Thumbs up New here and looking for tips!

Hello all!! My name is Rose and I have been trying to lose weight for the longest now and after having my son I reached my highest weight of 215lbs. that scared the crap out of me so I became motivated to change my lifestyle and eat healthier and work out. I'm currently on the special K challenge and I've lost 6lbs. in a little over a week. I'm satisfied with the results but I'm looking for a long term plan after my two weeks is up with this challenge. I look forward to meeting everyone and sharing my journey with you!!

Hi and welcome! I do believe that success comes with seeing this as a long term plan/ lifestyle change. "Diets" work, but most of the time, we (self definitely included) fall back into old habits.

Good luck

A couple of the easiest changes to make are 1. drinking a lot of water each day and 2. Walking for 10-15 minutes per day

Hi Rose,

Welcome I agree with what mamacita says, it definitely is a lifestyle change and that's how I kept motivated.
Since you're asking for tips, what is currently working for me is a consistent workout plan with calorie counting. Lots of good tips on this site, as I'm sure you'll soon see. sounds like you already have the right mentality.
Congrats on beginning this journey!

ROSE ~ well, portions & calorie counting are popular; which is what I'm doing; and I find it very flexible, plus better for long-term sustainability too. Yes, WALKING is a the best free exercise to start with; maybe some hand-weights for toning and strength too. This is a great place with lots of support, and info, and tips too ...
