Hi all

I think starting a new thread is a great idea. Any ideas out there for a catchy and inspiring title? :

LauraLynn - It's great that you have found some other ways to deal with stress when your about to step off the "healthfood wagon". I think I'll make a list of things I can do and post it on my fridge or something...

Trish - I was thinking of joining WW - free registration on right now, but when I went to the doctor I asked about going to a dietician and he agreed it may be worth a try, so I'll see how that goes first. It felt good when I talked to my doctor this time because I was honest about my compulsive and binge eating. I was reading the August issue of Oprah and they had an article on people that have lost weight and kept it off, good article. Each of the people had a photograph of how much they had lost, one with pounds of butter, one with sacks of sugar and one with pounds of chocolate (your chocolate bar comment made me think of this).

Glen - It sure is a small world, isn't it? How's it going for you today?

Well, Sunday is my last day of three weeks of vacation.

Monday I'm going to try going to the gym before work. It opens at five o'clock and I don't start until eight -- very do-able. The first day may be tough as I have become used to going to bed at 2am and getting up 8 or 8:30. Oh well, I have survived on less sleep before... I think I'm winning the battle with those little voices that are telling me that this will be too hard...

Oh well, I really need to get something productive done this last day of having the house to myself.... or not.... maybe I'll read Dr. Phil or do homework for a business course I'm taking.... or read my pleasure book Ann-Marie MacDonald's "Down on Your Knees" This is the second book I've read by this Canadian author, liked them both I can't remember the name of the first book..... oh well...

Talk soon,

Joy

Good Morning Everyone
It is a beautiful day here almost like fall sun is shining but cool.I am doing ok still a bit of trouble being motivated but that will come.Nice to meet you Joy and looking forward to getting to know you.I am trying to figure out how to start another thread this one is getting way to long.I have no big plans for the weekend but know that I have to be active I had a big breaskfast this morning and ate up alot of my points so it will be veggies and fruit most of the day now.I just noticed that 2 of my posts didn't make it on here I am not ignoring you LauraLynn in fact addded you to msn.And together we can get this weight off. What program is everyone else following. And Glen we miss you where r u.LauraLynn you can vent all you want that is why we are here.It takes alot for me to vent in public but I am getting used to it now.Having a teenage daughter would make anyone vent these day's One thing they taught us in weight watchers is that when you go for that snack make sure that you are eating because you are hungry not out of boredom or frustration and that is my problem I eat when I am alone or watching tv so now I have to save some points for that and have proper snacks. Will share any ideas that I get from there with you and it might help. Gotta run and I hope that this post makes it.Have a great day.Trisha

OK call me dumb I never realized that we had 2 pages here and just found my posts and all of you new ones.(RED FACED) I am just getting used to this board.I think a new name for the group would be great. Will try to think of a name .What kind of music do you play Laura. You sound like you have a very busy lifestyle.Joy weight watchers is good so far only one week but I think it will work there is something about knowing that you have to get on a scale infront of someone that makes it work. Also they have alot of good ideas. The friend that I am going with I have known for 35 years now and that makes it more special we have been through everything together so both want to see each other succeed. One name we could use for our group is Yes we will loose 100lbs.Or WE CAN DO IT .Just some ideas but don;t ask me to start another thread because I will never find it lol.Have a good day and looking forward to seeing you again soon.Trisha

Hi Guys,

Just a quick note.... got my Grandson visiting. I have been mindful of what I'm eating. Wouldn't say I've started but today given the choice of what to eat for breakfast while waiting for my car to get repaired I ordered two poached eggs and whole wheat toast. Oops I forgot about "dry". But I think I'm getting myself in the mode. Went to McD's for lunch but instead of having the full meal deal, I just had an ice cream cone which was what satisfied me at the time. Maybe not the best choice, but I didn't binge or continue to graze either.

LauraLynn - you inspire me with your healthful menus

Trisha - I think I probably will do WW but am weighting (waiting) pun intended to officially start until I see the dietician/nutrisionist on Sept. 24. I have started to writed down what I'm eating and some things I want to accomplish this week, this month, before Hallowe'en (I joined the Hallowe'en challenge in the 100# club) and before the end of the year. I'm hoping that tonight when I journal I will find some inexpensive, non food incentive/rewards for reaching those goals. Here's hoping Next week WILL be going to the gym each morning to work out and will also journal my progress there.

Glen - what type of matches do you collect .... old/ new/ different types or ... sounds like an interesting way to meet people. I would offer to send you local ones from here but you probably have them already from your uncle. I cannot recall if you said you were on WW. If so are you planning OP snacks foryou and your guests (they never really need to know or do you have to do that kind of thing..

Well enough for now.... Tyler tells me he's bored... so I'm off to find another adventure for him. We made jam tarts earlier, oops had to try one....

Morning everyone
What a neat hobby Glen if you want any from ontario let me know and I will try and get you some ,harder here now that everywhere it is no smoking. How is everyone doing.Joy I think that going to the dietician is a great idea and she will ask what you eat so that is good that you are writing it down. They say that to lose weight sucessfully a person needs to journal so you are on the right track.I was so proud of myself yesterday I stayed on plan and did alot of work around here and even made my menu out for the week and my shopping list.We had company last night and the junk food came into the house and there I was mowing down on Nacho chips and salsa now I have to give myself credit becuase I did not have the chips and dip but the nacho's are downstairs right now calling my name and I am not going to go into the bag when my mom wakes up they will be at her house.Anyone got any ideas yet for a new group name, LauraLynnn came up with a good one I will let her tell you though and then someone can start the new thread because I have no idea how.I was on the net yesterday and got so many good ww recipes it is amazing how much I can actually eat but it takes planning. So that is my goal fo this week to stay on program and exercise everyday.I belong to edits also and they have an awesome exercise program the only thing is you have to get off your tush and do it .In this day and age you think they would have come up with something that you could just sit and burn off al of those calories and watch you muscles grow oh well in the mean time I have to get off my butt and go for a bike ride.Have a great day everyone and talk to you later.

Hi All,

Your incenitve program looks good to me ....What a great idea LauraLynn. I'm going to copy and personalize it. Are we to share how we do each day or weekly? or not?
I particularly loved your reward for meditation idea... I often put this off put do find that it relaxes me and allows me to sleep better and re-inforces positive thoughts.

"Water for Chocolate" sounds like a good name. When will we switch?

I added each of you to my buddy list..... does anyone have any idea what this does?

We should also set up some mutually convenient chat times..... I'm not sure what the difference in time is..... I think LauraLynn and myself are about the furthest apart.
My computer was donated to me by my BIL, it is very slow but hopefully I will be able to keep up....

Good work everyone....

Joy

Hey guys, My name is Samantha and I would love to be able to join your chat group here! I am 22 yrs old, and I need to lose about 130lbs. (and that's just to be healthy, that's not to be skinny!!!!)
Anyways, I would love to have a group to come and talk to, to have to report my progress to, and someone to cheer me on.
I am not on any specific diet, I am just trying to eat less and exercise more. I have gone from drinking 4-5 Dr. Peppers daily and eating out (I am ashamed to admit it ) up to twice DAILY!!!! I have started walking at least a mile a day, hopefully one day I will be able to do more, but right now, that is it.
So anyways, any helpful hints, support, ideas, etc would be greatly appreciated!

Hey LauraLynn, I love the idea of the goal sheet. I think I will give it a try. I customized it to my personal needs. I thought you might like to take a look:

DAILY GOAL LIST - reward is 1 point for each completed daily

1. Doing one 30 min walk
2. Doing 15 mins of weight (alternate leg and arm workouts)do abs daily
3. Doing stretching/flexibilty training daily
4. Drink all my daily water
5. Stick to my eating plan with no cheats for a whole day
6. Getting to bed by 1030pm or at least close to 8 hours sleep a night
7. Meditating upon waking and before bed (inhale thru nose out thru mouth)
clear all thoughts and just focus on feeling the soothing energy within
adding a positive mantra before and after each meditation
(mantras are life affirming thoughts such as just thinking to yourself
" i am worth the effort it takes to be healthy, or " i will only allow
healthy life giving energizing foods in my body today"
8. Keep a journal each day with any info, facts, goals, thoughts,
feelings on the days events, activities, or progress, including food and
fitness logs or anything personal.

BONUS REWARDS:

take a second 30 min walk (worth 3 points)

do a second 30 min cardio choice (other then walks) (worth 5 points)

weekly goals:
Lose 2 lbs (worth 2 extra points)
Lose 5 lbs (worth 5 extra points)

Actual Daily Points Total Earned: _____

Actual Weekly Points Total Earned: _____

its a successful day if i meet 6 or more goals
its a succestful week if i get 45 plus points

when I get to 80 pts I reward with a small item under $15-20 (earings, music cd , ect)

when I get to 500 pts I reward with something additional $50 (pedicure, outfit, ect)

Default Looking for some buddies.....

Hi everyone, I am looking for some buddies, I am a 38 yo single mother of an 8yo son. I also have 100+ to lose. I did WW many years ago and lost a bunch of weight and kept it off until I was placed on bedrest during my preganacy, gained 70, then lost some, went thru a divorce and have gained another 70. So for the past 8 years have really been fighting with weight battle (actually fought the battle since I was 10, after my parents divorced). I too eat for comfort, I binge from 4-6 and then again from 8-10. I have trying to focus of something else, hobby, crafts, or anything. But 4-6 I am so tired and cannot anything. I eat while I am gooking dinner. For the past few weeks my son has had football practice and have not gotten home till close to 8pm, therefore, want to grab fast food on our way home. yesterday I premade some meals, to just heat up when we get home. It is so hard to lose weight and stay focused.
Once upon a time I was such an exercise and health nut, what happened??? Where is that person, not that I was happy with my body then either, but I was 150 pounds, and muscular.

Anyway, I am sorry to go on and on. I am hoping to join in your buddy group if that is ok.
