Talking Newbie here! Ordering my Medifast tomorrow! need to get some feedback

Hey guys!

I am new here, New mommy of a 3 month old little girl. I used to always be in decent shape. 150/160 pounds (5'9" and on my frame 150 looks like 130) However...When I got pregnant I was already a bit overweight and at 4 months I weighed in at 207 pounds...

Over the course of my pregnancy I gained another 60(ish) pounds. When I was admitted to the hospital I weighed 264, when I left I weighed 144 lbs... and Now 3.5 months later I STILL weigh 226 and it looks like ALOT MORE now.

My arms used to have definition and now they are huge i have to crop all my photos and its so embarassing.

Anyway, I know a couple people who went on medifast but i didnt really know them before they did it so I have no idea how far they have come.

Regaurdless...I am going to order my medifast tomorrow (i am ordering only the flavors and things I feel like I would like and also have read alot on these boards about whats icky and what's not)

Im wondering how fast everyone lost weight. I am looking to get down to 160 if POSSIBLE by december 1st. but definitely to 180 by MID NOVEMBER as I have to go to my brothers birthday and dont want to be embarassed by my weight.

Anyways, if anyone has any tips for faster more accelerated weight loss please let me know. I plan on running on an elliptical for 30 minutes per day and maybe going on a walk with my daughter (weather permitting...im in Seattle

So here I go, I will try to keep posting and let everyone know my progress, thanks for your help if you can give it!

Default It is working for me...

Let me tell you, I have worked out, I have done WW, I have even tried some diet pills, and my weight just kept going up and up. I will be honest, there are some obstacles you have to overcome, you have to fight some of those cravings at first, but it does get easier. It's been 3 weeks for me and I admit, I've cheated, I had fried chicken one day and a fried corn dog at the fair another, but so far that's been about it. I have lost 15 lbs, and the weight just keeps dropping. I have changed how I eat now, and even my husband is proud of me. I don't need all that sugary stuff, the bars fix that. The hot cocoa is what I am drinking right now and I love it! I like the oatmeal, it tastes just like quaker, and I like the soups, but I've found not everyone does. I really can't complain about any of it. It does seem like a pain to eat every 2-3 hours and to carry a water bottle around, but nothing like this has EVER worked for me. I have more energy than I ever had, and the best part, I AM NOT WORKING OUT! This is just me, doing the same thing I do every day, and it's falling. A bunch of the girls at work are on it, the three that are giving it their all, combined have lost 108 lbs in less than 3 months or less. These aren't big ladies either. They are the ones that I wish I could remotely be close to in size. Another lady at work started a few days before me, she admits to cheating every weekend if not more, has lost 7 lbs. I really hope it works for you, I am staying on it. I love that I don't have to cook every meal, and if I am out, I just take bars with me. (love the bars, btw) I will be honest, my weight did fluctuate a lot the first couple weeks, and the best time to weight yourself is first thing in the morning. Keep us updated on how you do!

I lost a lot in the begining-11 lbs the first week. I then lost only 2 lbs a week in weeks 2 and 3 and I started to get worried. Now this week I have already lost 5 more, so it seems to be picking up

Default Don't get discouraged

It does taper off a little and isn't as fast as the first week, but it does continue to fall off. Just keep at it. Average is 2-3 lbs a week but that's still quite a bit when you think about it. Stick with it and you'll be glad you did.

Hi all -

I'm in the middle of my 2nd week on Medifast. I started at 5'4" 147 pounds. By the end of my first week I got 142. 5 pounds in the first week!

I read a lot about medifast before buying the variety pack, and I saw a lot of people reporting that the weight loss slows after week 2-3. Can't report on that myself yet, though

Hey OP, I am in the same boat as you. I am about 5'8 and always around 155-160 and after my fourth baby, my little girl, I nursed her for a year and NEVER lost a pound. UGHHH!
I have lost over 20 lbs in the first month. Keep in touch and good luck!
Also my advice if you have a new baby is order extra of the bars, I have tons of the shakes left because I am always on the run and a bar is so much easier to keep in my purse or when I dont have time with the baby to make a shake.

Exclamation Finally starting!

Hey guys. Thanks for all the replies. I am really excited about this program. I started this morning and have eaten twice so far. i wish someone would have told me the eggs are GROSS. lol should have gotten oatmeal i guess. )
I didnt order the variety pack I just ordered the items I thought sounded good to me.
I weighed myself this morning and i am 229. and I desperately need to lose this weight before the holidays (i cannot take any more embarassing fat photos with my new baby)

Anyways So far, I am really tired, and really hungry. so that sucks but I am just remembering the end goal and heading towards it!!!!

Thanks to everyone for the support. I am also planning on running on the elliptical for 30 minutes per day. what are you guys thoughts about this?

Everyone says the first week is really drastic and I figured if I work out then it will come off even faster? Although the packet says not to exercise for the first few weeks. But I am in decent shape still, i am not going to pass out or anything.

So i dont know...
What is everyone thinking about this? should I wait until after the first week when the weight loss slows down?

ANyway, wish me luck and I am off to eat another meal. soup! :O)

The program recommends that you not implement any more strenous than usual activities until you've been on it for a month. This is to allow your body to adjust to living on 1000 calories, or thereabout. I was really lightheaded the first 2 weeks of my program, so I can see thier point. As a new Mom, I'd be very careful about it. If you get into too big of a hurry, you could be risking a lot. We have 12 weeks until December 5th. That should be around a minimum of 24 pounds from now possibly up to 40, or more.

It's really important that you get enough protein. Sometimes people cut back on it for thier Lean and Green, and this is REALLY bad for your body. Make sure you're getting enough.

And regarding the nasty eggs; I can't stand them as a meal but I use them a lot in recipes. They can be used to beef up, or make, casserole type dishes. My coach didn't tell me about the wonders of mixing and matching until I was in amonth and getting really sick of chicken noodle, Ha! But I don't recommend buying the official recipe book. I don't consider suggesting adding a tablespoon of flavored sugar-free syrup to shakes as "recipes". I can figure that kind of stuff out on my own, Ha! Check out the recipes thread here and google it, you'll find more.

Hey I'm new to this site but I used to do medifast and lost about 30lbs. I started out 185lbs at 5'4. So it does work... You should start to feel better after your 3rd day on the program. I got tons of energy and wanted to workout all the time. However, you're not supposed to for the first 3 weeks, and after that youre supposed to gradually encorporate it into your routine. If you work out to quickly you'll build muscle and you will most likely plateau. Stick with it and you'll be super happy with the results!! Good Luck!

Thanks everybody for the tips and tricks. yeah i googled alot of recipes but obviously... its my first day I havent done them yet. lol. i will make sure to keep posting and keep updating. so far... feeling pretty hungry. lame!

Forgot to tell you: Water is the key to fast weight loss. I'm not sure why exactly, but it's true. Maybe it has something to do with flushing out the system. But I know for sure that the key to keeping your skin elastic so it shrinks with your body and doesn't get saggy is WATER. Lots and lots. There's a formula for how much, that has to do with your weight, but I can't remember what it is right now.

Water is also the key to not damaging your kidneys while in ketosis. Make darned sure you are getting all your water.

Post Okay

So I did work out 15 minutes the first day and I have been drinking TONS of water. which i usually dont drink ANY. so that's a big deal for me. I am findinng it hard to fit in all the meals because I dont wake up very early. (sleep til noon or 1 usually) So far I am already down 5 pounds at 224 this morning. ( I dont think you're supposed to weight yourself every day but I cant help it) Im really not sure if the medifast is what's making me lose weight or just the lack of calories and drinking alot of water combined with no fast food or energy drinks ( ised to drink A LOT of the full calorie ones per day) Anyway.
THe chicken and rice soup was REAALLY good IMO
the Chilli not so good.
the shakes AWFUL
the eggs AWFUL
smores bar good but really sweet and i have a hard time getting through a whole bar.

I think it would be easier for me to eat all my meals if they didnt taste so awful!

anyway I am on day three now. So ill post back in a few days with my progress!
