Default New to the group

Hey there...

Just thought I'd introduce myself. Name is Novis (pronounced Nah-vis) and I am really looking forward to the support on here. I have always been on the heavier side...by the time I graduated high school I was a size 14/16. I of course gained the "Freshman 15" my first year of college and have continued to add on since then. I've done every diet and pill you could possibly thing of to only be disappointed with the temporary results. Two weeks ago I realized how heavy I really was when my size 18's were too tight...like cant breathe, cutting off circulation tight. I can't continue to allow food to dictate my life. I've used food as my security blanket for way too long...I eat when I'm happy, sad, celebrating, depressed, bored, etc. Its time to take back my life. I see its not about dieting and "miracle pills" but about a lifestyle change. I'm sincerely ready for that change.

I have an awesome support system...and I'm very blessed to have them with me on this journey. Only downfall is my family is pretty healthy so I get annoyed when I hear how its not that hard or when I feel they cant relate...or when my size 8, perfect bodied, 19 year old sister eats like a cow in front of me and doesn’t gain an ounce.

I've been doing great for these past 2 weeks...no trips to the drive-thru, preparing healthy meals and snacks, drinking lots of water, even exercising. This is just the beginning. I really feel that this time it’s different. It’s not about loosing the weight or looking hot (which is obviously a definite bonus), but about getting my life on track. One day, I'm going to be a wife and mother. I want a healthy family...but that starts with me.

Anyways...I look forward to all the support from this group. We can do this ladies!!

Hi Novis, I can SO relate to how you feel about making a lifestyle change. That's what I'm ready for too! I also am a size 18, and I don't want to go any higher. I want to get healthy. I think you've made a wonderful start in the past two weeks! Keep it up!
