks and cottage cheese, something I didn't realize until my body fat percentage skyrocketed.
My honey thinks I'm gorgeous just the way I am (actually, I think he likes me a little heavy, because it means it's ok if HE is! ;) ) but I'm not happy with the way I look and I need a CHANGE!! I'm joining a gym tonight!! Any other twentysomethings with 20-50 pounds to lose who want to commiserate? :) |
Hi there! I have a few lbs to lose also...been trying for a while now but would definitely like to get some weight loss buddies to chat with....
What kind of gym are you joining? I am doing weights and some cardio at the small one i go to ..:strong: Karla |
HI! I'm 23 going 24 and want to lose 39 pounds, I put on my weight when I got pregnant and can't seem to get rid of it. I started working out, now I need to get my eating under control. I think it would be cool to have some other people to chat with and to lose weight with, well Good luck

Well I joined Pure Fitness, local to me here in AZ and I think they're in Washington too, but that's it. It's actually a really nice gym.. my favorite part being the free personal training, 2 sessions your first month and one every month after that for as long as you're a member! :) It will be nice just to have somebody around to keep me accountable and check my progress, making adjustments to my program as necessary.
I will be doing a LOT of cardio (ugh) and some weight training. Once I've gotten the first 15 pounds off, I'll probably shift to more weight training. I'm a massage therapist and I used to work in a gym, so I KNOW how to be fit, it's just DOING it!! ;) |
I hear you!
Hi Ladies - I'm also a 22 year old looking to lose about 35-40 pounds. Its been about a year since I started losing weight and working out; as a senior in college the gym here was free and really close to my apartment, so I was really lucky.
I lost about 30 pounds and ALOT of inches, then gained some back and I've been stuck in a rut for the past couple months and need to find a buddy(ies) for encouragement. I'll be graduating in a week and life is stressful so I've been eating and I would like to get back into a routine; I start a job in July and would like to lose at least 10 pounds by then. I KNOW I can do it, its just a matter of getting it done. Just like you said gypzye :) I need to get ride of the old "I'll start next week" mantra. I'd love to chat with you all! |
Anyone Up For A Challenge
:smug: Hey I have an idea!!!! We could challenge each other to lose 18 lbs by the 4th of July, that's about 2 lbs a week...... I think we can do it. SO... is anyone up for the challenge?!?!?!?!!?? :)
|
Hey ladies! I'm in the same boat. I'm 22 y/o, and I need to lose about 25. I've already lost 4lbs, but I'm finding it really hard. I've been doing cardio for 45 a day for 5 to 7 days a week. I do some weight lifting about 4 or 5 days a week. However, I find it really hard. I work out at my apartment, and I'm really self conscious about lifting weights around other people. I do have two 8lbs weights at home that I like to use, but the fitness room has so much more...
However, I need a buddy or a bunch of buddies. I'm trying to be strong, but I keep having a craving for McDonald's fries dipped in sweet and sour sauce! |
I think we should be journal buddies!! I started a journal under gypzye, let's subscribe to each other's journals and post encouragement and little nags if necessary ;) ... post up your journal names here so I can subscribe to y'all!!
This is a surprisingly active category... so far we have: gypzye wkgirl t1iffany ErMac22 kellbee With 5 of us, there will always be SOMEbody wanting to work out!! ;) I'm hitting the gym tonight with my fh, he is going to wander around and do what strikes him but I will be doing a 60 minute Cardio Cross Training class! And then I'll probably go home, clean like a madwoman and move around heavy pieces of furniture!! :) |
Hey Girls, I need the encouragement also. I am 22 years old and weigh 186 want to get to 145. I have joined a encouragement group with these great ladies called Curvy Vixens. Theyare so cool and so encouraging, anyone is welcome to check it out.
But i would like to chat too. I have just recently lost 10 pounds but want to really get motivated and into it. I know i can do it, In september we go to the beach, and i want to be able to look good for there. So any help would be great. send me a message if anyone is interested. or email me j m teague @ gmail.com without the spaces Jessica |
Can I please join? I need some support, too! I am 23 and have put on 20 lbs. since I graduated from college (moved back home there's food all over the house I am not used to having around.) I weigh 135 now and want to get back down to 115. I am 5'2. I am pretty toned, but I need to lose this layer of flab. Fourth of July sounds great to me! I am going to see my boyfriend the third week of July and I would like him to see me the way we were in college rather than the lazy *** person I have turned into now.
|
Holy crap you guys, I just remembered I have a family reunion 4th of July week!! I'm totally down for a challenge before then. My AIM and Yahoo! IM names are hey, you guessed it, gypzye  so if you see me online feel free to drop me a buddy request!! :)
I am weirdly excited about going to the gym tonight. I'm all dancing around waiting until 5 when I can leave... crazy!! |
Challenge
Yeah for responses! I would LOVE to do a challenge for 4th of July, mine would probably be 15 pounds. I think we should definitely coutine the thread and encourage one another. I know I need all the help I can get!
Krissy, I'm nervous the pounds are going to come back on for me too after graduation. Home always such good food! Hope to hear from you ladies! |
yeah!!!!! I'm excited that I'm not doing this alone... So what does everyone plan to do? I'm going to give up fast food and desserts and exercise everyday until the 4th. I'm going to go to the gym and work out with weights every other day and on the days that I don't go to the gym I'm going to walk and do Tae Bo. Well I put it in writing so now I have to do it . GOOD LUCK TO US ALL.
|
I'm going to hit the gym at least 5x a week... I'm secretly shooting for six. ;) Also I'm giving up soda (God that is hard to say... I'm such a Dr. Pepper addict) and limiting myself to one cup of coffee in the morning. If I drank it black, it wouldn't matter, but I dump two Tbsp. of sugar and a quarter cup of creamer in it so it really doesn't belong on the diet at ALL but hey, I need my coffee....
Mostly I'm trying to up my water intake (a major issue with me) and watch my portions. As another poster said, I'm on the "Am I going to regret eating that tomorrow?" diet plan and the "I need to get off my butt and go to the gym" exercise plan!! |
well I've lost my 2 lbs this week so I'm hoping by the end of the week it mught be 3 or 4 lbs yaaaaaaaaaaaa yaaaa hip hip hooray (sorry got a little carried away!!) I've worked out everyday this week and no desserts. So how is everyone else doing?? I hope well, GOOD LUCK Ladies hope to hear from you soon!

Boot Camp Community's 10 Commandments (from oprah's website)
1. I do deserve to have a strong and healthy body. 2. I do deserve to make all the time I need for myself. 3. I do deserve to be nurtured and loved for everything I am. 4. I do deserve a life free of lethargy, sluggishness and hopelessness. 5. I do deserve to look stunning! 6. I do deserve to free myself of negative people who seek only to cause me harm. 7. I do deserve wonderful positive people who encourage me to be the best me I can be! 8. I do deserve to eat for reasons of nutrition and not self medication. 9. I do deserve to be admired and stared at because I am a beautiful woman. 10. I do deserve to be strong throughout my life with a commitment to health and spirit. Posted by: andijen I thought that this was inspiring T1iffany |
That's awesome T1iffany! That is very powerful. I didn't hit the gym last night, I rearranged my house instead... still got my workout in, whew! I've been doing ok with my food, I need to cut the portions down still (I always end up eating so fast I'm stuffed before I realize I'm satisfied) but otherwise the choices, at least, have been healthful. I'm trying to drink my water right now but I accidentally left it in my car and now it's warm, ugh!!
We're still not done getting the house put back together so it's undecided on whether we'll hit the gym tonight or finish our project instead... :dizzy: |
I started counting calories and exercising like a mad woman about 2 weeks ago and 15 pounds fell off. I'm sure it was water weight and a nice way for my body to say "thank you" for finally picking myself up and doing this. For a while now I have been driving myself crazy because there was nothing in this life that I really felt passionately about (besides my husband of course). Then it hit me like a ton of bricks...I will be my new passion!! I am bound and determined to get back to the weight I was 10 years ago!! I am not giving up and I am not going to beat myself up if I slip every now & then. Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully find a buddy.
|
What a great way to look at it... YOU are your passion! With an attitude like that you CAN'T go wrong!! :)
I know a lot of people really struggle with "I don't have the time"... I just keep trying to tell myself to MAKE the time. I schedule it with my honey, I write it down in my dayplanner, and I work my day around it. No, interested buyers CAN'T come look at the bunk bed I'm trying to get rid of at 5, sorry, I WILL BE AT THE GYM. You can come after 7!! I like having the coolest new gadgets and toys and right now, I'm dying for a couple Nalgene bottles in cute, must-take-it-with-me colors. So I think I'm going to make that my first reward! When I lose ten pounds I will place my Nalgene order! |
ok so i'm a few days behind, but i so want to join this thread. i'm 22 and so far i've lost 27 pounds, but i still want to loose more. so far my dieting and exercising has been going so great, but i have a feeling i'm about to hit a plateau just because it's been fairly easy up to this point and i think i've about hit my max in easy weightloss. so i think encouraging others and being encouraged myself would be a good thing. i'm also about to graduate college and let me tell you stressful finals week and i so want some chocolate!!! i'm also probably moving from tn to wi soon and i'm hoping that won't throw me off too badly.
anyways i look forward to chatting with all you girls! |
Way to go, kitten--you've got just 15 pounds left to lose! But you're right, I hear those can be the most stubborn, so you're smart finding a support group BEFORE you get discouraged. :)
I told Kyle about my mini-goal and he said that when I lose ten pounds, HE'LL pay for my Nalgenes!! |
Amen Kitten! I'm in the middle of my finals this week with graduation on Sunday and I'm running on caffeine, no sleep, and a desire to eat all the M&M's they have at the library. AND its that time of the month. When it rains it pours! Needless to say I've been slacking the past two days and haven't made time for myself with all the studying; but I did get to the gym once, so that's been keeping me from feeling totally out of it. I'm going the Cancun as a graduation trip next week so hopefully I can use that to detox a little :smug: First time in a bathing suit since losing weight last summer so that should be somewhat of an incentive, dont you think?
Congrats on doing so well for the rest of you! I LOVE the nalgene goal gypzye, that's a great reward. I need to figure out what mine will be. No desserts Tiffany, you're a champ. Talk to you all soon! |
I have a couple of questions for you girls. How concerned should I be about sodium? I love pickles and they are only 5 calories but they are loaded with sodium!! Also, should I ever be worried that I worked out too much in one day? I don't want my body to go into "starvation mode" because I think I burned much more than I consumed yesterday. I had a spin class, went to work, came home and swam 50 laps in my pool, went on 45 min. bike ride around the city and then came home and lifted weights. I don't want to sabbotage my weightloss because I'm doing too much. Should I worry or cut back or what? Any suggestions would be appreciated!!
|
Well, leanne, knowing your average menu (as per your other thread), I would worry about too few calories in and too many out. Crazy as that sounds, right?!?
I think it's better if you make small-to-medium changes gradually rather than one huge, drastic change all at once. If it was MY body, it would already be in shock!! ;) How long have you been keeping up this regime? If it's been more than a couple weeks, you feel great and you're still losing weight, then totally ignore everything I've said. But if you're getting sick, feel fatigued, overwork your muscles regularly, or your weight isn't budging, then you should definitely make some changes. What you want to change is totally up to you! :D |
Thanks for the advice. I actually feel really great! I'm not going to get on a scale until the end of May. So I guess I'll see if it works when I weigh myself. I know that I'm losing something because of the way my clothes are fitting and for now that's enough for me! I really hope I'm not hurting myself but because I still feel really good, I'm not going to worry to much. Thanks again!! :D
|
well ladies wish me luck I'm goingto a b-day party and I'm going to have to turn down birthday cake ahhhhhh.. well i think I can do it but still wish me luck lol. I haven't missed a day of working out all week yet. I did two tae bo tapes this morning that was almost 2 hours. between tae bo and the gym I'm starting to get some pretty nice muscles when I flex. I feel so good since I stopped eatting crap and have been working out. I just wish the weight would come off as fast and easy as it went on. well good luck everyone and good bye to being fat and unhealthy
|
i'm so sad because usually i workout at the fitness center at my college, but since spring semester is over it will be a whole month until they start fitness classes again. the classes have really kept me motivated. i guess i'll have to motivate myself! i did buy the denise austin personal trainer video. it's pretty neat you can totally customize your workout. hopefully that and self motivation can keep me going through may!!!
tomorrow i'm spending all day long at graduation parties! ah! you know there's not going to be any healthy food around. so i think i'll hit smoothie king before i go to any of them. of course that won't help me say no to alcohol, but oh well! thank goodness finals are over!!! t1iffany: good luck on saying no to cake! i love cake! |
Hello all
Hi!
How is everybody doing? Im up for the July challenge! my scale hasnt moved for a few weeks, and lately Ive been really busy, so some buddies to keep me on track would be great! We just moved (again) and I m still trying to unpack my kitchen, paint the bedroom and chase arond my 2 year old:hyper: I will try and post on the journal part too, I use the net at my friends so i might not get here every day but Ill try.... Good Luck to you all and Keep up the hard work! :strong: :woo: PS my msn & yahoo.mess. are in my profile :D |
i didn't have any cake.... but i did have a cheeseburger and a hotdog (i should've had just one) oh well going to the gym in the morning. Well I hope everyone has a great weekend
|
Well at least you didn't have the cake!! ;)
I'm going to the gym today to work out with a trainer again.... aaaaargh, I'm still SO sore from my other workouts this week!! I seriously think I lost all my muscles when I switched to a sedentary job. Like I think I did maybe 20 lunges and my legs were shaking and sore. That's so lame. I used to be fairly muscled, so it totally weirds me out that I barely even support my own body weight anymore. Oh well, I'll just keep pushing at the gym and once I'm back to where I was then it'll be easier to just maintain! :D |
hey ladies how's everyone doing? I had a bad weekend (eating wise) but I've recovered, and I still lost weight so that will be 4 pounds for the week. I can't wait until we all reach our weight loss goals. well good luck and hope to hear from everyone.... Well GOOD LUCK AND GOOD BYE TO BEING FAT !!!!!!!!
http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tra...9/130/165/.png |
I wasn't going to weigh myself until the end of May but I was just too curious to see if the scale was moving in the right direction. It was all the motivation I needed to get through this next week!! I've lost another 4 lbs.!!!!!!! I can't belive I'm actually doing this and...all on my own!! I feel so much pride when I see that you have all been losing weight because I know how it feels to be uncomfortable in your own skin. I'm very proud of all of us!! We will succeed!!
|
yaaaa I'm so excited for you leannealise I know we all will succeed. :D
|
Do we have a challenge?
Do we have a challenge for the month of May? I think it is a bit easier for me to meet goals if they are in shorter time periods. I do have a goal for the 4th of July but a mini goal in just May and June will get me there for sure. Any suggestions for a mini goal in May? What is everyone else doing? Please share, I want to be inspired :D
|
my goal is a min of 2 pounds a week
|
we should try to schedule a chat one of these days so we can all chat together, i noticed there is a chat room on this site.( does anyone use it? )
|
Hi Ladies!

I just need the motivation and support! I am 5'3" and 70 pounds overweight! I am glad that I have found a group of similar aged people all giong through the same things (Finally!!!) |

|
Hello
:)
Hello! How is everyone? I didnt yet get any exercise in (for 3 days now) and I am still unpacking from moving so it is hard to make myself do it :( I would like to know if any of you are posting journals...and I think a 'chat' time is a great idea! Have a good day :D Karla |
I am posting a journal under the same username, and while I think a chat would be fun I don't know when would be a "good" time for me to participate... I'm finding time to exercise because I MADE that a priority but honestly if I find any "spare" moments I REALLY need to do some dishes...
I just started a new job today and the training is INTENSE. I'm actually supposed to be doing my homework now, but I wanted to pop in and say hi. :) I worked out Saturday but not Sunday. I went to the gym tonight for a one-hour aqua cardio class. I love water aerobics for some reason. I feel energized, and like I have twice the lung capacity, and I'm a little tired but not exhausted and most of all I think it's FUN, so I'm more likely to continue doing it!! ;) However, it's not the "best" workout... I don't work as hard as I would, say, on the elliptical or doing squats and lunges. So tomorrow I'm going to do a "real" workout and then Wednesday...ooh, I'm so excited, I'm going to take Salsa Aerobics!! :D I'm really enjoying my new gym's group exercise schedule!! :) I haven't weighed in yet... I figure I'll ignore it as long as I can and then hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised when I do finally weigh myself... ;) |
