Smile Introduction and what helped me to ovulate.

Hi ladies. I am excited to be part of a community that can support and understand what is happening to me. My name is Stephanie and I am TTC.

My story is as follows: I have never gotten a period on my own. I saw a gynecologist when I was 17 and nothing was diagnosed. I never really put much thought into it until about a year ago. My husband and I decided to try to get pregnant in our second year of marriage. We want nothing more than to be parents and we have so much love to give. We are 27 and 32, so while we have a few years, I wanted to get started because I knew of my issues. I saw my physician right away and she told me to try for a year, regardless of not having menstrual cycles. I went home and felt a little hopeless, but we tried anyway for about 3 months. In the meantime my sister in law fell pregnant, as well as 4 of my close friends. It is just something you can't escape when you are TTC. It seemed unfair and while I wanted to be happy for them I just felt ripped apart inside. I finally decided to see a specialist and he diagnosed me with PCOS immediately, and started me on Clomid. Cycle after cycle, no ovulation occurred. Family members were pushing the child thing on us, while they had no idea of our issues. It was hard to hide the pain. I eventually broke down and told a few people so that they understood why I was so distant and they could try to be more sensitive around me. It was a depressing process because I became so hopeful each month and nothing ever happened. 5 months later he added Metformin, with no success either. After a month of that he wanted me to start injections. I immediately gave up because at this time I didn't have the finances to go through multiple cycles. At Christmas some unexpected money came in and my husband and I agreed that we would try one cycle. Well, then our car needed major repairs and there went that plan.

It has been a little over a year since we have been trying, and I decided to just focus on losing some weight (which with PCOS is seemingly impossible) in hopes that it would help my chances why I do have the money to get the shots. I did a lot of research online, constantly looking for things to try. I began a ketogenic diet and lost 10 pounds, and am still losing. I dont find it hard to limit my carb intake at all, which I thought would be the hardest thing to do. Seeing the progress is so motivating. I work out 4-5 days a week for about an hour, doing cardio and strength. I have also been taking Myo-Inositol powder for about a month. I can't say enough good things about this supplement. Since a combination of taking this and my diet, I have had my own period (without birth control or Clomid) and it has been the only time that I have ever ovulated! (The period pains are terrible but I am so happy that I do not even care) I can't believe it. It is such a miracle. I am only in my first month and am hoping that It will continue, but I have never had so much hope in my life. I just wanted to tell all of you struggling women that this is worth a try.

We knew in our hearts that we wanted to become Foster Parents, and I was starting to seriously consider adoption. I was holding off on becoming a Foster Parent because I wanted to have our own child first. About two weeks ago we decided to move forward with the process of being licensed because I thought maybe having our own child would never happen so why hold off on taking care of children who need love. I am so happy that we can help children in need, and that I have possibly found a solution to our infertility issues, without all of the medications and medical intervention. Praise God!

Hello!
I'm glad that your diet finds you having your own cycles and ovulating! That is exciting! Best wishes for whatever lies ahead of you and your family, whether it is fostering, adopting or having your own baby! I will be praying for you and your family!
