morgan197 05-26-2005 02:40 PM

Hey Everyone. I saw this group and want to join yall. I am 22 also and trying to lose about 70 lbs. I am doing weight watchers. What is everyone else doing? I have got to start exercising. That is the hardest part to me. I can't learn to enjoy anything at the gym. I played softball in high school and that always kept me very active. Now I play but it is only once a week and not nearly as intense. Any suggestions to lessen the boredom??? I think I will set my goal at 10lbs by June 20th. I CAN DO IT!!!!!!!
Good Luck Girls

TheNewChristy 05-26-2005 03:16 PM

Hi all! I am new here too and would love to join this group! I'll give you a little of my history--

When I was in high school I became mildly anorexic and was a workout fiend--I worked out for a least an hour a day in class (high-impact aerobics or weight training) and then came home and biked anywhere from 3-12 miles (depending on time). I only ate once per day, and would always feel guilty about that meal and punish myself with extra exercise for doing it. I looked hot, but felt like crap! After high school I wasn't able to work out as often, and started having those liquor/pizza weekends--you know the ones? I got married, and by the time I got pregant with my son I was already up over 190 lbs from 115! Now my son is 1 year old, and my body is so shot from the way I've abused it I'm having a TERRIBLE time losing weight. I'm only 22 (the magic number! ;) ) and feel like I'm in my 40's...I need some help and support!! Right now I'm hovering around 200 lbs and not going anywhere--my goal is to get down into the 120's.

Hope you guys don't mind my joining! :)

bola81 05-26-2005 03:21 PM

HEY FAT CHIRSTY WELCOME CAN I ASK YOU HOW TAL YOU ARE? sorry for the caps i accidently had it on but where are you at right now and are you bf too?

TheNewChristy 05-26-2005 03:32 PM

Unfortunately I'm only 5ft 2 in, with a medium bone structure. :( And my hubby is 6ft and about 195 (I think that's what you were asking?). Short and wide--that's me!! One other thing to know about me though...and this may be TMI, but...I've always been rather...large...chested. When I weighed 115 I was a 36DD and they weighed about 8 lbs by themselves...now, after having a child and NOT having them go back down, they're probably like 30 lbs by themselves!! :( This is another reason I want to lose weight so bad...I'm praying they'll go away!

bola81 05-26-2005 03:39 PM

no i am sorry if i canme out wrong it just you said 120lbs and you know i am 5 8 and if i tried to get that low all it would be is bones and the bf means brestfeeding sorry but we are all here to make each other feel good so power is strenght i do Tae Bo Boot camp it cool and it a tough work out

TheNewChristy 05-26-2005 04:05 PM

OH, heehee...no, I never bf'd. :) I have a weight machine that needs to be put together, a treadmill, tae bo DVD's, and Oxycise is on its way...for me, it's just finding the time! I work 9-10 hours/day, then I come home and only have about 3 hours to get in quality time with my son and hubby, plus make dinner, clean up, etc. before they go to bed (DH gets up at 4pm for work). Then it's too late to exercise...it takes a least 4 hours after excercise for me to fall asleep. I don't snack usually, and actually only have 2 meals/day most of the time, but I make bad choices and eat too much I think. Based on some other physical things I have going on, I think I might also be a little on the hypothyroid side...

bola81 05-26-2005 04:11 PM

what is oxycise never heard of it, Well for starters try couting calories and try get a jump start at breakfast and aleast eat 3 time a day but watcch you cal's the on your day's off try to work out if you eat more often in little portions that should help i feel it works for me.

shennan 05-26-2005 04:21 PM

WElcome to all the new girls!....
Let me introduce myelf. I am 200, and 5'3", 27 years old, not married, no kids. I have been just trying to count my claories and exercise. Doesnt always work since my butt is still TTTHHHIIIISSSSS BBBBIIIIIIGGGGGG. I am addicted to buying work out tapes and pills, but dont worry, I never have taken them long enough to work ;)

I have been put on orders by my dr to lose weight. I get distracted and bored easily so when I use the treadmill I must also listen to music and watch TV. I also love aerobics (Billy Blanks, Richard, and Jazzercise) I cant do yoga or palites, I get bored easily. My biggest weekness is cookies. Today I did real well till lunch time. I work at a banquet facility so there is ALWAYS lunch and ALWAYS cookies and other goodies laying around. I have a little self control problem.

So from the looks of the rest of the girls, we all seem to be in the same boat. I was very excited to find this website and realise that I am not the only one with these problems.

My goal is to loose 10 more pounds by my next weight in at the Dr's on June 20. I am a little behind, so I must start cutting out all the goodies.

I have had several friends who were aneroxic as teens, and once they gained weight, it has been VERY hard for them to take it back off. My suggestion is to start slow and not aim to low. For girls our height we should weigh anywhere between 145 and 100. I am personally aiming for the 140 mark!

Good Luck ladies! I am looking forward to future posts!

It's a program with lots of deep breathing, stretching, and muscle toning (clenching & unclenching)--a lady on a Christian message board I belong to recommended it. It's fairly inexpensive, and in all the review I read even the people who didn't lose a lot of weight said it gave them more energy, less stress, and just overall helped them feel better--just that sounds great to me!!

I like to exercise most of the time It's my alone time and I just let my mind go blank it's nice I never had a problem with my weight until I had my 1 st kid and I haven't been skinny since I got down to 145 before I got pregnant with my 2nd and just can't seem to give up my sugar long enough to make a difference in my weight DAMN Coldstone creamery (it's of the devil) BUt I'm trying. I used to be in the military and loved it, but my hubby is military too and we didn't want to put our kids through that so I had the option to get out when I was preg. the 1st time so I got out. Now I just stay at home with the kids and eat too much. Well GOOD LUCK everyone I gotta go do some yard work Have a good day

Welcome!

WOW ! Welcome to all of you newbies!!
I am a SAHM of 1- 2 year old, and I love to play all sports, but dont get out to play enough...and eat too much sugar!!-I have slowly gained 15 lbs on top of the 30 i gained with my son, so now I am on a mission to get to a healthy weight before the next baby.. so ive been doing a Christian Program called First Place for a few months now, and then just read the Body For Life book last week, and I am now on day 7! it is pretty challenging, :wl:i was really sore the first 5 days! I really enjoy this site, and am glad to have buddies to relate & vent to, and to encourage/:cheer:be encouraged by...it really is hard to do it alone!

I have been  lately between moving to a new place, selling the old place, and buying 240 acres of (unserviced-no power/water) farm land to move onto next year! ( and my ds stopped sleeping through the night 2 weeks ago!! plus since quitting my job 3 weeks ago its kinda hard to adjust..)

Way to go to all you ladies who have lost weight/trimmed up/kept up on your workouts- and to those who didnt-keep trying! You can do it!! ;)
I hope to get the net at my new place soon - for now I use my friends so I dont get here too often-explains my book length post!
If any of you need a buddy...my emails etc are in my profile...You can never have enough friends!! :D
Have a great day!!

Newbie in the same boat =)

Hi! I'm also a 22 y/o looking to lose about 20-30 pounds. I'm in the same boat with the whole "gaining weight after finding Mr. Right". My sweet & loving significant other feels that I am perfectly fine & gorgous at my current weight, but I don't like the fact that I have gone up 2 sizes in my pants!

I joined Curves back in Feb 2005, but I have only lost 2 pounds in the past 3 months...It's a tad discouraging, but I also know that I probably wasn't eating as healthy as I should have been...So, starting this past week I have been keeping track of my food intake, including calories & I have been pushing myself to stick with a weekly exercising schedule.
Is anyone here, also a member of Curves?

~Helen~

shennan 05-27-2005 11:15 AM

My best friend did curves and lost like 50 pounds! She saw a difference in the way her clothes fit first, then the pounds started coming off a few months after she started. She did this to lose weight for a friends wedding. Well after the wedding she stoped going and gained all her weight back!!!! Now she is going back to curves in hopes of being thin again for her wedding in November.

Exercise works, but we must all make a commitment to our bodies to make a life style change, and not give up after we loose the weight, or else it will all come back!

sgrbusting 05-27-2005 11:25 AM

I am 20 and only need to lose about 10lbs but those 10 lbs are really bothering me! What programs are you guys using?

shennan 05-27-2005 11:29 AM

Count your calories and exercise. How much do you weigh now?
That weight will determine how much you eat:
141 - 170 = 1200 calories
100 - 141 = 1100 calories

The less you weigh, the less you eat, cause the less mass youe body has to maintain.

Jumping on the bandwagon

Hey all,

Welcome to all the newbies. I'm Christine, trying to become less fat, if not skinny. Having a good time at it too, i actually enjoy exercise now. I've actually decided on a new challenge after reading a couple of folks' posts. I checked on that couch to 5k plan and I've decided to jump on the bandwagon and give it a try. I have never been a runner in my life, so this will definitely be a first to me. I've actually been jogging a little on my walks and discovered that i've lost enough weight so that i don't have as much flesh jumping and jiggling when i run as i once did. That jumping and jiggling was one of the reasons i avoided running, it was just uncomfortable. Well that's enough of me for now, good luck to you all and have a good memorial day weekend.

t1iffany 05-27-2005 01:54 PM

JUst got back from day 3 week 1 of couch to 5k. I even jogged more than I was supposed to yeah for me. Well gotta go more yard work to do I hope you all have a wonderful day.

lauroura 05-27-2005 03:55 PM

Hey everyone
I worked out last night with my trainer doing cardio and upper body( my weakest part) but I amde a promise I would not whine about and I kept it so yay me!
Anyway I have just a few session left with him and then I am out on my own so hopefully I will stay motivated. This place will surely help!

shennan 05-31-2005 09:38 AM

Tiffany - I ate my last cookie for the month yesterday. Here is to giving up excessive sweets to help with that weight loss!!!

My sister turned 21 on Saturday and we had a family picnic and then out on the town in a limo. I was not happy with the pictures taken of me; nor have I been in the last year. So I have hung them up on the fridge for inspiration right next to my skinny virtual model. ;)

I added everything I ate over the holiday weekend to the junk list I had going and if I had not eaten any of it I would have lost 5 pounds!!!! :?: I am sooo cutting back on the crap now! and I have sworn off fried foods now - ate a fried chcken sand this weekend and it made me bloat up a few pounds!

20 days to loose 10 pounds!

t1iffany 05-31-2005 11:10 AM

Yesterday was my last day for sweets too. And no fast food also. Well Good Luck everyone. I'm proud of you Bola81. I still haven't checked my weight I still haven't dried up yet so I hope it happens soon............ Well have a good day :D

lauroura 05-31-2005 04:41 PM

Not too bad of a weekend. I need to hone down and really cut calories. Any ideas on low calorie snacks I can take to work with me? I have a trip to virginia Thursday thru Monday so I will need to be strong... Congrats to all for all the good work!

imsexydamnit 05-31-2005 04:44 PM

Snacks

For snacks i'd recommend, special k bars, low cal gingersnaps, pretty much any veggie with hummus, baked tortilla chips with salsa, string cheese, and pretty much any fruit

shennan 05-31-2005 11:54 PM

I just went shopping and loaded up on "snacks". I have a sweet tooth so I picked low cal snacks that I take to work and keep in my drawer. Quaker Peanut Butter & Chip bars are only 120 caloried. Kudos are between 100 and 140. Special K bars are yummy, as well as the slim fast snack bars (120). I also bought some chocolate teddy grams (120 calories for 1/2 cup!) and the 100 calorie chips-ahoy packets! THOSE ROCK!!! They also have 100 cal wheat thin packets which are also filling. Hope this helps! OH also tuna comes in dry packs now 60 calories for 1/2 the packet! That is an entire meal!

hottiewithin 06-01-2005 11:48 AM

Hey all! I'm new here..this is my second post, actually. Anyway... I'm 25 from Iowa... I'm 5'4" and currently weigh in at 162lbs. I was really gung-ho about exercising earlier in the year, but once I landed a seasonal job, I slacked off on both my eating and exercising. So now that I'm unemployed again, I'm going to try and drop at least another 10lbs before school starts up in the fall! 10lbs by August 22nd... i KNOW I can do that! :)

You can read more info about me here: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/show...1&postcount=44

And YAY!!! I exercised today! I'm so proud of myself! Granted, it was only the 1 mile Walk Away The Pounds video... but I've been having a problem with my back lately, so I didn't want to push it.

Good luck to everyone!

bola81 06-01-2005 11:57 AM

Hey Hottiwithin Welcome well we are here for you .
Hey guys i lost 2lbs yes

ctrsara 06-01-2005 01:04 PM

Can I join you?/Anyone starting out?

This is my first post, and I fit into this thread perfectly! I'm 22 (almost 23) and I need to lose about 30 lbs... I have struggled with weight my whole life, but hit my personal high point after my freshman year of college at 197 lbs. (summer 2001) Using Weight Watchers and the motivation of liking and beginning to date a guy, I was down to 150 a year and a half later (I tend to lose in spurts, then maintain for a while, then lose again, rather than steadily losing). The stress/influence of my last 2 1/2 years of college (with 7 roommates at a time, there was ALWAYS something good to eat sitting out) I gained back up to 168, though I have worked out throughout all this, and am not in bad shape. I graduated in December, moved back home, got an office job (not good for exercise), and married that same guy about 2 weeks ago. Between finishing up the school-stress and the motivation of the wedding, I was back down to 153 by May, but the honeymoon and first weeks of marriage were not conducive to healthy eating and exercise. It doesn't help that my husband is 6' and weighs like 140 lbs. - his metabolism is so fast he could probably (and might possibly) eat 4000 calories a day and still never gain... sigh. So here I am, re-committing myself. I would really like to get to 125 by Christmas, but, considering my genetics, I think 130 is a more reasonable goal. I loosely follow the weight watchers way of eating I learned, and I work out 4-5 times a week (weights and cardio, mostly inside, cause it's hot), (and even get paid for doing some of it here at the community college where I work!) but I could really use some motivation and some one/people to report to and be "buddies" with. Any takers?
Sorry for such a long post. I tend to write more rather than less...

lauroura 06-01-2005 03:30 PM

Thanks guys for the snack ideas!!!
Weighed myself to day and no change at all. But at least I didn't gain any!
Did 65 minutes on the elliptical last night YAY!

t1iffany 06-02-2005 11:31 AM
