Bringing a positive attitude

  • Hello! I've been reading the various posts on this forum and I look forward to meeting you all. I am 56 and about 100 pounds overweight. I am 5'8". I recently developed a heart condition and I have high blood pressure. Health is my biggest motivation to lose weight, but of course I would like to look better in my clothes.

Yes, I have lost weight before. Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Atkins, etc. They all work. The problem is getting my mind kicked into gear! For now, I am going to try counting calories and focusing on making better nutritional choices. Glad I found this forum - I plan to stay long enough to lose a lot of weight and encourage others as well.
  • Hi Terese2,
Which food plan was your favorite to follow?
    Wishing you tons of success!
  • to you!!

There are bunches of threads in this forum and full of knowledgeable, helpful, happy and motivational people. It is hard sometimes to make a permanent change to our lives.... we just have to remember that we are worth it. Especially when it comes to our health. (I am pre-diabetic and it runs in my family). Only we can take care of ourselves. I wish you a great success in finding the right path!
  • Thanks, Veggiedawg and Wannaskipandlaugh:

    I appreciate your welcome!

Veggiedawg, I think my favorite food plan was the 17 Day Diet. I lost 50 pounds pretty quickly on it two years ago. I may ease my way back onto that plan, but for now, I am just trying to make sensible choices and watch calories.

Hope everybody has a great low-calorie evening.
  • Welcome and good luck on your journey!!!
  • Hello Terese2~
Glad you're here! Here is to maintaining our new, healthy lifestyles! [clink]
I feel I have a different sense in my mind that, this time, the changes I've made will stick. Sending you positive thoughts and looking forward to losing weight together!
  • And congrats on your new decision for a healthy lifestyle
  • Welcome!

Are you using an app to track calories? I'd suggest looking into MyFitnessPal, LoseIt, Spark-something, and I think there's a NetDiary that some people use.

I find it is so easy (and even fun) to enter stuff into a program! I use MFP and it has both a website and an app--and I use them both.
