Default Biggest Loser isn't always the answer :)

Hi I am new to this blog, I can't figure out how to introduce myself but I can figure out how to start a new thread so here I go. I am an insurance agent, a mom, a business owner and manage a team of over 5,000 people. WOW don't I sound amazing...everyone always ask how do you do it all?? Oh yes and I was a contestant and finalist on Season 3 of the Biggest Loser. So yes I can manage a lot of different things, provide quite nicely for my family..........BUT you know what I can't seem to get a flipping handle on- MY WEIGHT!! Good grief how can one person accomplish so much but not be able to walk by a bag of chips without diving in and eating the whole bag. I went to boot camp this morning and one of the trainers said wow you are getting strong, I felt great...then she said are you ready to handle that other thing...your weight. I once was a size 22 and now I am a size 12 but that's it...I can't get unstuck from this weight because I can't say NO to food. Now you would think that being on the Biggest Loser I would be fixed..well I am not. The show is amazing and I am grateful everyday for the opportunity but for those who watch it and are later surprised when people gain weight back, don't be. It is pretty hard to work out 6-8 hours a day and eat 1400 calories in real life. I am happy to be here and thrilled that the name of this blog is what it is- AMEN! By the way what are trackbacks??

Hi biggestlosergirl! Welcome to this wonderful board. You know what? So many of us here have similar issues with food. We're all different and some people can come here and lose weight and never gain it again. That's not my situation though. I STRUGGLE. I also feel like there are so many things I'm capable of and I can control so many aspects of my life....but this one issue is my sore spot.

Let's look at the facts though: you went from a size 22 to a size 12!!! WOW! That is an amazing accomplishment. Yes, it happened in an usual place....a show. But, it was season 3 so you have kept it off for quite a while. That in itself is a major accomplishment! You should be extremely proud.

But yes, it would be so much better if you could get to your ideal weight. I don't have any advice because I'm a food addict myself. I have times when I can manage it for months and then one slip leads to a thousand more and then I'm up 20 lbs. What I can say is that the more I come here, the better off I seem to be. I hope you will find the support you need. Vent, share and visit often.

Welcome! One of my biggest motivators this past month has been watching past seasons of biggest loser on HULU. While I know it is unrealistic to think I can lose that much weight in a short amount of time, I like seeing the transformations and getting the tips on good eating habits and ideas for snacks. I could not be on the show though because I would cry the whole time trying to do those workouts.
Look at all you have acomplished! 22 to size 12 is simply amazing and to have kept it off for this long is great!
I tend to be a binger myself, especially at night so I have to work really hard not to grab those nightime snacks.
Is it possible that your 'ideal' weight is unrealistic due to your busy life/schedule. I am sure you look and feel great but maybe being a size 6 is not a realistic goal.
Best of luck to you. Congrats on all your accomplishments!

I can totally understand the struggles! Weight loss has always been a struggle for me as well and I KNOW what you mean Luckymommy about managing what I'm eating for months and then the ONE slip leading to 1000! I was at my goal weight just last year and after the one slip that led to the 1000's, I'm not up 37 lbs!

But WOW, biggestlosergirl, just like the ladies mentioned, you went from a size 22 to a size 12 and have kept that off for quite some time. That is a major accomplishment in itself! Although I don't have much advice except to take it day by day, I can offer you my support.

Don't beat yourself up because you've accomplished amazing things!

HI! & welcome!! I think that is so cool that you were on the biggest loser! I think you should be so proud of all the things you've accomplished and never get too down on yourself. I know this weight bs is such a battle it seems like its never ending, but always have faith that it will and push through! Sometime when im tempted I stop myself & think "IS THAT BAG OF CHIPS WORTH ME FEELING SAD & MISERABLE & LIKE A FAILURE BC I GAVE INTO TEMPTATION? & this has helped me alot!
