Default New Member -- Now What?

I just signed up and am anxious to get started. I am 57 years old (Wednesday my doctor called me elderly -- time for a new doctor I think) and overweight. I have been overweight most of my life I want to fight my diagnosis of prediabetis and keep it from going to full-blown diabetis. Weight loss is the best way and I am determined to get it off. I swa this website in a magazine and thought maybe it would help me too.

So, how do I get the cool progress bar? I'm all about lists and charts and marking my progress.

Hi there Grandma Sue!

You'll definitely want to check out the very wonderful 50+ area. A nice, active group of people there. There's also the Dieting with Obstacles area where you can find others with Prediabetes and Diabetes.

So. How would you like to lose the weight & become healthier? Do you have a plan, program, or exercise in mind? I'm sure we can all help point you in the right direction!

About the tickers: You'll need to be a member of 3FC for 30 days, and have 30 posts before you'll be able to use one. (Due to spammers who ruined it for all the new members.) But time will fly and soon enough you'll be able to use them!

Have a good look around, post where you're comfortable!

Best of success!!!

Hi Sue, Welcome!!! I post in the +50 group, the Golden Girls. Lots of really nice people there. Come on over and check us out. It is nice to have people your own age to talk to.

The nerve of that Dr., calling you a senior citizen.!! ha!! The last time I was in the Dr. said it was time for me to think about a pneumonia shot! I was flabargasted!! Untill I remembered, "oh yeah, I did just turn 60".

Looking forward to seeing you. Freda

Hi there SUE . . . . . . You are just a Spring Chicken from my point of view . . . . . . Just wait until your government sends you all the papers to apply for your Old Age Security and Social Security payments -- just got my first payments this month.

I see that Freda already told you about our Age 50+ Forum and here's a link . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=217 . . . I'l be looking forward to having you join the group over there.

Also noticed that Faerie mentioned the Diabetes Support Forum and here's a link to there . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=203 . . . hopefully you'll visit there as well. I'm a Type II diabetic (for more than 20 years) and it can really help to discuss things with others that really can understand what you are facing.

Anyway, Chickie, you just have a good wander around and start posting whenever something catches your eye and (as already mentioned) that 30 day/30 post requirement will just whiz on by.

Hope to see you soon . . .
