Newbie Here!

  • Hello! I'm new to 3FC ... it was recommended by a friend. I am in serious need of support to lose weight. I have been obese all of my life except for a 2-year period back in the early 80's. I'm 52 years old and am starting out at 282 pounds. I would like to get to 160. I would like to lose the weight slowly and steadily. I am a binge eater and a constant eater. Right now I'm "living to eat" rather than "eating to live." I know it will be a long road, but I really need to do this. I find new aches and pains every day.

Thanks, in advance, for all of the support! I look forward to getting to know everyone.
  • hi! im new to this site too.. have you been able to figure it out? im pretty confused and theres no FAQ or help link. is your CP not working either? please help
  • Hi, pookie! Are you having trouble with just the forum section or the entire site? I used to belong to another weight loss forum that was very much like this one, so it's familiar to me. However, I haven't done much looking around the entire site yet. I think my CP is working. If you make changes to your CP, don't forget to save your changes or they won't take effect.

    Hope this helps! Good luck!
  • Hello and welcome! I am glad you are joining us.

I wish you the best on your weight loss journey!

  • Hi dgillygal!
You've taken a big step in achieving your goal by coming here - how smart to take this a step at time, slow and steady wins the race - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired - you'll be a wonderful addition to any of them. Try the 100 lb club, the 50+ group and the weight loss support forums, they're active and very helpful - also the Success stories are a definite must for motivation. Maybe check out Chicks in Control to meet others battling binge eating.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here since last fall, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals,
    Lee
