Smile Newbie here

Found this site this morning and have spent time looking around. Looks like a wonderful bunch of caring supportive people and I look forward to joining in.

A little about myself...I too have been overweight my whole life and figure at the ripe ole age of 41 it was time to seriously do something to change my life around. I got married just over a year ago and want to be healthy and live a long life with my new husband who is 10 years younger than I am and alot healthier than I am.

I have mastered the first hurdle of my success. I am (was) a pepsiholic. It was not unusual for me at all to drink the equivalent of a 12 pack of pepsi over a weekend. Pepsi was my only fluid intake for months and months. There are only 3 liquids I will drink anyway Pepsi, water and iced tea (no sugar or lemon). I would go months without water and was too lazy to make tea so I just drank mass quantities of Pepsi.

I am happy to say I have not had a pepsi in 3 weeks now and while I drink Iced Tea at work I drink only water while at home. I figure if I can conquer the pepsi addiction I can now strive to conquer the greasy high fat food addiction.

Today is the first day to a new lifestyle

Great job! You have done a great job conquering your Pepsi addiction. I try water with a slice of dried apple in it; it gives it some decent hint of flavor. I try to drink several full bottles during the day at work--combined with many trips to the bathroom!

I broke my Pepsi habit during a diet back in the mid 80's. Graduated from Pepsi to diet Pepsi while a group of us sweated to Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons. Ahhh the memories.

But you can't beat water. Even diet pepsi is no substitute. So now I drink about one can of diet soda every week or two and about 1 case of 24 ounce sport bottles of water per week. Help! I'm drowwwwwwwwning. LOL

I think I have you all beat on the Pepsi addiction. At least I'm addicted to Diet Pepsi but I got through a 2 liter a day - on a good day. On a bad mood day I've been known to have more. I also do drink a lot of water. In other words, I'm in the bathroom quite a lot.

Richard Simmons was mentioned and I admit I still sweat with him daily. I thought I'd out grown those tapes a decade ago, but he keeps me entertained and moving so I gave up on the boring exercycle and just sweat to the oldies, disco and 80 music. I must say though that if he tells me he loves me again, I'll scream. I guess I'll be screaming because he loves everyone and I'll dance with his tape tomorrow.

I think I own every Richard Simmons tape there is, I admit there is quite a layer of dust on them now. I think it is time for me to pull them out and let Richard tell me how much he loves me again

I have had one diet pepsi in my lifetime and it did nothing for me. I have even tried the Pepsi Edge and that didn't help either. Knowing me I am just better off not having anything to do with pepsi of any flavor now or I will be right back to drinking it again. Pepsi's profits will plunge now...Sorry Pepsi!
