Default Newbie here!!

I think I posted this on the wrong board. I'm sorry if I did...

Hi All!! I'm new here, and to weight watchers (just started today)

Here is why I started (well, I'm overwieght - but...)

I have been on Atkins for the last 3 months - and I've only lost 13 lbs. My dh who is also on Atkins has lost about 20 (maybe more) and I know men lose faster - but I've lost faster counting calories than counting carbs.

I loved Atkins - but, I really want to lose some more weight instead of sitting at 197 - then going up, and then down, then up..

I know that fluctuating weight loss is normal - but this is just silly!!

So - after my cup of coffee with heavy cream - I decided I needed to go back to counting calories - and I've never really done wieght watchers - so I decided to give it a whirl!!!

Hi Sky, nice to meet you . Actually, I think 13 lbs is great in 3 months. keep up the good work.
I think the Adkins works for people but am not sure its the best most heathy way of eating long trem. I think its better to cut back on carbs and calories, and start eating whole wheat breads, whole wheat pastas, whole wheat tortills and brown rice, and eat those in moderation.
give up making all that gravy with white flower and eat lots of fresh veggies and fruits, and cook chicken, fish, steaks and stuff on a health grill.
anyway, that is what I have been doing and its helping me.
but your doing great I think..
welcome to the forums..hope you stick around..

Hi Partytime! Nice to meet you!!

I guess my thing was that I was a member of a low carb board - and I saw everyone else zipping past me (there were a lot of stalls) and started feeling like that just wasn't the way of eating for me.

So - I have a friend at work on WW - so I decided to try it. She did the same as me - started on Atkins - and went to WW.

I'll tell you - I really enjoyed my small portion of grapes, and half a sandwhich I had today!!! It's really a great change of pace!!!

I couldn't see staying ond Atkins for a lifetime - and your supposed to. And if I cheated - I would get headaches after starting up again - and it took a while to go back to weight loss.

The food was fine - veggies, meat (I would have beef - but stuck to tuna and chicken alot)

I can tell from my first half day - this is the way I should be eating

Default Hi

I think 13 pounds in 3 months is great. Good luck on WW. My sister in law lost 80 pounds on the program and had great things to say about it. Instead of cutting out all carbs, I'm trying to select healthier ones. Let me know how the WW works out for you.

Hi Cindy!!

Sounds funny - but I'm a scale-a-holic LOL!! I just wieghed myself - and for the first time, I am under 200 lbs at night time!! So - I'm hoping it's not just a trick. I am worried that my wieght will go up before it goes down since I introduced carbs back into my diet.

I'm trying to stick to mostly healthy carbs too. I learned alot on Atkins.

Hi everyone, I'm a newbi too. I was reading your threads on Adkins and I agree Ski, I also tried adkins and felt tired, had a headache and just couldn't deal with all of that protein. I have done WW in the past, the old plan and the points one, but I prefer the old one for myself because it helped teach me portion control, and helped me with avoiding those foods, that if I start them, I'll finish them and fall of the diet. This time, I'm doing a WW style diet, low-calorie but not attending meetings, I live 25 minutes from the closest town and don't even know if they have one there. Been doing it a week and I have felt energized and positive (so far) I recongize this is the "honeymoon stage" so I jumped into 3fatchicks for some support, giving and getting, so I will be prepared when it hits. I laughed when I read sky's scale-a-holic comment. I'm trying not to be that, by just weighing once a week, been there before and I just can't take the ups and downs on my emotional self. Also I'm walking on my treadmill, with my audio books which has always worked well for me, keeps me feeling entertained and the time just flies, right now I'm only doing 15 minutes, but each week I will pop it up 5 minutes. I'm doing it this way, because in the past I've had a problem with jumping in to fast and too much and it overwhelmed me and I quit. I will also probably only go to 30 minutes because I've learned something else about myself, after 30 min I get ansty to be off and begin doing other things and the last 15 minutes I felt trapped. I think this way, I will at least do it every day, versus looking for those off days. So I will add in biking and swimming to give myself some more hump to my plan. This may not work for everyone just as one diet works well for some but not everyone.
I am tracking in a journal my food and calories, plus tracking my exercise everyday. I have a long way to go (46 pounds) and I only lose 1-2 pounds a week. any help would be appreciated and I'm happy to help, console anyone else.
