Hi Markz,

Good luck. You've made the first step by asking for advice. I've been successful so far with counting calories, exercising and changing lifestyle habits such as choosing active events rather than food events (saves money too!)

Some thoughts for you:
Do you have a Y or gym close bay that has child care, you could work out and get some child care too at the same time. Sometimes those places will give a membership to a young mother like you for less money - don't be afraid to ask.

Clean out the cupboards - only include healthy food choices for you and your daughter.

Buy a blender - you can make all kinds of really yummy healthy drinks with frozen or fresh fruit, non fat yogurt, skim milk or soy milk, water and ice. Today I'm having a really large glass of blended frozen strawberries, ice and water for less than 100 cals and it tastes better than ice cream! Great snack for your little one too.

Read portions and calories. On the web you can find out the calories you should have each day for your desired weight and try to stick to that many a day.

Best of luck. I wish I started this when I was 180 rather than waiting until I got to 210 - you can do it and you'll love life once you start making progress.
