Default New to the site but not to weight loss struggle

Hey all!

I am new to the site. I am 22 and living in Myrtle Beach, SC.

One of my friends recently got engaged and asked me to be in her wedding. She will be getting married in about 2 years. This is my chance. I've struggled with losing weight/being heavy my whole life. I've always been the heavy friend and I'm sick of it. I figure this is my chance to stick with it for a goal that matters to me.

I've joined the site in hopes of building friendships and having an extra support system. I also like to have people to bounce ideas off of and hearing what they have to say about recipes and helpful hints.

So there's my long intro lol. Hey Ya'll. Hope to hear from you and be there for you!

Lindsey

Hi Lindsey!

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained!

There are lots of people here with more to lose and lots with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a short time myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome aboard - join in by inspiring us and being inspired! I know you'll be ready and gorgeous for the wedding!

Dude. I spent a lot of my childhood in Columbia, SC. I do not like the humidity. XD But it does look like we'll be getting stationed down at Ft. Bragg come spring. Anyway, I'm a fellow newcomer on the boards, but I know how it is to always be the heavy friend. But we can both meet our goals, right?

Welcome to the boards Lindsey! Congratulations on taking this important step in your life to reach for a healthy lifestyle. It's important to make small goals along the way instead of one big goal. Sometimes its easier and more encouraging to achieve small victories along the way instead of looking far ahead at the big goal. Best of luck to you!!!

I think anyone can attain these goals but I do think online communities like this one can make a significant difference.
