www.fitday.com has helped me tremendously to find out just how much fat/carb/protein are in the foods I am/was eating ... plus how many calories. Quick and easy to use the site.
I know what you mean about being surprised by food facts ... Fit Day (which lots of 3FC people use) opened my eyes big time to the amount of calories even in foods I thought were "good" foods! Sure helps when preparing pasta and other foods that are OK in moderation, but can doom your diet if you don't know the calorie details
