Default Hi, I'm new and have a second chance at life

Hi there...My name is Carla and I have a second chance at life. My cancer was successfully treated with surgery. While waiting for the pathology results, I made a vow to take better care of myself. My cancer was caused in part from my weight especially in the torso area. I'm currently 259 pounds. I hope to join you all and change for the better. I'm not going on any diets either. I don't like the word, I form a starvation headache just by saying it. I'm going to eat better and exercise. Find happiness in the smallest of things and take one step at a time...

I am glad to hear that you beat cancer! Unfortunately, not many do (my dad included). I think it's great you've decided to make healthy changes. One thing you should know is that is doesn't have to be painful! Just check out my thread below. There I post pictures of my food as well as some really tasty recipes (ethnic mostly). I've lost almostr 60 lbs in 8 months. I journal my entire road, both exercise and nutrition. I am a calorie counter. It is free...it's easy...and most of all it's effective!. With calorie counting you can eat any type of food and still lose...you may want to pop in and check out the forum here. You will find many other helpful suggestions and/or advice during your journey to get HEALTHY!

Welcome! =)

That's exactly the way to do it. Small permanent changes that will add up to big results!
