I am making my latest attempt to adopt a permanent, healthy lifestyle. I'm diagnosed as having bulimia without purging. My binge of choice is sugar. I have tried all manner of approaches to get my emotional eating and sugar addition under control without success.
I've tried sugar abstinence, which is only temporary, I find. I watched Fat, Sick, and Almost Dead then adopted Joel Fuhrman's Eat to Live program with a little better impact. At least now I eat more vegetables. I attempted hypnosis without any success. I've been tapping, which has at least got me thinking and repeating issues to myself but I don't see any significant behavioral changes as a result.
In June, for the first time in my life, I started seeing a therapist for cognitive behavioral therapy. I think it is starting to have some impact but there's lots of work left to do. My current goal is to not sugar binge for the next three months. Once I accomplish that, my next three month goal will be to return to the Eat to Live program, hopefully as a permanent lifestyle plan (even if it does only move forward in three-month increments for a while).
I told my therapist last week that I have no friends with whom to talk about the food issues I face because none of them share the experience. She recommended I join an online community to get support. After doing some research, I've opted to give 3FC a try.
