Default Fatty fat bride!

Hi there,

My partner proposed to me last September and we have been planning our wedding since. We have agreed on a date in July 2014. I've told myself over and over that I'll never be tiny, but I want to lose some of the extra before about Christmas ( so I'm not starving myself to fit into a wedding dress). And there lies the problem. The dress. I just don't even want to walk into a bridal shop. I don't want to put one on or even look at one. Now part of me is a confident person, but theres that teeny fat person inside my head that looks at wedding magazines and feels sick. Now I work alone all day, and that is where my struggle is. I can eat what I want and no one will know because they can't see me. I'm kidding myself, I know I am. Now my man loves me no matter what, and I know that, so this isn't for him. This is for me. I'm just struggling with making a big change and I'm on here because I can log on to this site while at work and get a little motivation and inspiration!

Congrats!! When I got married I lost 50lbs in 6 months. Bought the dress on the heavy end. Bride shops are used to all sizes! I had it taken in significantly before the wedding. I was similar to your size.

You can wait a few months at least for the dress shopping. If you stay on track from today you can lose the better part of 10lbs per month and in 3 months that is significant! One day at a time, each day on track. If you fall a bit pick yourself up the next day and carry on.

And come here everyday. I find I have to check in everyday at least just to read posts and stay motivated

Hi CLC and welcome!!

I am on the same wedding timeline - date is set for late June/early July 2014. I think the dress shopping can wait until at least 7-8 months beforehand, from what I have been told. So you've got plenty of time to get a good thing going before then. Once you have some momentum with an eating and exercise plan that fits your life, you'll probably look forward to dress shopping a lot more because of the positive changes in your body/fitness you will already be seeing. Keep posting!!

Before I got married my friend had me speed walking. That sure did the trick! We walked every day at lunchtime for 1/2 hour.

Thanks ladies! I feel like I've lost a couple of lbs just talking about it! However, if you burnt calories stressing about wedding things, I'd be the thinnest girl on the planet!
I pass alot of shops on my way to work and always drop in to pick up some fruit and water/low cal fizzy juice (and I can be honest here, a truck load of sweets) but today when I saw the chocolate aisle and the old habits started to pang I just took a few deep breaths and walked on. I feel great about that and I thought I would share!
