Default people treat you diffrent when your big

Hi everyone. I have had this on my mind for awh and thought id vent and start a discussion. I know this isn't news but I have it on my mind. People getting treated different or badly because there heavy. Recently I went to a family reunion were my brother whom is 23 years my senior was. I hadn't seen him in 6 years and was excited. To see. Him. He has been more like a dad since I was 14 and even walked me down the ile at me wedding. Wsince our dad couldn't. Anyway. I get to the reunion and he had a look of discussed on his face. He wouldn't look at me or give me ten minutes of him time all weekend. Later I herd him say behind my bad how fat I was. I can't tell you how hurt I am. I haven't made contact and don't want to to be honest. Anyway. What experiences have y'all had in being treated different.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. There is just no excuse for family to treat you that way. There is no way to erase that pain, so just use it as fuel toward your weight loss efforts. I haven't faced anything like what you experienced, but what I have noticed is that I've become invisible. What I mean is that no matter what age I was when I was thinner, I was not unattractive and people noticed me when I walked into a room. Now people look past me as if I don't matter. That took some getting used to.

Ouch. I imagine that hurt quite a bit, but he was being childish. I wish I could say shrug it off, but being family, its harder to do so. He should honestly be ashamed of how he made you feel, but if you never tell him, he'll never know.

I have had so many negative experiences in my life, due to my size, that I have stopped counting. People look at me, and they think I'm dumb and lazy. I'm neither.

I observe people, and can tell a great deal about most who I come in contact with. I also run circles around most of my co-workers, or well I did at times when I worked at the hospital.

I've also had experiences where rent-a-cop security at big name stores (like Target, Wal-Mart, etc...) follow me around and make me feel like a criminal. I would never steal, as it hurts honest, hard working individuals who use their hard earned money to buy items.

I am not a criminal. I am not stupid, or lazy. I am me, and you are you. It is just a shame that people judge people based on their appearance alone.

Thank you all. And I'm sorry you both have been treated badly. Sadly it happens and people are so narrow minded. I noticed if I go to buy clothes I will be ignored by the workers or treated as if I don't belong. I know of a lot of people who are overnight that this has happened to and its awful.
