Hello Everyone. Yes, I am new to the forum - and I just have to say - WOOHOO! What an excellent find. I have been poking around the forum and it has to be one of the best I have ever seen. So much information - I wish I had found you all years ago. My name is Debbie - and I have been steadily creeping towards obese my entire life. As a teen I was athletic, so the weight didn't seem to show (although I was 150lbs and considered overweight by all charts) I am 5' 6" and in my early to mid 20's I lost the extra 20 pounds and felt pretty darn good about myself. However, since my 30's - and after giving birth to my now 18 year old twins - I find that i have surpassed the overweight by 20lbs - to a womping 205 lb mark.
In October of 2008 I started a "Biggest Loser" contest at work. I weighed in at 200lbs. We weigh in once a month - donate $10 to cause - and the person weighing in at the end of the month with the biggest percentage of loss wins the booty. I am proud to announce that I claimed that prize twice. As of today - I have stayed motivated and I am down to 167lbs.
I am not sure why I am now sticking to the weigh loss plan - I have yoyo'd all my life. Maybe it's cause my health was beginning to suffer due to the extra pounds.
My plan has been pretty simple. No gimmick diet tricks this time. I try to eat healthy foods - instead of the fast food burger joints I once enjoyed. I make sure I eat breakfast every morning - I cut out refined sugars and flours - and I try to exercise every day.
I only work about a mile from my house. So, when weather permits - I ride bike to work every day - I extended the route so that it takes my about 15 minutes to get in to work - and home again. I also bought a device that allows me to turn my bike into a stationary bike, so on the days I can't ride to work - I still ride at home.
My newest incentive is the Nintendo Wii - I simply love this product. I only have the Wii Fit right now - but I have put hints out there to the family - I have a wii fitness game wish list. The game makes it really fun to exercise. And it gets the family involved.

Sorry to be so long winded - I can't wait to learn all about you guys and use 3 fat chicks as another incentive to keep focused towards my goal. I only have 37 pounds left to go. I figure at my current rate of progress - I should make my goal by October. Which, ironically enough - would make it one year from when I started my new life style.
