With the exception of the first 5 years of my life...I've been overweight/obese/morbidly obese for the rest of it. Those first 5 years, I was actually quite sickly & underweight, simply because I wouldn't eat anything and doctors even put me on meds to increase my appetite. I actually remember my mom pleading with me as we walked inside the grocery store: "Please, pick out something to eat, I'll buy it, no questions asked!" Oh, how that backfired!
Fast forward many years, I found myself at 268 lbs., married & due to the PCOS that I was diagnosed with at 16, I was also stuck with fertility issues. Most information (and "inferences" from medical professionals) all encouraged weight loss to solve all my problems. As if I hadn't tried that before, hundreds of times...but one day, I decided that I'd had enough. No matter how happy I am with myself, no matter how much I love who I am, or how much I really rocked 268...it was time to see what sticking to a goal was like.
Going nearly 2 years in my mission...I'm down almost 60 lbs. and with all the changes I'm seeing (both good & slightly worrisome...), I'm absolutely relieved to have found this forum with women who have been where I am now! I've had successes, failures, and just flat out stagnancy but I wouldn't change it for the world. I'm finding that I can be quite ruthless when I have a goal set in my mind!
I really look forward to getting to know you guys & checking out your experiences, concerns, and see if I can apply any wisdom to reaching my obscure goals.
This is a great place to come for advice and read other stories! I'm a huge fan of joining challenges as I find them a great push. For example, I really just wanted to crash tonight, but I know I won't make my March exercise challenge goal if I start out that way right off!
to you! WOO 60 lbs gone. That is AWESOME! Good for you. This place is full of wonders and wonderful people, ideas and fun. Glad you have joined in. See you around the threads!
Glad to have you join us!!! I have found this group of people to be most helpful with the tips, encouragement and motivation I have found here. Having lost 60 lbs, you are off to a great start. Wrap your arms around yourself and give you a big hug for me. I look forward to "hearing" more about you and your journey. You will be successful because you are very motivated. Keep up the great work. Blessings, firegirl
Thank y'all for the warm welcome! I'm so inspired by you guys, seeing so much progress!!! I've been in a slump this week (didn't help that it was my husband's birthday a few days ago & someone baked him a cake from scratch that was OUT OF THIS WORLD...) but browsing around here is really picking my motivation back up!
