Default Couple on a diet

My BF and I started going on the South Beach Diet two weeks ago. It may be selfish, but our reason for the weightloss is too look hot on our wedding. We are a couple of electrical engineers, very nerdy and out of shape.

In college, my BF went from skinny 135lb to overweight 185 by our senior year. He lost 20 lbs in 3 years by not eating bad foods. However, I was always a chubby kid, suffered bulemia and anorexia for a year. I gained the weight back and more in 5 years. My top weight was 176lb, it stayed that way for 3 years. It is time for a change, we want to look hot. We have never been hot before.

So here are our current stats:
me - 176/168/125
BF - 166/157/150

My mini goals
2/1/2009 166 lb
3/1/2009 158 lb
4/1/2009 150 lb
5/1/2009 142 lb
6/1/2009 136 lb
7/1/2009 130 lb
8/1/2009 125 lb

BF mini goal
2/1/2009 156
3/1/2009 150
4/1/2009 maintenance and 6 pack abs

Congrats on the wedding!

Be sure to check out our South Beach forum for lots of good support.

A word of caution re: goal dates. We cannot directly control the scale, so you may or may not hit all of those goals, even if you "do everything right." Our bodies aren't machines and sometimes we lose, sometimes we plateau, and sometimes the scale bops up for any and no reason at all. I would suggest focusing on the behaviors--the food and exercise--things you can control directly. The last 10 pounds can be especially difficult to budge.

I'm glad you're here!

Thanks for the encouragement. I started adding cardio and light weightlifting to tone up. I don't think I bought anything that came from a box in 3 weeks - which is great!

The wedding is scheduled for Nov, so I have plenty of time.

BTW, I love this website. The folks here are just so awesome.
