Default Hey there.

My name's Heather, I'm 17, and I weigh probably 250-260. I haven't weighed myself in months.
I first started gaining weight when I was around 10 or 11, slowly at first. I'm not really sure what caused most of it, it just kind of happened. Three summers ago, I was about this weight, and I was able to lose 30 pounds in a month by swimming almost everyday for a whole month that summer, and I kept the weight off until about last year. I've always wanted to be in shape, not like those super skinny fashion models, but something normal for my 5'2 height and age. I want to lose at least 50 pounds by March, but I don't have a scale so I really don't know how much I weigh, so I'll just measure my record by inches. It always comes down to motivation for me. The fact that I could easily get diabetes doesn't scare me enough, I'm really lazy, and the days we have really good food like pizza or something, I let in and eat too much. >.<
Though I do want to make a better like for myself, and that is why when I found this site, I decided to make an account, and hopefully it will help me. Because I need all of the help I can get.

Hi Heather, and

Glad you have joined us. I agree that swimming (and water workouts) is great exercise. Do you have access to an indoor pool? What type of eating plan are you going to do?

Ahhhhhhh "motivation." Everyone wants motivation, which IMO is highly overrated. But our feelings are so fickle, and that elusive motivation wears off pretty fast when the "new" wears off. But if you make a *decision* and stick with it regardless of the motivation, you can do this!

A scale would be very helpful for you to keep track of your progress. You can get them for less than $20 so it would be a good investment for you to make. There are even scales you can use in a lot of drugstores.... or have your doctor weigh you.

Stick around... there is a lot of support and encouragement here in the forum.

Hello, and thank you. No i do not have access to any type of pool. For now. Hopefully I'll be able to swim a lot this summer. And me and my mom are starting a kind of vegetation diet, not too extreme, But we are going to cut back on the meat. Though my mother always cooks very healthy foods. Her cooking was never the problem.

I'm very excited to start, i will be starting my journey on new years day, and will be keeping a journal to track my proccess. Hopefully it will help to motivate me as well. I'm so glad i found this site.
